I was in History class working on my classwork that I had due today. I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t bored right now. The one thing I wanted to do right now was go home and eat my whole refrigerator.
“Ms. Rosewood?” Mr. Fitz called out
“Yes?” I looked up from my paper.
“Mr. Rogers wants to see you in his office,” My teacher said, going back to grading papers.
I got up, collecting my things since we only have five minutes of class left. I bid Mr. Fitz goodbye and made my way over to Mr. Rogers’ office. I gently knocked on his door.
“Come in,” he said from inside the room.
I walked in, sitting in a chair in front of his desk.
Mr. Rogers has been my counselor ever since I have entered high school. He knew everything about my family which really irked me. He usually called me into his office once in a while to check on how I was doing.
We sat in silence for a while. I was in no hurry to make a move to talk.
“How have you been feeling lately?” he started.
“Fine.” I simply said.
“How are your mom and Cleo doing?” he asked.
I stared at him blankly, my face showing no emotion. “Fine.”
Mr. Rogers sighed, taking his glasses off and placing them on his desk. “Olivia, I know things have been tough, but you at least have to make an effort in talking to us. All we want is to help you.”
I shook my head. “Mr. Rogers, has it ever occurred to you that maybe I don’t need help and that I'm perfectly fine?”
“Ms. Rosewood you have got to stop pushing people away, I always see you by yourself, but lately I notice that you have been hanging around that boy. What’s his name?” he asked.
“Mason?” I questioned.
“Ah! Yes him. He seems like a good lad. I’m happy to see that you are making friends.” He smiled.
“Friend.” I corrected him. “He’s the only friend I made. Can I go now?”
He nodded. “Yes, take care of yourself.”
I got up, walking out of the room.
I had always hated my meetings with Mr. Rogers. It was always awkward and boring in there. I found it funny how they always expected me to speak up and tell them everything like they thought I trusted them. I knew that they were good people and wanted in a way to help me, but honestly I didn’t need it. I didn’t need them pitying me.
The bell had rung and students started to fill the hallway, hurrying to get to their next class.
“Olivia!” Someone squealed.
I turned my head to come face to face with Maddie.
I gave her a small smile. “Hey, whats up?”
“The sky.” She giggled.
I laughed a little. “Very original.”
“Oh my gosh!” She gasped all of a sudden.
“What?”
“Its Ashton.” She whispered.
I looked at her in confusion. “What about him?”
“He’s walking right towards us.” Maddie hissed.
I looked up at the boy that was walked passed us meanwhile Maddie was hiding behind me as not to be seen by him.
“He was the one that dumped you?” I asked.
she looked down sadly before saying “Yeah.”
“Something is honestly wrong with that boy.” I muttered.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.” I replied.
“Can you not mention anything about what happened between Ashton and I to Mason? If he finds out what happened than I’m afraid he will go crazy and try to murder Ashton,” she said.
“I promise, I won’t.” I smiled.
“Thank God. Mason can be annoying sometimes with how protective he can be,” she said.
“Mason seems like a good brother.” I stated.
“I guess. Do you have any brothers or sisters?” she asked.
I was about the reply when someone interrupted me.
“Olive, hid me!” Mason yelled, running over to me.
“Oh gosh, what did you do?” I asked, crossing my arms.
During this time the principle walked out of his office. His face was red signalling that he was angry.
When he spotted Mason he pointed his finger at him, signalling him to come over there. “Mr. Walker, come over here!”
Mason groaned walking over to Principle Morgan.
I didn’t know why, but I starting laughing at Mason, teasing him about how he had gotten in trouble.
“And you also Ms. Rosewood.” The Principal added.
I could feel my face getting drained by blood while Mason was over there snickering at me. Oh how I wanted to take a shoe and throw it at his face.
I walked over to the Principle, following him along with Mason into his office.
“Now, I want to know why on earth you would throw a stink bomb into the teachers workroom, Mason?” Principle Morgan said when we finally sat down. “And Olivia, I was informed that you were in on it to. Is this true?”
“What! Sir I had no pa-”
“She helped me plan it sir. You know she may look quiet and innocent on the outside, but on the inside she is a dangerous little genius. It’s the quiet ones you need to look out for.” Mason smirked.
Principle Morgan looked over at me expectantly. “Ms. Rosewood, is this true?”
Mason gave me a look as if to say ‘say otherwise and you’re dead.’
I gulped. “Y-yes sir.”
“Very well than. You two have detention after school for the next three days for your childish behavior. You guys are dismissed,” The Principal said.
After walking out of the office I smacked Mason upside the head.
“Ow!” He exclaimed, rubbing his head. “You’re so violent.”
“Thats for getting me into that mess.” I hissed. “Why would you even do that?”
He grinned. “I was bored and needed some entertainment besides, I couldn’t go down alone, I needed to drag someone down with me.”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re unbelievable.” I walked away from him.
He catched up to me. “Think of it this way, at least now you will get to spend more time with your unbelievably handsome and amazing friend.”
I playfully shoved his shoulder, my lips twitching up into a smile. “Mason, you sure are something.”
