After watching youtube and joking around for a while, Shelby went home. Me and Dan make a new video: Phil Is Not On Fire 6. We took Shelby's advice and made this a serious thing, it payed off. We end up with millions of views. I go to bed that night, or at least try to. Shelby is kind of a punk. It would make sense for her to get a lip piercing. Why am I so attracted to her? She doesn't have 'that much' in common with me, does she? I end up drifting to sleep at about 1 a.m. I wake up at 8:30 and Dan is making eggs in the kitchen. "Hai." I say sleepily and poor a glass of juice.
"Hai." Dan says in return. He is stirring around the eggs and the smell is making me hungry. I grab a bowl of cereal and sit down to watch Adventure Time, one of my favorite shows. Dan takes the eggs off of the oven. "Dang it!" He says. "I need to go get salt. See ya in a little bit Phil." He grabs his coat and keys then walks out the door. About ten minutes later I hear the door open. Shelby walks through.
"Hey, whatcha doin'?" She says. I love how she just charges in here.
"Nothing much." I say as I pick up a hand full of cereal. Shelby grabs a hand full out off my bowl and giggles.
"Hai give that back!" I scream. She stuffs the cereal into her mouth.
"I do think you want it back." She says jokingly. I laugh, even though I am quite ticked off. "So where's Dan?" She asks.
"He's at the store. Did he invite you over?" I ask.
"No... Just wondering. I wanted to do something with y'all today." She scoots me over and sits in the same chair with me. A whiff of coldness goes down my spine. And my heart speeds up. She starts watching tv with me.
"What did you plan on doing?" I ask.
"Whatever you wanted to do. It's very boring at home." She says. I nod. Her head accidentally touches my shoulder. She quickly removes it, "Sorry!" She says. I can tell she is still very tired.
"Umm...no...it's okay. I don't mind." I say, not wanting her to remove her head.
"Are you sure?" Shelby says in shock? As she looks up into my eyes. I nod. "Okay." She says and puts her head back up against my shoulder. I look down at her. I pray one day she will be mine. But I don't think God will ever grant my wish. Dan walks in.
"Wow, did I miss anything?" He says as he drops the groceries. Shelby laughs.
"No," I say. "Shelby was just tired."
"She doesn't look that tired..." Dan says. Shelby sits up and helps him pick up the groceries, full of life. "Thanks." He says with a smile. My heart aches, wanting to sit with her again. "Why are you here?" Dan continues.
"Jut got bored." She says, fiddling around with her sweater sleeve. Dan smiles and goes to eat his eggs. Shelby comes back to sit with me. I have an urge to say 'I love you' whenever someone's cuddles with me. Especially now. "Maybe we can go to Mega Skate." Shelby suggest. I've never skated before and it sounds like fun!
"Sounds cool." Me and Dan say at the same exact time.
"Me and my friend Laci had those twin moments ALL THE TIME when I went to Douglas." Shelby says.
Dan looks startled. "Douglas? Isn't that a small country town? He ask.
"Yeah... Why?" Shelby says in return, looking slightly offended.
"Nothing, just it's a small county town... and you're a punk-rock chick. I wouldn't picture it happening that way." Dan says.
"Well it just.... happened." She says and shrugs her shoulders.
Dan and I get done eating. "Are you two ready to go skating?" Dan asks.
"Sure!" Shelby says and grabs her phone.
"Phil?" Dan says, waiting on my answer. Him and Shelby are both looking at me, still waiting for a reply.
"I guess I'm ready." I say. We all leave Shelby is listening to Blink-182 on her phone when Dan hears and walks over to her so he can listen too.
"Oh my God you like Blink-182? You listen to all the cool bands!" Dan says. Shelby smiles and they sing along to I Miss You then All The Small Things until we arrive. We change into our skates. Me and Shelby get normal skates and Dan gets inline skates. As soon as we get on the floor Shelby is the quickest one out there, I can hardly work normal skates, and Dan falls right on his butt.
Shelby zooms by and stops at Dan. "Oh my God really?" She says mockingly.
"Did you not see? These skates to to butt attack me!" Shelby laughs so hard she falls down. Her and Dan are left sitting down on their butts and I'm out stretching my arms in an attempt to keep my balance (and not fall). They get up and Dan goes to get new skates. Shelby slows to skate beside me.
"You don't know how to skate do you?" She says.
I look at the floor, embarrassed. "No, I don't."
"It's okay. Lots of kids can't skate." I start to fall and she grabs my hand to catch me. My heart stops. I catch my balance and she lets go. Dan comes back and we all skate together then me and Dan go home and she goes to her house. I go home and dream of her and lions, but mostly her.
