The light shined through the window like a ray of hope.
Hope that he would get better.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes which were still adjusting to the light.
'He'll be fine... Right..?'
I got dressed and walked out my door. I took a deep breath.
I started getting a little anxious as I came closer to his room.
I saw Hanji walking out.
I noticed something different about her. She wasn't her cheery usual self.
"Oh... Good morning Levi." She smiled lightly.
"Hey shit glasses... Why so down?"
She sighed and looked around nervously. "Well..."
She took a deep breath and looked me intensely in the eye.
"It's Eren."
My heart skipped a beat.
What could've happened?
He couldn't have... Died...
I gulped. "Wh-What's wrong with Eren?"
She motioned for me to follow her as she started walking into Eren's room.
I couldn't move for a moment, but then started running. I ran into the room and stopped as I saw the doctors changing his bandage.
"It's not getting any better." One of the doctors said lightly.
Eren looked up at me and smiled weakly. "Hi Levi..."
His voice was light and full of pain.
He looked so helpless and weak...
"E-Eren..." I walked toward him hesitantly. "Eren... I..."
They took his bandage, which was full of blood, off revealing the wound.
It was sloppily sewn together and bloody, and it looked infected. The outside skin of it was red and swollen.
Tears welled up in my eyes. "Oh god... Eren..."
"Levi... Don't worry. I'll be fine... I'm sorry you have to see me like this..."
I couldn't say anything. I couldn't move. I couldn't believe how hurt Eren got... Because of me...
Right... It WAS my fault...
I couldn't get in his way anymore...
"E-Eren..."
Eren looked at me in confusion.
"Levi? What are you-"
I had to hold back tears. "I- I can't..."
"Levi, are you okay?"
I couldn't take it anymore. I turned around as tears streamed steadily down my face.
"I'm sorry, Eren."
I walked out of the room.
And that was the last time we would talk intimately.
For a long time.
