Today's the first day of 11th grade. To say the least, I was pretty nervous but weirdly excited. I don't love school but It distracts me from my thoughts which I do need sometimes.
Once I got to school I go over to the spot I usually meet my friends, I'm always the first one at school. Minutes later my friend Autumn walks over.
"Hey."
"Hiii." Autumn said as she sat down with a big sigh
"How are you feeling about this year?"
"Fantastic, I'm very excited to be swamped in school work. Why did I take so many AP classes again?" She asks with a pout
"Cuz ur a smart ass." I reply
"Well I mean.."
"Yea can't relate there."
The morning goes on pretty slowly as teachers do the stupid "get to know you" stuff. So far it was pointless, I didn't have a very eventful morning. I only have 2 classes with my friends and lunch but I've learned that they're not always going to be by my side so yes it's not very fun, but I'll live.
After lunch I headed to one of my last classes which was creative Skills. When I walked in I saw a bunch of tables instead of desks so I sat down at a random one and went on my phone to avoid social contact until class started. Once the bell rang the teacher Ms.Anderson started to go on about Rules in the classroom and handed out a syllabus. Just then a super tall blonde haired boy walked in looking a bit frazzled.
He started "Sorry I was late"
The boy hands her a pass
"No worries, thank you. Now go take a seat"
The boy started to look around just to realize that the only seat left was the one that was next to me so he took a good look at me and sat down
"Ok, as I was saying. We will be doing a partner project for about this entire semester." She began
"What you will be doing is researching or studying your partners life and with that you will write an essay on what you think their life is like and as a final you will create any type of art that you think represents them. It could be a song, a painting, a drawing, a collage or a mini movie."
"Whoever you're sitting next to will be the person you work with for this project. So your first assignment is to ask them a few basic get to know you questions that we will present at the end. ok go!"
Then I turned to the boy and introduced myself
"Well for starters, I'm India and I'm in 11th grade"
"Wow cool name, I'm Ruel and I'm also in 11th grade" he said with a half smile
He thinks about a question for a second "so what's your favorite color?"
I furrowed my brow and chuckled
"Really? That's what you wanna ask me?"
"Well it's a simple question and I'm curious." He crossed his arms
"Ok that's fair I guess." I laugh
"My favorite color would have to be...hm probably black. Because it goes with everything and it matches my soul." I smirk
I look at Ruel who has a look on face
"Alright then..."
"What about you, what's your favorite color?" I ask
"I really like the color brown." He plainly states
I look at him with a disgusted look
"Why brown its so boring." I say
"Yea cuz black isn't, we're on the same boat here." He scoffs playfully
"Mmmm ok....anyways." I slowly say
"Can I ask you why you were late?" I question
"Well I had a very special meeting." He beamed
"What for?" I ask genuinely intrigued
"You know how artists get signed to record labels for singing n stuff?"
I nod
"Well yea it was a meeting for that, I got signed." He smiled
"Wait for real?!" I ask with big eyes
"That's amazing, congrats." I flash him a smile
"Thanks." He blushes
"Ok wait one more thing. What's your favorite thing to eat." He asks
I take a second thinking before I answer
"I'd have to say Japanese food. More specifically, sushi."
"I love sushi so much, maybe we could go get sushi when we meet up sometime." He said
"That'd be fun, I'm so down. Seems like we already have a bit in common." I laugh
"Ok India, Ruel. You guys are up" Ms.Anderson says before gesturing us to stand up
Ruel turns to me before speaking and smiles
"This is India, she has a really cool name. Her favorite color is black, like her soul as she says and her favorite thing to eat is Japanese food." He says quickly
"So this is Ruel."I start
"He's freakishly tall, especially for an 11th grade boy. His favorite color is brown. He also just got signed to a record label.
"Ok so the last thing I need to tell you today is that starting next week you and your partner need to meet up outside of school at least 2 times a week. You're going to need to get to know each other well."
With that Ruel turned to me
"So maybe we should exchange numbers then." He nervously laughs
"Yea sure, here put your number in." I hand him my phone as he hands me his then we exchange phones
"Ok well I'll probably talk to you later then." He flashes me a quick smile then walks off
This project seemed like it would be pretty easy with him
When I get home I see that I have a message from an unknown number
