luke walked into work with a huge smile on his face. he didn't even realize it until his boss pointed it out.
"why you so happy, kid?" his boss, david, said.
"what? i'm not happy." luke went into the staff room to check in. david followed.
"yes, you are. i see that smile on your face." luke immediately got the smile off of his face."i just got back from taking rose to the park. she makes me happy."
luke walked to the register to help out the lonely customer standing there.
"That'll be $255." The customer swiped her credit card.
"nah, dude. that's not it. you found a girl!"
"have a nice day," the customer walked away and luke turned towards david, "no. i didn't find a girl. i'm happy because i had a nice day at the park with my sister. plus, i've never been truly happy. i've had my moments when i've been less sad then other times, but that's about it." luke stopped talking to his boss and began helping random custmors around the store.

"katie?" rose asked.
"yeah?"
"why does kitty wear all black in the hot? isn't he hot?" rose wondered.
"he has always been like that. he always wears sweaters and flower crowns, cat ears or beanies. it's just his thing."
"i'm home!" luke yelled from downstairs. the girls ran downstairs and attacked luke at the legs, "woah, woah. simmer down, young ones." the girls let go and laughed.
"katie, do you know when you need to be home?"
"i need to be home before dinner. which is when the big hand is on the 5." luke looked at his watch and it was 4:55.
"well, then we need to go." rose pouted and so did katie. katie and rose ran upstairs to their stuff. they came back down with their shoes on.
"ready!" they both said. luke lead them out to his car. they both got in while luke was there to make sure they got in safely. luke got into the driver's seat after making sure they got in. he turned down the green day he was blaring when he got out of the car. he slowly backed out of his driveway.
"princess, can you text michael and say we are on our way to drop off katie?" he handed rose his phone at a stoplight. luke had a lock on his phone, but rose was the only one you knew it. she also knew how to text which was very useful to luke.
"i texted him."
"thank you princess."
"you're welcome pookie." luke drove into michael's driveway and found michael waiting outside on the porch for her. luke turned off the car and let katie out.
"bye katie!"
"bye rose!" katie ran up to michael and hugged his legs. luke got out of his car and walked up to michael, leaving rose's door open so he could see her.
"go inside, dinner's inside." katie ran into the house while luke pulled out a cigrette and lit it.
"thank you for bringing her home, luke."
"no problem, mittens. i was planning on doing it anyways. my mum would beat my ass if i didn't." they both laughed.
"pooooookie."
"yes princess?"
"when are we going home?"
"in a few minutes."
"so um luke." michael scratched the back off his neck.
"yes?" luke dropped the cigrette and smashed it.
"so me and my best friend are going to an arcade on sunday and we might do some other stuff and i was wondering if you would like to come? if you can't, i totally understand."
"do you really want me to come or do you need a ride?"
"both."
"i'll think about it." luke turned his back and got back in his car. he turned it on.
"later luke, bye rose."
"bye!" rose exclaimed.
"see you around michael." luke got his phone back from rose and checked his messages before slowly backing out of michael's driveway.

okay, i have somewhere to be so i'll call emma over and she can babysit.

yeah, i had to do some things. i have to drop rose off with emma bc my mum isn't home.

luke slowly drove out of the driveway and into the street. "princess?"
"yes?"
"is it okay if i call emma and see if she can babysit?"
"yay!!!!" emma was the babysitter that luke's mum had hired to pick up rose from school when luke and herself weren't home.
"well, i'm taking that as a yes." luke pressed the fancy buttons on his car and called emma.
"hello?"
"hey, it's luke. can you babysit tonight?"
"sure, all i'm doing is study."
"k, meet me at my house."
"see you soon."
"bye." luke ended the call. "emma can babysit."
"yay!" rose clapped her hands together.
luke drove to his house and saw emma sitting on the swinging bench, patiently waiting for them to get home. she had no makeup on, was wearing sweatpants that said a day to remember on the side and a pierce the veil jumper with a pair of slippers on and her glasses sitting on her face. luke carried rose and she rested her head on luke's shoulder.
"pookie, i'm tired."
"i know princess." luke walked up and met emma.
"hey emma."
"is she tired?" luke nodded.
"she hasn't eaten dinner yet and there is 100 bucks on the table for pizza and whatever shit you want to spoil her. make sure she is-"
"is in bed by 10, ok i know. now go have fun."
"thanks you, you are a lifesaver." luke kissed her cheek and ran back to his car.

"hey bear." luke said, walking up to the table that she was sitting at.
"took you long enough."
"i'm sorry, i had to drop rose's friend off and then i had to get home because emma said she could babysit so then we could have fun and blah blah blah. enough about me though, how was your day? was it good?" mary laughed.
"yeah, it was alright. except ms. fresh is a bitch." luke gave mary a weird look.
"i though ms. fresh was your favorite teacher?"
"yeah, until she called me a slut and called me a shitty singer." luke's jaw dropped.
"you have a beautiful voice and why did she call you a slut?"
"i was wearing a skirt that was just a little bit too short. it didn't even show my ass. i walked into her class and she said, "well, i guess sweet little mary turned into a slut." the whole class laughed. i held the tears back. she then said, "you know, you aren't a good singer. not even an elementry school choir would want you." i ran out of the classroom and went to the bathroom. i sat in a stall and cried. i started to have panic attack because i was missing class. i went back, makeup was running down my face. i really didn't give a shit about what i looked like at the moment because i was hurt. when i walked in, the whole class stopped singing. the looked at me and laughed, including ms, fresh. at that point, i just grabbed my bag and left."
luke felt bad that he couldn't have been there to backup his best friend,
"awe, bear. i'm so sorry. you didn't deserve that kinda abuse. i really wish i was there to help you. goddammit, why did i have to graduate last year!?"
"there was nothing you could've done. ms fresh would've still called me a slut, and a shitty singer, everybody would've laughed, i still cried in the bathroom stall, and i still would've left the school completly."
"you should start doing internet school. it's so cool. i mean, you don't have to go to several diffrent classes, you get to sit at home in an evan peters jumper on your laptop and do your assignments, and-"
"wait," mary interuppted, "do you do your assignments in an evan peters jumper?" he shamefully nodded.
"but that's not the point here. it's just so cool and you need to check it out."
"i'll ask my mum about it. now, who was that boy you were hanging out with earlier?"
"what boy? what do you mean?" luke sipped the diet coke mary had got delievered to the table.
"come on, luke. you know what i mean."
"oh! that boy. that's michael. i met him at the park when i took rose earlier today. he was pretty cool. his sister met my sister and they became friends so they wanted to hangout at my house. michael needed a ride back to his house. so i gave him one after i dropped off my sister and his sister at my house."
"is he cute?"
"yeah, i guess."
"you know you have to come out."
"i did." luke took another sip of his drink.
"no, i mean to your mom, not to just me. she will support you."
"maybe, but i've heard her talk about gay people before. note that my mother is very religous. she said that gays are satan's children. i don't think she will aprreciate her son being a so call devil child. i never really cared for religion."
"i know, that's why we are both athesists. plus, i don't think she will care if you are bi, luke. she loves you."
"love can be broken," luke stated. mary put her hand on luke's.
"please, just do it. and if she disowns you, then you can stay at my place until you can get a place of your own."
"thank you, bear. have i told you i love you lately?"
"you told me this morning, and last night and yesterday morning."
"well, that's because i mean it." mary lifted her hand off of luke's with a smile.

luke took his key out of his pocket to unlock the door to his home. when he finally got it out, he unlocked the door. he was greeted with the laughter and giggles of emma and rose. they were hidden in a fort.
"i'm home!" rose ran out of the fort and hugged luke. luke picked her up and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"did you have fun?" emma asked, walking up to them.
"yeah, it was nice just to chill with her."
"well, i'll be going now."
"you don't have to leave yet," luke protested.
"i need to get home, my dad said to be home when you came home or bad things will happen." luke understood.
"you really need to get your own place."
"i know, 2 more weeks." what emma meant is graduation is in 2 weeks, same with her birthday.
"see ya later, emma!" luke yelled as she walked down the driveway .
"night, luke."
