PART TWENTY FOUR

"It's a baby girl, Y/N."
"I'll call her Dawn."
<5 days later>
Michael steps closer to you while exiting the hospital room- as if you're about to fall any second.
"My parents aren't here yet, are they?" You ask with some hope left in your voice.
"They called and said they'd be here in a few days," Michael says. His face seems indifferent, with no worries in his features. Seeing your lip tremble in fear, he adds: "Don't worry, Y/N, you'll be fine." Then runs his hand up and down your arms to soothe you. Instead, it makes your nerves stand on edge. And seeing how he puts on a strong face for you, you realize... he is truly beautiful.
And that makes you scared.
"Did...did they sound angry?"
"I don't know. They called Luke's phone," Michael answers. So your parents still think you're dating Luke. Great, then they'll come back home to see that you've had a baby with Ashton, never had feelings for Luke, fell in love with Calum and....
and...as for Michael,
...ah, this is so complicated.
"Is....Luke here, too?" You ask hesitantly.
"Yeah." He bites his lip, agonizingly slow at letting go. It drives you crazy but you bury it deep inside. "And, um, so is Ashton."
Ashton's here. "Okay."
He seems shocked. "You're... okay with it?"
"He made a huge mistake that night....but the more I try to blame him, I realize it was nobody's fault that night but mine to drink with a bunch of boys. I think I can just accept that. I think I can start to forgive him."
"But...I still don't understand, how can you forgive him?" He seems riddled and begins to lose control over his temper. You can tell by the look in his eyes.
"Michael, things fall apart so better things can fall together." You glance at Michael, fiddling with the hospital robe. "He gave me you and Calum."
Michael pauses at the end of the hallway, halting you to a stop as well. You can see his head fill with a million thoughts and his eyes turn down when he admits: "I was always yours, Y/N. But it was up to you, whether or not to take me."
There's a silence in the hallway that's almost too scary to think about.
I really wish you hadn't said that, Michael. I feel like a horrible person.
But you have no idea what to say to him. 'I'm sorry, Michael?' 'I didn't know?' What was the right thing to do in this situation? You open your mouth slightly to say something, anything....
Michael takes that moment to touch his mouth to yours, so gently that you could barely feel his lips. (Damn, Michael and his surprise kisses...) It's like a frozen frame, the two of you sharing a lost moment together and doing nothing but feeling each other on your skin.
But the moment is over as quickly as it started. "Michael." You pull away, a hand on his chest.
"Y/N, you told me-"
But he can't finish the sentence, because distant footsteps makes him lose focus. Calum's voice turns the corner of the hallway and reaches the point where you and Michael stand. Beside him is Luke and Ashton, and their footsteps stop when Calum sees Michael leaning in to you. "Well," Calum says.
You step away from Michael, where his warm breath doesn't reach you anymore...and suddenly self-conscious.
"Luke. Calum." You greet them with a sheepish smile. "...and Ashton."
"Are you okay?" Ashton asks you, his face dark.
"The fact that you're asking if she's okay-" Michael begins, the loose end already unfurling in his hot temper.
"I feel weak," you admit. "But... there's no more pain."
There's an awkward moment where none of you talk, you fiddling with the gown again and Ashton meeting his gaze with Michael.
Calum quickly clears his throat. "Y/N, who do you want to go home with tonight? I really don't feel comfortable with you staying home alone."
"I'll have Dawn home with me soon."
"Three weeks." Ashton corrects.
"Three weeks? I can't see my own baby for three weeks?! I didn't even get to hold her!"
"You can come back tomorrow to see your baby for the first time. Right now it's late, and you've gotta crash somewhere." Calum runs a hand through his hair with a sigh.
You run through your options. Firstly, if you're home alone with Calum, you don't exactly know what to say to him. The fact that he didn't cheat doesn't mean you were going to jump back into the relationship with him...you still didn't like how he acted back in the condo, and there was still something going on between you and Michael and you had to sort out first. Secondly, Ashton lives in a different town. Thirdly, Michael intimidates you, and Luke...yes, Luke. Your parents love him; they'll feel better to see you two together after the....secret pregnancy part.
You make the decision. "Can I stay with Luke?"
"Sorry, Y/N. Out of town tonight." Luke says in an apologetic voice.
"Right. Okay."
"And... I don't think that's what Calum's question meant anyway." Luke adds.
You blink in confusion at the four boys surrounding you. Luke grimaces. Calum sighs. Ashton frowns. And Michael stares. There was something going on that you were missing. "What??" You groan.
"Jesus christ," Michael exasperates, like the conversation is taking all day. But you can trust Michael to get straight to the point, no matter what.
"Y/N: Calum, or me?"

(Ooh shit's about to go downnn...) I really love the name Dawn <3 I chose it because after all that Y/N's gone through, the baby is like the fresh start to a new day (or, a new life, if you want to put it that way).
You guys, I think Daddy Drama is almost at it's end! :( Poo, I liked writing this story haha
