Day 11 of CountDown to Christmas

"Kai" you shouted as soon as you woke up. You were staring outside the window just watching the snow dance in the light, a choreographed ballet conducted by the gentle wind. It was beautiful as your eyes grew wider every minute you watched it. You felt like a little kid again just watching the snowfall. Even with shouting his name Kai stayed asleep next to you barely moving an inch. You couldn't believe that Kai was still asleep even after you shouting his name really loudly. If there was an earthquake right now he still probably wouldn't wake up. The excitement was too much for you though you needed to share it with Kai so he wasn't getting any more sleep. You started to shake Kai and slowly he came around and started to wake up.
"What?" He grumbled in his morning voice. You couldn't spend too much time though dawning on it. You would usually listen to him speaking just to hear his morning voice but today you couldn't. You were too excited about the snow that was falling outside to have a proper conversation with him or even listen to what he was saying.
"It's snowing." You said the awe obvious in your voice. This made Kai sit up and rub his eyes to try to wake himself up some more since he was still near enough asleep. You couldn't stay in bed any longer. You left your instincts to take over getting out of bed and putting shoes on immediately. You didn't care that you were in your pyjamas. You didn't care that it was freezing outside all you wanted to do was go outside. Kai immediately got out of bed to follow you also in his pyjamas. As soon as your shoes were on you ran to the door and slammed it open. The street looked like an unfinished painting. So much of the canvas was still perfectly white as if waiting for the artist's hand to return. The morning light struggled through the murky cloud, but even in its weakness, it was enough to blind. The air was, of course, cold, but you hadn't expected the same dampness that comes before the rain. Moving from the overbearing heat of the kitchen to the conservatory was like sipping on ice-water in the heat of summer until your lips went blue and you and Kai ran back into the comfort of your home. You didn't stay inside long though putting on all your warm clothes before going back outside.
"Kai" you shouted as soon as he walked back out of the front door. You had grabbed some snow and made it into a snowball so you could throw it at him when he walked out of that door. You had to wait for him to move away from the door though so it wouldn't get inside the house. As soon as he was away from the door you through the snowball and it hit him straight in the face. The giggles immediately left your lips as soon as it hit him in the face. What a good shot it was to hit him straight in the face. You were never that good at aiming so you were surprised it managed to hit him let alone in the face.
"Oh no! I'm going to get you back for that!" Kai said starting to gather some snow to make a snowball. As soon as you noticed what he was doing you began to make more snowballs knowing that this would end up in a snowball fight. When you were making a snowball you felt something hit you and you knew it was a snowball and when you looked up your saw Kai looking at you with a guilty smile on his face. You didn't even say anything to him just grabbed some of the snowballs that you made and pelted them him. Kai retaliated by making snowballs and throwing them at you and it turned into a full-on snowball fight. The two of you were running down the street laughing like you were little kids again. Luckily not many people lived in the street because of how noisy you and Kai were being. Screaming, shouting and laughing at each other. When you were bent down to make some more snowballs Kai came up behind you and tackled you into the snow. He turned you over so you were face to face with him. He was sat on top of you not doing anything for a second just staring at you and when you went to open your mouth to ask him what he was doing he got the mischievous smile on his face. His hands went to your sides and immediately started to tickle you. You started to wiggle around laughing so much that your stomach and sides started to hurt. You couldn't gather enough strength to push him off of you though so he continued to tickle you.
"Do you surrender?" Kai asked you. Stopping tickling your sides for a couple of seconds so you could catch your breath and answer him. Instead of giving in to him you shook your head thinking he would stop anyway. How wrong you were. He went straight back to tickling your sides not stopping so you could catch your breath. It was constant laughter and tickling for 5 minutes till you needed to give in. You needed to give in or else you would probably end up peeing yourself from laughing too much.
"I give up." You said laughing like mad after some more time of him tickling you. You had no idea how you managed to get those words out when you were laughing so much but you managed to. As soon as you said those words Kai pulled his hands off of you and stopped tickling you but continued to sit on top of you. Surprisingly he wasn't squashing you though because the way his legs were on the floor he was putting all of his weight on his legs so he wasn't squashing you.
"Let's build a snowman," Kai said finally rolling off of you. You sat up and slowly began to stand up. You could feel the wetness from the snow going through your trousers and even though it was uncomfortable you still continued to play in the snow with Kai. Nothing could stop you from playing in the snow. Maybe frostbite but that was it. You and Kai agreed with each other that he should do the bottom of the snowman whilst you do the head. It took a while to roll up a ball of snow that was big enough to make a head and sturdy enough so it stays on the body that Kai was rolling up. You kept trying to roll up the head but every time you got so far it would just break so you would have to start it again. Kai eventually rolled up the body of the snowman making sure it was near you so that when you had rolled the head to a good size it would be easier to pick up and place on top. You just continued to roll up the head as Kai left the body next to you whilst he ran off in another direction probably to get some stones and sticks for the snowman's face and arms. Whilst he was doing that you finally managed to finish the head and put it onto the body and make it stable. You stepped back just watching it for a couple of moments to make sure that it didn't fall which luckily it didn't because you couldn't be bothered to remake it again for the thousandth time. As soon as that snowman part was done you turned around and sat on the steps outside of your house waiting for Kai. Your trousers were already wet so it didn't matter if they got wetter now. You looked around admiring the beauty of snow. Snow rests upon the bench as if it was a feather cushion, soft and warm. It covers the rich, deep wood in perfect white. The snow if gift-wrapped that only spring will open, in the warming weather, revealing the engrained beauty that lives below protected in these long winter months.
"What do you call a Snowman's dog?" Kai asked you knocking you out of your thoughts and when you turned to him he was grinning like an absolute idiot with the sticks and stones in his hand. You knew that this would turn out as one of his stupid jokes that he's really proud of. You just shrugged your shoulders so that Kai would tell you the punchline of his joke. He stuttered a bit before saying the answer probably trying to remember the correct answer.
"A slush puppy!" Kai said laughing at his own joke. Even though it wasn't funny you could feel your lips turning into a smile. It was just because of Kai laughing though. His laugh always makes you smile because it's one of the best noises in the world. It is one that you could listen to all day without getting bored of it and even without meaning to you hear his laugh and automatically start to smile.
"Let me tell you another one," Kai said once he stopped laughing. He was still excited though to tell a joke. He made a face. The face he always makes when he's thinking probably racking through all of the jokes that he has in his head to tell you one. There is probably a dictionary full of jokes just in his head but he was most likely thinking of the funniest one to tell you. This was a daily occurrence him telling you jokes and somehow he seemed to have a joke for every type of topic that you talked about and they were near enough always different. You had no idea how he did it but somehow he does.
"What do you call an old snowman?" Kai said once he had figured out what joke to tell you. He was already laughing before he even finished telling you the joke. You were about to ask him why but Kai didn't allow you already deciding to tell you the punchline. He managed to only get it out with you understanding him when he stopped laughing.
"A puddle," Kai said laughing once again. You just rolled your eyes completing ignoring him now. He was very easily entertained.
"Let's just put these on the snowman." You stared standing up and walking over to where Kai was stood. He passed you the stones whilst he held the sticks and put them on the snowman for the arms. You had the stones so carefully put them on the face making sure you don't press them too hard so that the head falls off. Luckily you made the face of the snowman without the head falling off but unfortunately didn't have any scarves or a hat to put on him so he was naked on that front. You didn't even have any carrots for a nose so he wasn't able to smell but you did make sure to put bottons on him because you couldn't forget that he had a top on which needed buttons.
"Our snowman." You said standing next to him and hugging it. Kai took a photo of you with the snowman hugging it and standing next to it and then took a selfie of all three of them together. He also took a picture of the scene around them wanting a good picture of the snow. After some thought, Kai decided to post it to Instagram. He doesn't post a lot about your relationship but for some reason he wanted to so he asked you and after you looked at the pictures you agreed not thinking you look to and in them. He posted it with the caption 'If kisses were snowflakes, I'd send you a blizzard🌨⛄️' Kai showed you the caption and you tried but you couldn't help yourself and you started to laugh and shake your head at him. Only he would be someone to have a caption like that but it was too funny to you, you couldn't find yourself to care.
"Come on let's go for a walk," Kai said once he was sure that the photos were up onto Instagram. You nodded your head knowing that a walk would be good and even though it is freezing the air was nice and it was nice to be outside a bit especially after being stuck inside for song long because of the rain. Also, a walk would hopefully warm you up a little bit more because you would be moving around. Kai grabbed your hand and you both started to walk down the snowy street together. Luckily for both of you since you were holding hands it slowly started to warm up your hands a little bit. It was only a little bit of warmth but right now it was better than nothing. You both walked together for about 10 minutes before Kai turned to talk to you. His cheeks and nose were rosy red from the cold so you could probably guess what he was going to say or ask.
"Right let's get back inside or else we're going to freeze to death," Kai said bringing you back inside. You probably would've argued against him dragging you back inside however you couldn't feel your fingers so it was probably for the best you go back inside. You could always go back out later when you warm up and get the feeling back in your fingers. It had only just gone past midday so still had a lot of time left in the day also it would probably still be there tomorrow as well but you needed the feeling back. It didn't take long till you were back in the house into the warmth the two of you walked as quick as you could back to the house before anything else could freeze although it felt like most of your body was frozen.
"Let's get changed as it will be warmer," Kai said immediately going up the stairs and you followed him knowing it would be a good idea. Running up the stairs you went straight to your room seeing Kai getting changed out of his warm winter clothes that were no longer warm into a pair of joggers and a jumper knowing that would be warmer. You followed his lead by also changing into some joggers and his jumper knowing his jumper would be warmer than one of yours. Even after getting changed out of your wet winter clothes you were still freezing and even though you knew that you wouldn't warm up that quickly you kinda hoped you would warm up a little bit but you were shaking from how cold you were. As soon as Kai noticed that you were shivering he wrapped you up in a hug until he came up with an idea.
"Right I'll get the fire on and you start making the hot chocolate because they should both warm us up," Kai said to you pulling away from the hug and taking you into the kitchen so you knew what to do. He turned away from the kitchen trusting you to make the hot chocolates whilst he sorts out the fire. You made the hot chocolates without spilling anything on you and you quickly put the whipped cream on top quickly because the fridge was cold therefore the can that the whipped cream came in was also freezing cold. You were debating whether or not to actually put whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate but you thought you should or else Kai would probably throw a fit over it. You put the whipped cream on it with some marshmallows then just held the mug in your hands hoping it would warm them up. You would carry them into the living room and meet Kai in there but your hands were still shaking so you wouldn't be able to carry them without spilling some of it on the floor. Luckily for you, Kai came into the living room to help you carry them.
"Come on lets cuddle in front of the fire to warm up," Kai said to you grabbing the hot chocolates out of your hands so you could sit in front of the fire with the blanket. You could hardly hold your hot chocolate because of how much you were shaking because of how cold you were even though you were just stood with a hot chocolate in your hand. You grabbed the pillows throwing them on the floor in front of the fire before grabbing the blanket and wrapping it around yourself and took a seat on one of the cushions in front of the fire. Kai placed the hot chocolates on the floor in front of you before taking a seat on the other pillow and pulling the blanket to cover him as well. He moved closer to you before grabbing both of your hot chocolates and passed one to you. The two of you sat in silence just enjoying the warmth's the fire and hot chocolates and the cosiness of just the fire was warming you up greatly however it was also making you tired. The warmth always makes you sleepy like a lot of other people and you could really do with a nap. Once you drank your hot chocolate you placed it down on the floor and manoeuvred yourself so your head was placed on his lap and the cover was covering you fully. His hand went straight to your hair and ran his finger through it. It didn't take long till you were asleep in his lap. You didn't know how long you would be asleep for but you needed this nap.
