Evan POV
I slowly opened my eyes, but every movement sent pain through my body.  It felt as if my own blood was on fire, or had turned into a deadly poison.

Everything was blurry, so I had to blink a few times.  When my vision finally focused, I was back in the living room.

Thank goodness.  I'm not with that...demon girl thing anymore.  I'm back home.  I'm alive.

In a lot of pain.  But I'm alive at least.

I looked around slowly, the movement causing my head to spin in pain.  Quinn was sitting at the other end of the couch, he smiled at me when he saw I was awake.

But what caught me off guard was the strange knife in Quinn's hand.  It seemed to be made of a rock, a jagged black rock that glinted in the faint light from the lamp near my head. No light was coming in from the window, signaling that it's late at night.

"Hello Evan," He whispered, putting the knife against this lips in a shushing position. "It's good you woke up, but it's quite late, so I'd prefer it if you stayed quiet."

I just stared at him, trying to make sense of what I'm seeing and hearing. I must be hallucinating or something.

"It's very, very, good that you woke back up," Quinn whispered, a sadistic look in his eyes. "Killing you wouldn't be very fun if you couldn't scream and struggle."

I opened my mouth to say 'what?', but no sound came out. Confusion filled me. I tried to talk again, but I couldn't talk.

Why can't I talk? Panic filled me. I kept trying to say something, but it was as if my voice had simply disappeared.

Quinn looked at me in confusion before pure glee spread across his face.

"Well it seems as if you can't talk," He mumbled. "That's good, very good, yes, very good. You can't wake the others."

What is going on?! What's wrong with Quinn?! Why can't I talk?!

The thoughts made my head hurt. I squeezed my eyes shut. I must still be dreaming. This has to be a dream. But this is a nightmare if I'm dreaming.

"I'm not Quinn," He said, barely louder than a breath. "Yes, the real Quinn is dead. Buried deep in the Pit. Not Quinn, not Quinn."

I wanted to scream. Every part of my body was telling me to scream. To scream until my throat was rubbed raw. So that someone, anyone, would hear and come to me.

But no sound would come out of my mouth. No matter how much I begged my body to, it wouldn't comply.

"Want to know what I'm going to do to you?" Not Quinn asked me. I didn't move, or answer in any way. "I'm going to kill you, or gut you.  That'd be very fun to see Remus's reaction. Spread your guts all over the floor and paint the room red with your blood."

Please don't.  I begged him, but I knew he couldn't hear me.  I felt tears filling my eyes.  If I wasn't shaking already from the pain, I definitely am now from fear.

"I was given simple instructions on what to do once I infiltrated Quinn's position within the Light Sides,"  Not Quinn said.  "Make sure you die.  Infect Patton.  Kill anyone that gets in my way."

Oh gosh, he's going to kill me and Patton.  He already killed Quinn.  And now I'm next.

"Killing you will be fun," He mumbled, mostly to himself. "You can't scream for help. And you can't run from me because you're in too much pain."

True dread set in as I realized the truth of what the Not Quinn was saying. I can't escape him. Even though I desperately wanted too.

"Want to see what I actually look like?"  Not Quinn asked me.  "Underneath this restricting  flesh."

I shook my head frantically 'no', making my head pound in pain.  I had to shut my eyes to keep the room from spinning.

When I opened them again I was no longer looking at Quinn. An inhuman thing sat where the Not Quinn once was at my feet.

He was ghastly pale, black veins visible just under his skin. There was only a few tufts of black hair in his head. Pure black eyes. Long gnarled black claws in place of his hand. Sharp fangs now filled his mouth, they gleamed as he smirked at me.

"Very frightening, I know," The thing mumbled in a deep low voice that was very obviously not Quinn's.

I begged my body to move. To stop being in so much pain so I can move. So I can go to Remus because I know he can protect me from whatever this thing is.

I begged my body to listen to me. To move or make a sound. Anything so I could defend myself.

"Such a pity to kill someone as beautiful as you," He murmured, standing up. "But I have to finished the job, or I'll die. Death...such a tedious...dreadful...beautiful thing."

Not Quinn moved to my side and placed the knife against my cheek. The cold rock made me flinch.

My breathing grew heavy as true panic set in. I'm going to die. I thought I escaped death, but I should've known it was too good to be true.

He placed the knife against my throat. I willed my body to listen to me. But I remained in some sort of catatonic state. I can't move.

"Get away from him," Hissed a voice from the stairs. I almost cried in relief right then and there.

In a blink of an eye, the thing returned to looking like Quinn. He smirked at me before turning innocently to whoever it was, hiding the knife behind his back.

It was Deceit.

"What's wrong Dee?" Not Quinn asked. "Evan woke up! Isn't this amazing!"

"I know you're lying," Deceit said, moving forward a bit. "You are most definitely not Quinn and what I just say you turn into proves it."

"You can't prove anything," Hissed Not Quinn. "No one will believe you and Evan can't talk anymore. The parasite made him mute."

Deceit seemed shocked by this but he quickly recovered. He looked over at me and I simply nodded my head slightly.

Deceit was about to say something, but a noise from upstairs made us all pause.

"What's going on down there?"
