"MIKEY, he's so cute!" Eddie says, more exasperated than he probably should be. The taller boy is probably over how much Eddie talks about Richie; he brings him up in half of the conversations they have, but Mike doesn't seem to mind.
"Literally, look! I'm dying Michael, I'm literally melting," He pushes the phone into Mike's face, who sees the uploaded Youtube video playing. Richie is sitting on his bed playing a guitar and singing some Joji song that he doesn't remember the name of.
Mike grins a little, shifting his sight up to Eddie. "How many times have you watched that video?" He asks, and Eddie flushes pink and clicks his phone off, ducking his head.
Swiftly avoiding the question, Eddie perches himself onto the barstool that sits in front of their island. Their apartment is decently sized since neither of their parents are poor. In fact, Mike's parents are definitely well paid and on the higher end of middle class.
Eddie's mom isn't exactly poor, but since his dad went out of the picture it's been harder for her financially. Luckily she gets some extra disability money, and Eddie has had a job since he was sixteen to help out.
He rests his arms against the cold surface of the island. "I have never seen a human being more cute, like, what the hell," Eddie says dreamily, "Be still my gay heart." With that, he dramatically puts a hand over his chest.
With a laugh, Mike turns away from his tiny friend and opens the refrigerator. "Wish I could agree, but Troye Sivan remains on the throne for the cutest man ever," He says as he pulls out the almond milk. Eddie rolls his eyes and laughs silently.
"I'm gonna see him in less than three months," Eddie says as if he couldn't believe it, and he truthfully couldn't. His finger traces the surface of the counter in patterns.
"My brain is like," He makes a swirling motion with his finger, a charade of something that Mike doesn't really understand, "Go crazy go stupid, you know? Like should I hold his hand? I think if that happened my soul would leave my body."
Mike laughs a little, pouring the almond milk onto a bowl of frosted flakes.
He puts the carton back into the fridge and shuts the door with his foot, turning around to set the bowl on the island so that he's facing Eddie.
"I have a feeling that you should definitely do that."
Eddie's phone chimes. Speaking of the devil— or, wait, should he say angel? Because it's Christmas? Whatever.
