We raced towards the sound that mom had heard. I ran, struggling to keep up. "Ahhhh!" I screamed as I tripped over a fallen log and fell to the ground. A searing pain raked my knee. I looked down at my wounded knee, only to find I twig of the log embedded in my skin. I screamed in pain again, hopeful that someone would hear me and rush to my aid. Just then, an orange cloud of smoke appeared ten paces to my right. I sighed, relieved that someone was here to help me. But out of the smoke came a young man. He was tall and had brown hair and eyes.
I gasped. "Gideon!" I said in shock. Frightened, I backed away, my knee burning as I did so. "Hey, hey, hey!" He said reassuringly. "I'm here to help." "How can I trust you! You tried to kill my sister!" I exclaimed, backing farther up, only to scream in pain again. Gideon looked down, like he was going to say something, "I want to change, and show that I can do good." He said, walking further toward me. This time I didn't move, I was too lost in his deep brown eyes. He knelt down by me and began working his magic to heal the wound. "This might hurt a bit." He warned, ripping the large chunk of wood out of my knee. I covered my mouth, desperate not to scream. His magic carefully took out the splinters. He was obviously being careful not to make it too painful for me. He healed the wound, as if nothing ever happened. "Thanks." I stammered. "No problem, m'lady." He replied. "There he is!" I heard my mom's voice behind me. "Get away from Harper!" Killy shouted. Gideon looked as frightened as I was when I first met him. Emma conjured her magic to her hands, Mom took out her bow and loaded it, and Killian took out his cutlass and pointed it at Gideon.
I knew what I had to do. I got up and limped in front of Gideon, protecting him. "Stop!" I shouted. Everyone looked surprised. I gulped. "He helped me. I tripped on that log and had a twig stuck in my leg. Gideon rushed to my rescue and saved me from my pain." I said, as my family put down their weapons. I turned around to face Gideon. I wrote my number down on a piece of paper and took his hand, placing the paper in his palm. "Thank you." I said again, as he vanished in a cloud of orange smoke.
