Andrea's POV
Out of everyone on the whole freaking planet, she thought. Why Stone?
She knew who her North was, of course. The school's rebel and prized slacker. Labeled as a bitch and, well, a stoner. Those were rumors, of course. But there were so many other rumors that Andrea had always wondered if there was some truth to them.
She shifted her weight from one foot to the other nervously, looking her over. Rumors aside, she was really hot. Long, dark, silky brown hair, glossy lips, and the nicest hazel eyes Andrea had ever seen. The rebel was wearing black, tight skinny jeans and a grey t-shirt that accentuated all her curves, and a worn-looking leather jacket that looked warm and cozy on her, and Andrea found herself wanted to snuggle into it; into her.
The smirk had melted from Stone's face, and Andrea could tell she was probably checking her out, the same way she probably had to her. She blushed under the other girl's stare, and Stone must have noticed her red cheeks, because her smirk was back in place.
"Andrea Mills. Not exactly what I expected. How about you? Shocked?" she asked.
"Yeah, a bit," Andy answered, unsure of what else to say. "Um, nice to meet you."
Stone tilted her head back and laughed. She stopped, suddenly, and her expression turned serious.
"So, what's it gonna be?"
Andrea furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"
"Are you going to reject me or not?"
She sighed. This was the moment she was fearing. "I don't know. But my parents aren't exactly going to like you."
Stone nodded in what seemed to be understanding, uncharacteristically serious, as opposed to the way she acted the few times Andy had seen her. She was usually detached and sarcastic.
"I wouldn't have thought they would, babe," Stone answered, her eyes crinkling as she smiled sarcastically.
There's the attitude I was expecting. "Don't call me that," Andrea snapped.
Stone raised an eyebrow but didn't reply.
Andrea looked at the watch on her wrist. "Uh, I should probably get going, I told my friend I'd meet her."
"Oh no, Miss Mills, you're coming with me," Stone grinned. "If you're not gonna reject me, then we should do the meet-the parents thing."
"I told you, my parents are not going going to like you, I think we should just--just--"
"Just what? What exactly do you wanna do? 'Cause you don't seem to want anything to do with me. So, if you really want to end this, just reject me. Simple."
Andrea's jaw dropped slightly and she wasn't sure what to say.

Lucy's POV
"Do you... do you want me to reject you?" Andy questioned, almost in a whisper.
Stone averted Andrea's gaze momentarily and glanced at the ground nervously before looking up again. She never got nervous, and it was sort of embarrassing to know that Andrea made her nervous. It was annoying, actually. She cleared her throat and scoffed at the question.
"If I wanted to be rejected, wouldn't I have just rejected you myself?"
Andrea tilted her head to the side, her face pensive. "So you want to be with me?"
Andrea blushed at what she had said, and tried to correct herself. "I mean, do you--"
"We're supposed to be together. You're my North, that's the whole point," Stone said, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, I guess," Andrea sighed. "You're right. So we should probably meet each other's parents and get this over with."
"The results could be disastrous," Stone commented.
Lucy knew who Andrea's parents were. She lived in the same neighborhood as Andrea's family, so she'd seen them before. Her parents seemed pretty stuck up, in her honest opinion. And guessing from Andrea's hesitance for her to meet them, they were probably ignorant homophobes as well.
"I know," Andrea muttered.

Andrea's POV
"Will you at least try to be decent?" Andrea asked as she and Stone stood outside the Mills residence.
"What makes you think I'm not going to?"
Andrea sighed. "I... don't know."
"Yeah, you don't," Stone answered, sounding slightly irritated.
"Look, I'm sorry, I know I'm acting like a biased bitch, but--"
"It's fine," Stone waved her off. Andrea just furrowed her eyebrows at her. She couldn't figure this girl out.
Opening her front door, she motioned for Stone to enter, and they both stepped stepped inside.
"Mom? Dad? I'm home, and um, I-I brought my North with me," Andy called out.
"Your what?!" Andy heard her mother exclaim from upstairs.
Stone chuckled and muttered under her breath, "This is gonna be fun."
Andrea's parents hurried downstairs, and her heart was practically beating out of her chest. Her mother's eyes widened when she saw Stone standing there beside her, and her father was fuming.
"What is this? Is this some half-assed prank, Andrea?!"
"No, Dad," Andrea raised her wrist so her parents could see her compass glowing red. "My compass turned on this morning. Sorry I didn't tell you when the symptoms started."
Her dad's jaw clenched and he glared at Stone.
"She will not be your North, Andrea. It's bad enough she's a girl. She also happens to be a Stone. I forbid you from talking to an offspring of that piece of scum family."
"Dad!" Andrea's jaw was practically on the floor. She wasn't sure what her father's problem with the Stone family was; she hadn't even knew he had a problem with the Stone family.
"Excuse me? I didn't know my North would have such a fucking prick as a father," Stone retorted, anger flickering in her eyes. My father glared back, furious and shocked.
Oh, shit.
My mother gasped in panic and tried to say something, "Adrian, maybe we should all calm down and talk about this--"
"No. We don't need to talk about it," my father interrupted her. "Andrea, you will reject her, and that's the end of it."

Lucy's POV
Lucy had to admit, she was scared. Really scared. She didn't want to be a Reject. Rejects usually ended up feeling the pull towards their North for the rest of their lives, and even though they might settle down with someone else they love, it's never as great a love as with their North. And as mushy as that sounded, she wanted a great love.
Andrea turned to face her, and Lucy was relieved to see she seemed as scared as she was, even though she herself didn't show it.
"You just have to say the words, Andrea, it's no big deal," Lucy said, not exactly sure why she sounded so nonchalant about this when she was freaking out inside. "Look, I get it. I won't be mad. Just say the words, then this stupid compass will stop glowing, and you can just forget about meeting me and your dad being an asshole."
Andrea's father scowled, his rage not diminishing, and Stone smiled wickedly, satisfied with his reaction. It was pretty fun messing with him.
Andrea frowned at the exchange between her father and Stone, or at least that's what Stone thought she was frowning at.
"No, I'm not rejecting you," she answered, and looked at her dad. "I'm not rejecting her, Dad. What are you gonna do about it?"
For the first time since they got there, Andrea looked very pissed at her father, and Lucy's eyes widened.
"We didn't raise you to be like this, Andrea," her father growled through gritted teeth.
"Hey, old man, shut up. You sound like an idiot," Stone said loudly, getting really angry herself. She didn't like the way he was talking to Andrea. "It's not like she chose me. I wouldn't choose me either."
Andrea's head turned quickly in Lucy's direction. "Why would you say that?"
Lucy ignored her her question and asked another, "You wanna go to Dairy Queen with me?"
"Now?" Andy asked, surprised, but there was a hint of a smile on her face.
"You're not going anywhere, Andrea. Give me your car keys," her father stated. Her mother sighed from beside him, but said nothing.
Andrea gaped at him. "Seriously?" When her father's expression remained stoic Andy sighed, fished her car keys out of her pocket, and flung them at him. Then she looked at Lucy as if asking: What now?
Lucy shrugged. "I have an extra helmet for my Harley."

Andrea's POV
So at that moment they just walked out, which wasn't really that hard since the door was right behind them. Andrea saw that her mother had held her dad back from stopping them, which she was grateful for. The look on his face wasn't a good one.
"Here ya go," Stone handed her her extra black helmet, and Andy put it on. She could hear her parents arguing inside and couldn't help but think it was her fault. She'd never done anything remotely rebellious before, save for staying up late, which wasn't exactly rebellious.
"It's not your fault. It's your dad's," Stone commented, probably having guessed her thoughts. Andy watched as she got on the Harley. Stone looked back at her and smirked. "Are you getting on or did you change your mind?"
Andy shook her head, and after a few seconds of hesitation she got on and put her arms around Stone's waist.
"Unless you wanna fall off, you should scoot closer and hold on tight," she said before starting the motor and driving off. Andrea yelped and did as she said, wrapping her arms tighter, her hands resting on Stone's abdomen, and Andy couldn't help but think that she liked how warm she was.

Lucy's POV
"What do you mean, you don't like chocolate ice cream?" Lucy asked, bewildered.
Andy smiled sheepishly from across the booth they were sitting in. They had gotten to the ice cream shop, and Lucy had wished she could drive around some more, just so she could feel Andrea's arms around her.
"I don't know, it just doesn't really taste like chocolate to me," she answered while eating her vanilla ice cream, making Lucy gasp dramatically.
"You're crazy," she exclaimed, making a point of enjoying her Rocky Road Blizzard. "This is delicious. Come on, try it," she held out a spoonful near Andrea's lips.
"No thanks,"Andy laughed.
"Please?" she smiled coyly, waving the spoonful of ice cream. "For me?"
"Really? 'For me'?" Andrea teased, looking thoroughly amused.
"Yep."
Andrea thought it over. "Hm... only if you tell me your first name."
Lucy groaned and stuck the spoon in her mouth, eating the ice cream herself. "No."
"Aw, why not? I'm dying to know. Please. For me?" she mocked playfully, leaning forward in her seat. Every movement she made was graceful and beautiful, and Lucy was mesmerized. It was as if all of a sudden everyone else seemed dull and monotone compared to Andrea. She sighed in defeat.
"Okay, I'll tell you. But you can't call me by it."
Andy pouted. "Why not? It's your name."
"Nobody will take me seriously at school if you do. It's a ridiculous name and it would be embarrassing. Besides, I'm Stone. I'm not ridiculous."
Lucy had meant that last part as a joke, but Andrea didn't seem to have gotten it.
"Why not? You don't have to be detached and rebellious all the time."
"It's easier that way. Less people annoying you."
"Am I annoying you?"
"No, no, of course not," Lucy replied quickly.
"So what's your name?"
Stone groaned and bumped her head against the table. She could hear Andrea's laughter as she stared at the tabletop. "Lucy."

Andrea's POV
"That's a cute name."
"Nooo," Lucy grumbled as she straightened up. "No. That's exactly what I was trying to avoid."
"But you are cute."
"No. I'm hot," Stone corrected. Andrea made a show of looking her up and down before answering, although she didn't even have to think about it, but it was a good excuse to check her out without looking like a creep.
"Yeah, that too."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah."
Lucy smirked.
"Oh, wipe that stupid smirk off your face, Lucy."
"Agh, at least call me Luce," she said, grimacing in exaggerated horror.
Andrea rolled her eyes. "Fine. Luce."
