Aang had informed me right away when I had first met him, that throughout our journey, I would encounter many hardships. And that I did. From watching Aang, who grew to be one of my closest friends, and war breaking out in Ethiopia soon after our arrival, I knew what I was getting myself into. But I can definitely say, it was worth. Every single part of it.
After years of war, I managed to go to America. It was like a dream come true. It had so many wonderful opportunities. Not only was I able to get a good education, but I also got to share my story. And that was all I could ever want. I could educate people, and help them learn not to take anything for granted. I could tell them about the difficulties I faced. The children who had escaped the civil war in Sudan became known as The Lost Boys of Sudan. And I am proud to call myself a Lost boy.
