A/N: hello dearests, comment please. i will do my "fun facts omg" next chapter if I get more than 3 votes or comments on this chapter and then I will just add the ones from last chapter to it. lol makes no sense HAHAHAHA.
"let's do something fun." Beau says.
"I bags doing Jess!" Luke yells. I send him a shocked look.
"shut up Brooks you wish."
"would you rather one of these dickheads?" he says, gesturing to his brothers.
"uh, true." I say, before covertly winking at Beau and Jai.
in the end we decide to go to Melbourne central and do some filming. they call James and Skip and we head into the city to meet them. "Yes! I'm finally going to get to meet these guys!" I say enthusiastically.
"they're dying to meet you." Jai says.
"yeah, I was too but i have to say you're a bit of a disappointment," Beau winks.
"I will kick your ass, Brooks."
"dear god please don't let her harm me."
lol.
we arrive in Melbourne Central and spot the others. they look at me suspiciously. "and who is thiiiiis?" James grins at me. "just some hot girl we picked up from the side of the road, anyway how you doing?" Luke smirks. I scowl at him before stepping forward to James and Skip. "I'm Jess, actually funny story I've slept in your bed before." I say to James. he raises his eyebrows and nods at the others. I look at Skip, smiling. "hey, Skip." he looks at me, then throws his hands up. "okay, hands down, most attractive girl any of you have ever introduced to us."
Luke looks away.
Beau says "I can't argue with that."
James says, "well what about Sarah!?"
"she was hot." Jai says, pointing to James. "but Jess beats her."
"shit. bro, I think we've found her. this is it." James says.
Jai jumps up, fist pumping. "YES!"
we all look at them, confused.
they notice us looking at them strangely.
"well you see, we had this thing where we are trying to find the hottest girl in Melbourne. and we, my friend, have just accomplished that task!" James says, high fiving Jai.
"what.. wha- you guys are- stop!" I say, confused and frustrated. "you're wrong! and you two-" I say, pointing to Jai and James. "that's terrible. you shouldn't be looking for the hottest girl, you should be looking for the nicest girl, or the funniest girl. I can't believe that you would say that- I mean, man!" the boys look shamefully at the ground.
Luke steps in, looking angry.
"and hey guys, I know that Jess is insanely attractive but she isn't just some girl that you can have competitions over! by the way, she beats Sarah by a mile."
"oh my god!" I throw my hands up and walk away.
"what did you guys do!?" I hear Beau say as I walk away.
Luke comes and finds me. he sits next to me on the bench I'm sitting on.
"Hey." I say quietly.
"Hey. so.. sorry I'm ignorant but why did you get so mad that we called you attractive?" he says.
"I know, I know, I totally overreacted back there. it's just.." I trail off.
"I'm sorry-" Luke starts.
"No, no, Luke. I'm sorry. it was really sweet of you guys to say those things, I just.."
"you can tell me." Luke says.
"ugh, I hate it how guys always assume stuff! like they never want to actually get to know a girl, and they don't care what their personality is like, it's all about looks and body and ugh."
Luke is silent for a second.
"it's not always like that." he says quietly. I look up at him, smiling. his hand brushes mine. I get a shock. oh, hey body, want to maybe shut up because no you do not like this guy no. okay. we stand up and head over to where the boys are. "hey, Jess, we're really sorry about what we did, we know it's really shallow and-"
"aw guys, it's okay. I completely overreacted. I'm sorry that I blew off. I know you are good guys."
they sigh in relief. Jai comes and hugs me. "Luke got so mad." he says in my ear. I giggle. "He's crazy." I whisper and he grins at me.
"alright, now that everybody is finished being angry and d'n'm-ing, let's do some crazy shit!" Beau says.
HAHAHAHA! got to love him.
We do some funny shit. I watch them as they film each other doing hilarious stuff and randomly sitting with people, hugging randoms and starting up conversations with complete strangers. Luke stands next to me whilst we watch Skip talking to some Indian guy.
"so." I say to Luke quietly. he glances at me. "you think I'm 'insanely attractive'?" he sighs. "hey, shut up. at least I didn't strip off for you."
I gasp. "oh, YOU. I did NOT strip off for you!" he shrugs his shoulders. "whatever you say, Spark." i cross my arms. "you know what, I don't even care. because you said that I'm attractive! HAHAHA!"
"I didn't! it's all an illusion.." he says as I walk off. "whatever, Luke. you can think that."
"I want a go!" I say to the boys.
"go for it."
I go to a table and climb to sit cross legged in the middle. i pick up some food and start eating it.
"what the-?" some boy says. I smile and nod at him, my mouth full of food. I move over to another persons burger. "Jess?" I hear. I look up. "uh.. Sebastian..?" I say with my mouth full. good one Jess. way to greet your ex-boyfriend.
yeah, Sebastian Everly. kind of a long story on this one.
we were best friends since kindergarten, where our parents were friends. we grew up together and were tight as. like, buddies for life. of course, then we got to high school and it was weird. we kind of grew apart. it was socially unacceptable to have opposite sex best friends, wasn't it? so anyway, when we were in Year 8, probably about 3 months after we stopped talking so much, he came up to me in the hallways at school. he professed his love for me, in front of our whole year. I have to admit, it was kind of weird, seeing as he was my best friend for so long. he was like my brother. but, being the naïve and kind of crazy 14 year old I was, I said yes when he asked me out. we dated for 5 months and I genuinely thought I liked him. but I eventually realised that I didn't like him, and I wasn't happy having him as my boyfriend. I realised that we were friends and that's all we could ever be. sounds terribly grown up, doesn't it? of course when I told him this he burst into tears. and this is where the story gets weird. he told me that he would do anything and that he could change for me and that he was in love with me. I'm pretty sure my exact words were "but.. you're only in Year 8. how do you know that you're in love with me?" after that incident i think he went and told his parents, whom proceeded to tell my parents, whom, god knows why, proceeded to give me a talk on "your body and it's importance" and "the way the universe works to bring new babies into the world" and, of course, the award winning, "how we brought you here, sweetie" shudder. so then, and I'm not even sure what this was, whether it was because of me or something, he kind of developed an eating disorder. in other words, and totally no offence intended here, he got really fat. I tried to be friends with him again but he wouldn't take me. I felt horrible and I honestly didn't expect me breaking up with him to affect him so much. so in the end he moved away to some preppy private school in Sydney and I hadn't heard from him since.
and now I was sitting on a table in front of the one and only, Sebastian Everly, who by the way looked really good. and when I say really good I mean, HOT. he had clear blue eyes like always, and his hair was still the same blonde, but swept upwards away from his face. but he had changed. his jawline was strong and set, his cheekbones were outlined, and his arms. woah. so naturally, being the graceful seductive charmer I am, I spat food onto his face.
"ugh." he wipes it off and I start laughing.
"oh.. oh my god.. I'm so... sorry!" I say in between laughing and total embarrassment.
he looks at me for a moment and then cracks a grin.
"Jess! I can't believe it's you!"
"really? after that little display?"
"well, obviously now I know it's you." we laugh and hug.
"this is crazy! where have you been? you look so good!" I say, jumping up and down.
"well," he says, scratching the back of his neck. "I've been in sydney for the past, what, 2 years? yeah, it's pretty boring there,"
"no way, without me? how did you survive?"
he awkwardly rubs his head. "uh.."
I quickly jump in, nervously laughing.
"so what have you been doing? got a girlfriend?"
"haha, funny that, I actually did have a girlfriend. yeah, she just dumped me."
"oh my god, that's so bad!"
"you want to know what happened, don't you?"
"kind of, yeah." I say sheepishly.
"yeah well we dated for a year and she dumped me like, four hours ago," he says, glancing at his watch. "just before I got on the plane here. she couldn't handle a long distance relationship apparently."
"so why are you here?"
"we moved back here. yeah, my parents actually split up for a while and when they got back together they decided to move back here, I don't know, to 'start fresh in the place they fell in love'... or something." he grins shyly and I laugh. "so.. how are you? looking fine as always." he winks. "ha. ha ha.. that's funny, real funny Sebastian."
he grins. "actually I-" I start before I'm interrupted.
"Yo, Jess! is this your new boyfriend or something!?" James yells at me from across the food court. oh, god. I see Skip sack whack him and he doubles over in pain. I close my eyes.
"so.." Sebastian says, raising his eyebrows at me.
"oh, I'm so sorry Bas, I have to go, there's the guys, I'll see you round!" and I run off, leaving him standing there awkwardly, and half raising his hand as he mumbles, "bye.."
I walk over to the boys.
"ooohh, look who it is, I didn't think she was going to come back to us, I thought she was going to go home with that guy!" Jai teases. "you." I point to him, laughing. "shut up okay?"
"so, did you totally get his number? cause he was totally
ca-yute!" Beau says in a gay voice. "seriously guys, I knew him."
"ohhhhhh." they say in realisation.
"cause from here it looked like you were just casually having a deep conversation with a random guy." Skip laughs.
"That's what I do," I shrug.
we're walking through the carpark when I notice Luke trailing behind a bit.
"hey!" I say, bouncing next to him.
"what's up?"
"nothing. so who was that guy?"
"oh, no one."
"fair enough. is he your friend?"
"why do you care?"
"just wondering."
"are you grumpy?"
"no! I was just curious about that guy!"
"whatever," I say, walking away from him.
"no, Jess," he says, catching my arm.
"what?" I say.
there's a pause where he looks at me and I look at him.
"don't worry.."
"Luke Brooks, one day you will know about me and my anger. and then you will die."
"um.. what?"
"don't worry.."
he sighs.
Luke's P.O.V:
Argh, stupid! that's the part where you unwittingly blurt out that you like her! or is that her job? I just want to tell her and get it over with! so many times today I could've kissed her or said something to her. and then now she met that guy. why was she even talking to that tool? how doesn't she know already how I feel about her? maybe she does. I don't know. and then there's my brothers and friends getting in the way, and how every guy stares at her as she walks past. the longer I put it off, the less chance I have. Jai keeps telling me to man up. I'm not scared, I'm just.. what if she rejects me? god, Luke, thousands of girls out there that would throw themselves at you, and you've got to fall for the crazy girl that can outwit you not to mention she's pretty much unavailable. good one.
we drop Jess off at her house. I get out to walk her up her driveway. once we get to the front of her house, I clear my throat at the same time she says, "so, thank you so much for letting me hang out with you guys, it was so fun! we should do it again sometime?"
"definitely," I say. "you're good at being an idiot."
she laughs. "born and bred that way, baby."
there's a pause.
"I guess.. I'll see you around then." she says awkwardly.
"hopefully."
as she turns I brush my hand down her arm. smooth, Luke.
I'd only taken about 5 steps when I hear,
"Luke?"
I turn around. hell Luke, just get it over with. just say it. just do it. it's not that hard. just three or so words. come on, you can do it. I take a deep breath.
"I'd really like to see you around again." she jumbles out. I smile.
"I would too. please go out with me."
"OH MY GOD! of course I will!" she screams, jumping into my arms.
of course, that would be good too.
instead I just say,
"I would too." smile, and walk away. as I walk away I kick a post.
"good one." I mutter angrily.
Jess's P.O.V:
I close the door and sit against it.
what just happened? all I remember is Luke touching my arm and getting tingly and then telling him that I would like to see him again to which he replied, I would too. what does that even mean? does it mean that he's sick of me now and just wants to get rid of me? oh, god.
Dad comes in to see me slumped against the door.
"Hey, honey. I would ask why you are sitting against the door but today somebody told me that teenage girls get weird cravings and urges."
"urh, daaad. I so don't. somebody lied to Mr. Big Boss!"
he fakes shocked. "no!"
I laugh and take a tub of rainbow ice-cream out of the freezer.
"oh, by the way, Sebastian's parents called me! you know, Sebastian, the one who-"
"YES, Dad! I know!" he chuckles.
"So anyway, they called and said that they're back in town! how great is that! Anyway moral of the story is, they're coming over tonight."
I close my eyes.
"Dad, I don't think I really.. I don't want.. we shouldn't.. oh, don't worry, I'm being selfish."
"Jess, Sebastian's been away for two years, the least you can do is be a friend for him or hook him up with some of his old friends."
"Okay." I say, not mentioning seeing him today. "by the way, them coming over isn't a moral. you, father, should go back to school."
"okay." he says, faking sad. "oh, and please don't eat all the ice-cream, hon." he thinks about this for a second. "why are you eating rainbow ice-cream out of a tub anyway?"
"oh, I just had a craving." I say, not thinking about it.
we both burst into laughter.
"Nobody dares lie to Mr. Big Boss, daughter dearest." he says when we have stopped laughing. "oh, you never know, Daddy. you never know..."
