Notes:
*Mei, their daughter is 6 years old
*Karma and Nagisa are both 28 years old
*Mei has light, short blue hair and Karma's eye color
*Asano works with Karma
Nagisa POV
Today was just an ordinary day, like everyday.
I was in the front seat along with my mother who was driving. Mei, our daughter, was in the back seat playing with the teddy bear Karma got for her.
Mom was planning on moving to the states soon with her new husband so she wanted to spend every possible moment with us before she left.
Sadly Karma couldn't come today because of a meeting he had to attend
As we were nearing our destination to the park I got a call
"????"
I looked at the number before answering
"Karma, aren't you in a meeting?" I answered with a serious tone
"Hey, how's my wonderful wife doing?" He tried switching the topic
"And how's my wonderful husband doing at his meeting?" I replied
"Dont worry we're on a break, I just wanted to check on you guys"
"We're fine" I answered blankly
"Are you still mad at me?" He asked
"What do you think?"
"Look I'm sorry, but I couldn't miss this meeting"
"I know, but you're always busy and barely spend anytime with us. Not to mention this is the last day mom is going to be in Japan"
"Nagisa"
I turned to look at mom
"it's not his fault" she spoke
I sighed knowing that she was right
"I'm sorry Karma"
"It's fine Nagisa"

It was silent for a few seconds until Karma spoke up
"Have you guys made it to the park yet?" He asked
"We're almost there"
"Make sure to by Mei her ice-cream"
"Geez Karma, you sure love spoiling our daughter"
"How can I not?"
"....."
"There's always next time" he said, probably sensing my disappointment
"I guess....call me when the meetings over"
"Wait!" He yelled
"What?"
"Can you pass me to Mei"
"Sure"
I turned around and smiled at Mei
"Want to talk to papa!"
"Papa!" She screamed in excitement as I handed her my phone
"How's my baby girl doing?"
"I'm having so much fun! Grandma even promised me that I would get to touch a dog at the pet shop!"
"That's great"
"Hehe!" She chuckled
"Can papa ask for a favor?"
"Yep!"
"When you have the chance can you give mama a big hug for me"
"Yep!"
"But keep it a secret ok"
"Ok! Secret!"
"That's my girl"
"Love you papa"
"Love you to"
Mei handed me the phone and I said goodbye to Karma before hanging up.
Once we arrived at our destination we parked our car and began getting out.
As I was helping Mei out of her seat she automatically threw her arms around me
"What's wrong Mei?" I asked, confused by her sudden gesture
"We love you mama!"
"We?"
"Yeah! Me and papa!"
I felt my lips curl up and I hugged her back
"Did papa tell you to do this?"
"Yep!"
"Thanks"
Timeskip
Once the day was almost over we headed inside the car
"You must be tired mom, let me drive"
"It's fine Nagisa, I'll drive"
"No, you need to be well rested if you don't want to miss your flight in the morning."
"Ok" she agreed before sitting next to me in the passenger seat
As I was driving us back home I couldn't help but notice the truck behind me getting rather close
"!!!"
The lights of the truck were getting brighter
I began driving faster that I eventually lost sight of it.
"...."
I sighed in relief after losing it and continued driving.

The drive was rather quiet, both my mom and Mei were fast asleep. The only sound was the soft music from the radio.
As I continued driving I saw bright lights approaching from behind.
I was surprised to see the truck again.
Just as I was about to drive faster to loose it, it crashed us from behind, pushing us to the other side of the road.
"Urgh" the airbag protected me from hitting the wheel
"Mommy!"
"Nagisa!?"
I turned around to face Mei who was crying, not sure of what was going on
"Its ok Mei, everything is-"
Hoonk!Honk!
I turned back around and saw a bright light coming towards us
"!!!"
Before I knew it everything was dark
3rd person pov
Honk! Honk!
Another truck that was headed in their direction was too close that they were not able to dodge them.
It crashed the front of the car, flipping them over

"Nngh" Nagisa slowly opened her eyes not processing what just happened.
Her face had many cuts and scratches, her body covered in blood and bruises.
To the onlookers there was a ton of noise, it was chaotic.
There were people outside their cars, people calling the ambulance, but to Nagisa the only sound she heard was a deep ringing.

"...Mom...."
"...." no response
"Mei...."
"..." no response
She tried to move her head but couldn't
"Mei!" She yelled out, still not able to hear because of the ringing in her ear
"Someone...please...help us...." she began letting out tears
A few minutes passed and the ambulance finally came.
"Help..." Nagisa whispered
One of the men came and held her hand to reassure her
"It's alright now, we're going to help you"
"My daughter...help her"
"Don't worry, we'll help them"
The group of paradmics began assisting in taking them out of the car.
Her mom and Mei were taken out of the car and immediately taken to the hospital.
However, Nagisa was still stuck.
Since the front of the car was destroyed everything was pushed forward, squishing Nagisa's legs
"We're going to need assistance!" One of the men yelled out
Karma pov
It was already late when I got home.
But to my surprise I didn't see Nagisa's car.
'Are they still out?'
I entered the house and took my shoes off, going to the room to take a shower

I had gotten out of the bathroom and placed a towel around my waist.
When I was in the room about to put on my shirt and shorts I heard my phone buzzing.
It was probably Nagisa
I looked it up but the caller ID wasn't from her it was the hospital
"???"
I answered right away
"Hello?"
"Is this Akabane Karma?"
"Yeah, what's wrong?"
"There's been an accident you're family is in the hospital"
"!!!"
I hung up and quickly got dressed before heading out.
When I got to the hospital I ran to the front desk
"Where are they?!"
"Sir please calm down"
"Where's my family!?"
Just then a doctor walked up to me
"Akabane Karma?"
I turned around and gripped his shoulders
"How are they!?"
"Your mother-in-law is fine, but your wife and daughter are in critical condition"
"!!!!" After hearing those words I felt my heart drop
"We'll do the best we can, but we advise you prepare for the worst"
"...."
The doctor walked away and I was left standing in the hallway in despair.

2 hours passed by and I was in the waiting room with Isogai and Kayano
"It's my fault"
"None of this is your fault Karma" Isogai spoke
"It's no one's fault" Kayano joined in
Just then the door opened and Asano stepped inside with his phone in hand.
"They arrested the driver. He was the son of the guy you didn't do business with. He said he wanted to get revenge on you by hurting your family"
"Where is he..." I glared
"Dont worry, I handled him"
"If anything happens to them I want him dead"
"....."
"....."
"...."
They all only responded with silence

3rd person pov
Another 2 hours passed by and the surgeons finally came out.
They all stood up
"...We're sorry, but your daughter didn't make it"
After hearing those words Karma fell to his knees
He was in disbelief.
His daughter was gone, Mei was gone
"What about Nagisa?" Asano asked, still trying to maintain his composure
"She's still in surgery"
"..."
Once the surgeon was gone Asano looked down at Karma as well as Isogai and Kayano who were by his side, slowly letting out tears
"Dont loose hope" was the last thing he told Karma before he left, ready to deal with the man who caused the accident.

Another hour of waiting and the surgeon entered.
Karma looked up, no life in his eyes.
He was prepared for them to tell him he lost Nagisa as well.
"Your wife is safe"
"!!!" His eyes widened
"That's great" Kayano cried out and hugged Karma
"Is it possible to see her?" Isogai asked
"Yes"
Karma pov
Once they told us the room number Isogai and Kayano let me meet with her first.
I slowly entered the room and it hurt me seeing her in such a condition.
There lay her almost lifeless body, wrapped in bandages.
"Nagisa..." I whispered her name and felt tears escaping my eyes
I took a seat next to her and held her hand
"Thank you...thank you for being alive" I cried placing her hand on my cheek

Two days later I went to the morgue to see Mei one last time before she would be cremated.
"You were the best miracle we could have ever asked for"
"....."
"Sorry that mommy couldn't come, but she's recovering right now"
"...."
"Remember that mommy and daddy love you very much and you'll never be forgotten" I fought back the tears from escaping my eyes
Timeskip
After Mei was cremated I took her ashes to the sea and headed back to the hospital.
When I entered Nagisa's room I was surprised to see her awake
"Nagisa!" I ran up to her
"Karma?"
"How are you feeling!? Are you in pain!? Shall I call the doctor!?"
She smiled and cupped my cheek
"I'm fine, how's mom and Mei?"
"......" I looked down
"Karma?"
"You're mom is fine"
"And Mei?"
I could tell from her voice that she was getting worried
"She...." I froze, not sure what to tell her.
"What happend to our daughter?" She spoke more seriously
"She didn't make it, she was cremated today" I said looking down, not wanting to face her
"....." she was silent
When I looked up to look at her I saw her in shock.
"N-Nagisa...."
She lifted her blanket ready to get up
"Nagisa!" I tried pushing her back on the bed
"Where is she!?" She yelled ignoring me and once she got off the bed she imideiently fell
"Nagisa!" I ran to her
"...."
She only looked at her legs in shock
"What's wrong?!"
"My legs, I cant feel them"
"!!!!"

The doctor had come to check on her and as they were finishing they let out small sigh
"What's wrong?" I asked seriously
"She's paralyzed from the waist down"
"What do you mean paralyzed!?"
"During the accident I heard her legs were crushed-"
"But you did surgery on her!"
"We did but it was to fix her bone and remove any glass"
"You call yourself surgeons!" I was about to punch him when
"Karma!"
I froze and turned to look at Nagisa
"Where did you take Mei?"
".....the ocean"
"I want to go"
We both looked at the doctor who let out a sigh
"We'll provide you with a wheelchair"
3rd person pov
A month following the death of Mei, Karma has been taking Nagisa to a physical therapist so she would be able to walk again.
Asano as well as their other friends were very supportive and helped them whenever possible.
Although the two lost their daughter they continued on with their life.

The two were currently on a cliff, looking over the ocean.
Nagisa was in her wheelchair and Karma stood beside her.
"...Hey Karma" Nagisa spoke
"What is it?"
"Do you think she's looking over us?"
He smiled and kissed her head
"Yeah, she's out little guardian angel"
After hearing karma say that nagisa smiled in relief
"Let's go home" she spoke
"Yes" karma agreed and both went on their way
Notes:
*Asano was the godfather of Mei
*In the part where he left to deal with the culprit he was actually going to personally beat him up and let out his frustrations (he was deeply affected by Mei's death but tried not to show it because he wanted to be strong for Karma and Nagisa)
*Nagisa's mom wasn't heard from again because once she recovered her new husband quickly took her to the states with him
*Nagisa would eventually recover and be able to walk again
