I walked into his house. Again, I was surprised by the hyper Molly who sniffed at my toes, not jumping on me this time thankfully.
"Ah Jun ge you're back!" A young boy, probably still in elementary school ran to Renjun. He had similar eyes as Renjun but a more prominent dimple on his left cheek. He looked at me and furrowed his brows as I was a stranger to him. He looked up to his brother with a questioning look on his face.
"Yu, this is my friend Donghyuck 'hyung'. Hyuck this is my brother Jianyu,"
"Hi Jianyu," I crouched down and smiled at him, only to be attacked by the ball of fluff sniffing my toes earlier. Seriously what is up with this dog.
"Molly likes you!" Jianyu laughed at Molly licking my nose.
"Agrgh," I spluttered as Renjun captured Molly from me, turning her direction elsewhere. "Ya think?"
"You're back early," an older boy, still younger than Renjun walked out of his room. I wiped my nose as I got up. Renjun handed Jianyu Molly and the younger boy ran to another room with her. He looked at me with an unfamiliar gaze. Is that a smirk?
"Renshu, this is Donghyuck, Hyuck, my other demon brother Renshu,"
"Hi," I said as I put a fist out.
"Hey, Renjun's boyfriend-I mean friend," he grinned as he fist bumped me. It was definitely not an accident.
"Well, I've got to go and feed the kittens," Renshu sighed. "Speaking of which did you have to put the cat food on the uppermost cupboard ge?"
"Sorry shorty, you need my help?"
"Oh please you're gonna need my help when I grow taller than you,"
"That's what they all say~" Renjun sang. "Anyways Hyuck, the manuscript is in my bag, make yourself comfortable," he gestured to the couch. I smiled and thanked him. He walked to the kitchen with Renshu.
I've finished looking through the essay when Renjun came back with a glass of water. He place it in front of me and sat down.
We stayed quiet for a few seconds. I cursed myself for not saying anything. We both definitely look like fools. Well actually it's just me, Renjun's too pretty.
"H-how's the essay?" Renjun asked, breaking the unwanted tension.
"Ah it's good! I feel bad to be getting an A with you,"
"What makes you think it's not A+ worthy?!" I could tell he was joking
"Whoops my bad cutie," I laughed. "But maybe if I had your writing skills hmmm?"
"Ha, suree," he laughed. "Anyways you wanna see the kittens? Buster still hasn't really opened up though.."
"That's one stubborn cat,"
"No wonder it likes you," Renjun laughed.
"Yah I'm not stubborn!" I said as I followed him up.
"I can practically feel Jaemin and Jeno rolling their eyes right now,"
The three of them definitely looked a little bigger than last time. They look much more healthier too. I crouched down and put my finger in. As expected, Buster raveled his soft brown body around it. I laughed at Renjun.
"Are you sure you don't want to bring him home? He really likes you,"
"Ah, but he has his siblings,"
"Somehow he doesn't mix around with them that much either? It's a little weird,"
I picked up the little brown kitten who looked at me with it's hazel green eyes. It is so pretty to see it like that. I let it sit comfortably on my lap before smoothing it's fur gently.
"Woah!" I looked up to see Jianyu with bright shocked eyes. "How come it likes you so much?"
"Where did you come from?"
"Dunno, but seriously how?"
"This little kid here has been scratched by this cat many times," Renjun explained. He looked at his brother. "Donghyuck hyung found this cat the same time as me, so somehow they've bonded,"
"Just once?"
"Well he came over a few days ago also so they're close,"
"Ohhh," Jianyu said as he picked up the tabby. It licked it's finger. "Awah the kitten's tongue is so rough!"
"Well they need to clean themselves," Renshu said as he walked towards us, Molly following behind. "They use their tongues Yu,"
"How come we don't use our tongues?"
All three of us laughed making the poor child confused.
"Our tongues are different Yu," Renjun said fondly. "We can't lick ourselves,"
"Oh okay," Jianyu said as he played with the kitten.
"So how about it?" Renjun asked. "I mean if you don't want to it's fine but, you're living with Xiaojun hyung right?"
"Yeah, I'll think about it Jun," I said as I stroked it's whiskers. It wasn't really active now so cuddling up to my warm body is something it needs. Other than my previous dog, I never had any other pet. Mainly cause I was scared of enduring the pain of losing the animal itself. The wound is now a scar so, I'd probably think about it. I need to ask my aunt too.
"Ah!" Renjun abruptly got up as he looked at the clock. "I'll have to get ready for work,"
"Go ahead, I'll walk with you," I said. "My house is on the way anyway,"
"Ah that's cool," he left leaving me and his two brothers.
"So, um," Renshu got closer to me, wanting to ask a question. I raised an eyebrow with an amused look.
"Yeah Renshu?"
"Do you like my brother? I won't tell him but I can practically feel the aura from you,"
"Ah, yeah," I sheepishly smiled. "But don't tell him cause I want to do that,"
"Oh really?! When?!" I laughed at how excited he was. He may seem pretty intimidating but he's still a middle school boy.
"Ah, when the time comes," I laughed as I put Buster into the cage. "Promise me you won't tell him?"
"Promise!"
"Ah, so, you think I should do it?"
"Are you kidding? You both are cute as hell and I'm saying this about my brother," he fake-gagged, making me laugh. "If you don't do it I'll start sharpening my knife,"
"Roger that," I gulped. He seems to not be joking.
"Shall we go?" Renjun asked. He was now wearing a plain baby blue T- shirt with jeans. He practically looks good in anything.
"Stop drooling," Renshu elbowed me. I rolled my eyes at him and turned to Renjun.
"Yeah sure. Bye Renshu. Bye Jianyu,"
Jianyu looked up and gave a gummy smile. "Bye Donghyuck hyung!"
Renshu nodded as he waved his hand.
"Bye Yu!" Renjun said,
"Bye Jun ge~"
"Mom and Dad will be back by 8 so take care of Yu okay?" he said to Renshu.
"Yes 'mom' bye,"
"Bye Shu~"
We exited the house and walked along the road. The sun wasn't really bright and the clouds seem to cover the sky in a good way. Renjun looked at me apologetically. "My brothers,"
"They're pretty cute,"
"Jianyu is, but he will become a teenager soon just like Renshu,"
"Renshu seems okay actually. He reminds me of myself a bit,"
"Oh no I have a little Donghyuck for a brother!"
"Yah I'm not a bad brother,"
"I should ask Xiaojun ge next time,"
I liked talking to Renjun a lot. Our conversations were simple and a little teasing here and there. Somehow, I didn't have to put on my tough 'act' in front of him. We just connected. Though of course we are different, we're pretty alike also. It was a great balance.
He's probably the best crush I ever had.
"Here we are," Renjun said as we stopped in front of the bakery. I was disappointed, but then I remembered we had school tomorrow.
"It is fun talking to you," I admitted whole-heartedly. He wasn't expecting that.
"Y-You too!" he said. "I had fun today honestly, thank you,"
Now it was time for me to blush. I chuckled embarrassingly. "Thank you too,"
We stood there in silence, our hearts beating wildly. Should I do it? Should I confess?
"Ah Renjun?"
"Y-Yes?" his dark hazel flecked pupils looked at mine, making my heart pound even faster. I took a deep breath.
"C-Can I be you friend?" I inwardly face-palmed myself. Renjun laughed and shook his head a bit.
"You are my friend already Donghyuck! I thought that was obvious,"
"Ahahah yeah,"
"Anyways I'll have to go," he said sadly. "But I'll text you if I can!"
"Okay, see you tomorrow,"
"You too,"
I watched him walk inside before screaming in frustration. 'Can I be your friend?!?!?!?!?!' I'm becoming such an idiot. I walked under a dark cloud as I got home.
Well at least we're friends.
