The glass transparented and the silvery morning light of the Pacific sun flooded into her room. She was already awake, lying on the bed contemplating the night. It had been something of a rollercoaster. Like being the star in your own film. An interesting, if rather annoying and unpleasant, experience.
Her filofapps were hard at work, sorting and prioritizing the mountains of data accumulating in her in boxes. A chat thread Was flagged and floated to the top, calling for her attention. Hongdong. Requesting status updates and booking her for an immediate cerebral scan to see what, if anything, had changed during the purges.
She replied that the purges had diminished in intensity and that she felt better, more herself (if such a subjective affirmation made any sense), and that she would see Hongdong at the agreed time, but not before. She annexed a summary of her internal inventory. All her systems were in the green. Cognitive capacity was at 87%. Hardly surprising after such a stressful night. Breakfast and a few hours more sleep would solve that.
Breakfast was already in the processor. Sleep would have to wait. She had things to do. She was going to grill Achilles.
