Hiya. I've been updating like crazy, but that's because I have more free time, for a bit (and because I write during my classes but that's a different story). Plus, I have a three day weekend, with no homework, so that is awesome. Anyway, this chapter was fun to write so I hope you like it. Enjoy!
Nope...not yet. Soon though. c:
_______
Luke.
I watched Calum walk away after we talked. I was glad we talked. After a year of knowing and watching him, I finally made a move and talked to him. I felt more confident in myself.
Once he was out of sight, I wiped the side of my lip, getting rid of the blood that was on my lip after feeding. I saw Calum after I was done feeding on some girl here and took to opportunity to talk to him.
Luckily, Calum didn't see the blood on the corners of my lip.
I was still hungry though. So I grabbed my water bottle on the side of my backpack and opened it. It wasn't see through so it was easier to drink from.
My blue eyes started to go red as I smelled the blood coming from the bottle it was in. I felt my fangs grow in as I sniffed in even more, feeling my patience vanish. Not wanting to wait anymore, I started to drink the blood that was inside.
As I was drinking, I heard someone calling my name.
"Luke! Luke!" A voice called out. I looked up to see a brown haired, browned eyed, guy running towards me. He looked a little upset and that somewhat worried me.
"Yes Hayden?" I asked, taking my water bottle away from my mouth as my eyes went back to blue and my fangs disappeared.
"You...you used your 'thing' on Calum didn't you?" He asked, using quotations marks.
"What 'thing'?" I asked. "You know what I'm talking about. Come on. Calum told me," Hayden said.
I sighed, knowing I couldn't play innocent anymore.
"I can't help it. It just happens with the ones I love okay? I can't control it," I exclaimed, putting my water bottle away.
"I get it. It's cool that you can just have people feel a warm, fuzzy feeling. It's cool. But...can you not do it on Calum? He's really confused right now, and I don't want to expose him to all of..this," he explained.
"Hey, if we're gonna date in the future, he might as well know that I'm a vampire," I said. "I know I know. It's just that...Calum a bit unstable right now so can we just...wait a couple weeks until you talk to him again?" Hayden asked.
"That's just like asking you to stay away from Beau for a couple of weeks. It can't be done," I replied, smirking.
"Okay. You have a point. Anyway, back to Calum. Love. You said love. You're in love with Calum?" Hayden asked. "Well..yeah. He's just...something different. I see something different in him," I replied.
"I know Luke. I know that you really do love him. Just...lay off of the vampire stuff. Calum's just...not ready for all this yet," Hayden told me.
"Can't you just use your magic or a spell or whatever to make him forget what he felt?" I asked. "Luke, we over this. I'm not using magic on my best friend," Hayden replied, sighing.
"You're one of the people I've known the longest. Just one tiny spell, just a little bit to forgot and just have him fall in love with me, just a little bit. I'll take care of the rest," I said in a persuasive tone.
"Let's just say that I do, do this spell because you're one of my closest friends. I do the fancy stuff, Calum forgets everything that you made him feel. And..what the hey, he falls in love with you."
"When, and if he does, it's the spell that's gonna be talking, not him. He's not going to be himself. If I do, do this spell, you're going to fall in love with a spelled version of Calum, not the actual Calum you would know," Hayden explained to me.
"Will you do it anyway?" I asked, knowing he was right, but asking anyway.
"No. You weren't listening the first time did you?" Hayden asked, clearly starting to get annoyed.
"Why not?" A voice asked.
"Because Luke. Do you remember or did you forget? I'm a-"
"Hayden, that wasn't me," I pointed out, looking down the hallway.
"Yes it was," Hayden said.
"No. I'm serious. Someone else is here, and I think I know who," I whispered, putting my backpack down and looking down the hallway, seeing another figure with my vampire sight. He was leaning against the wall, his blue eyes looking into mine.
"Took you long enough," the figure replied, pushing himself off the wall and walking towards me.
"What are doing here Isaiah? You're not even suppose to be here," I told him. "To watch out for my little brother of course," Isaiah smirked.
"Just because you were born, five minutes before me, doesn't make me your little brother. And since when do you care about me?" I asked.
"Yes it does make me older. With twins, even identical twins, there's an older and younger twin. And it just happens that I'm the older one. And well, let's just say I never cared about you. I just wanted to see what you're up to," Isaiah told me.
"That's why I thought I heard Luke talking. You two sound exactly the same. I forgot...because I don't care for you, Isaiah. And because you were using your pathetic power," Hayden said, looking between the two of us, glaring at Isaiah.
I looked at Isaiah. We had the same blue, ocean eyes. The same blonde, quiffed hair, and the same, skinny, but broad, boy shape with hidden vampire skills. The only difference was that I had a lip piercing, Isaiah didn't. Besides that, we didn't look any different from each other.
Isaiah smirked and looked at Hayden, raising an eyebrow.
"Hello to you too Hayden. How are those witchy powers of yours?" Isaiah asked, stepping closer to him.
"It's nothing to you. You don't care about me, and I don't care about you. Let's keep it that way," Hayden replied, holding in his anger.
Hayden didn't have a great history with Isaiah so I understood why he was trying to hold in his anger, and why he was even angry at the fact that Isaiah was even talking to him.
"Oh come on Hayden. We're all friends here. Luke and I are alright now so we can be too. We can forget about the past," Isaiah replied, trying to put his arm around Hayden's shoulder.
Before Isaiah could, Hayden glared at Isaiah and grabbed his wrist. Isaiah started to groan and fall on his knees. Hayden then cracked Isaiah's wrist, making Isaiah scream louder.
"Don't forget, Isaiah. I can kill you, right now. So don't do anything as much as asking to be my friend, touching me, or even thinking about me. If you ever do anything like that to me again, I will not, I will repeat, will not hesitate to kill you. Are. We. Clear?" Hayden growled, letting his power travel up Isaiah's arm, cracking his arm in different weird angles, with each word.
"No. I'm not letting some witch tell me what to do," Isaiah groaned.
Hayden then twisted his wrist even more, sending more pain through his body.
"I'm not some witch Isaiah. I'm a very powerful, immortal, witch, that can kill you within a split second. Now, let me repeat that. Are. We. Clear?"
"Yes..yes..yes we're clear. Very clear. Just..stop doing that. It hurts," Isaiah managed to get out, his voice straining.
"Gladly. I wouldn't want to waste my witchy powers on you anyway," Hayden replied. Hayden harshly let go of Isaiah's wrist, not without cracking it one more time, and letting Isaiah drop to the ground.
Isaiah got back onto his feet and wiped his jeans.
"Fine. We won't talk, and I won't even think about you. Don't forget Hayden, I can kill you too. You may be a witch, but I'm a vampire. I kill to survive. I could kill you in a split second," Isaiah growled, his red eyes and fangs exposed.
"I'm also an immortal being Isaiah, just like you. What makes you think you can kill me before I can kill you?" Hayden asked. "Please. You're the only immortal witch out there. Your pathetic boyfriend, Beau, is a mortal werewolf," Isaiah scoffed.
"What's your point? Either way, he could kill you any day, any time. Werewolves are stronger than vampires in their werewolf form," Hayden replied, holding the collar of Isaiah's shirt.
"Do you wanna test that? I can kill you and your werewolf boyfriend before you guys even have a chance to move," Isaiah threatened.
Before Isaiah could pounce on Hayden, I stood in between the two of the, spreading my arms in front of both of them.
"Hey guys, stop. As much as I wanna hurt Isaiah, Hayden, I would have to live with that guilt, for eternity. So let's...not," I said, stopping them.
Isaiah shrugged then stepped back, letting his eyes turn blue and his fangs disappear.
"Fine. Anyway, Luke, I'm not here to fight with your witch friend. I came here to see you, and to see what's up, and it looked like I came, just in time. That guy I saw you with, Calum, was cute. I would've kissed him by now though, even though he would've just ended up being my personal blood bag," Isaiah told me, smirking.
I grabbed Isaiah and held him against a wall, using vampire strength.
"He's not a blood bag. He's the first guy I've liked in a couple of centuries. So stay away from him. I saw him first. He's mine," I growled, feeling my eyes turn to red in anger.
"Possessive now are we little brother? Maybe if I just waltz up to him and kiss him, on the spot, he'll belong to me," Isaiah replied.
Someone then pulled me away and pushed me. I hit the other wall and looked up to see Hayden between us.
"Calum doesn't belong to you, or you. He doesn't belong to anyone. It's his choice. If either of you lay a finger on him, without my consent, I will hurt the both of you," Hayden said, coming between us.
Hayden looked at me.
"Luke, you're one of my oldest friend, and I appreciate everything you've done for me and everything we've been through. But...Calum's my friend too, my best friend even, and well, I care about him. If he knew who we were...he wouldn't be able to handle it. Our world will have to be kept a secret from him."
"So if you touch him, ever again, without my consent, and use your power on him again, I will not hesitate to hurt you," Hayden warned me.
Hayden then looked at Isaiah.
"As for you, stay away from him. He need to be kept out of this. If you go up to Calum as do as much as kiss him, I will hurt you, and possibly kill you, since I already hate you, and want you dead, for what you've done to me," he warned him.
Hayden then closed his eyes and spread his arms out, mumbling words I couldn't even hear with my vampire hearing.
"Hayden wait-"
Before I could talk to him about it, I felt pain in my wrist. It was bearable until I felt the pain travel up my arm. My shoulder blade cracked and was bent at a weird angle. I screamed in pain as I felt my ankle crack at the same time. I fell on my side and groaned as Isaiah did the same.
Hayden opened his eyes and just watched us. He put his hands down and pain disappeared.
"That's how it's gonna feel, if you decide not to listen. Only, this time, I didn't make the pain go for as long. Next time, it'll be worse," Hayden told us.
He helped me and Isaiah up to our feet.
"I should get to class, or else Ms. Wilkson won't be so happy when I get back," Hayden told us.
"See you later Luke," he told me, giving me a soft smile. "See you around Hayden," I replied. He smiled then started to walk back down the hallway.
"I should probably go too. Dad is expecting me to be back any time now. I told him I was feeding," Isaiah replied. "Then go back to dad," I told him.
"Fine. See you around little brother," Isaiah told me. And with that, he ran out, vampire speed.
I rolled my eyes, grabbed my backpack off the floor, and started to walk down the hallway.
I decided to leave school early. Missing one day of chemistry wouldn't do much. I walked out the front door and towards my car.
Any day I could've used my vampire speed to run to school. But Hayden told me that I risked exposing myself as a vampire I'd I did so, so I drove to school.
I got in my car and drove home.
Once I reached my house, I parked in the driveway and driveway and turned off the car. I grabbed my backpack and shut the door, locking the car.
I unlocked the door and opened the door, to see my friends, Ashton and Michael, making out on the couch.
"Guys, seriously. Why on the couch? Take it to your guys bedroom," I groaned, dropping my backpack on the ground.
Michael pulled away and looked at me.
"One second. I just need to-"
Before Michael could finish his sentence, Ashton pulled on Michael's red hair and pulled him back down, connecting their lips.
I sighed, pulled out my iPhone, and played the few games I had.
I've known Michael for as long as I can remember. Our families ran into each other while feeding on a family of humans, and we've been friends ever since, if you count thousands of years for that long.
We're still together because...well everything turned on us.
Michael and Ashton met in 1974, when Ashton was just a junior in high school and when Michael and I went decided to go to school.
They fell in love, and that's when Michael revealed to Ashton that he was a vampire. Michael also reavealed that love could be eternal, as a vampire. Ashton like the idea that love could be eternal, so he asked Michael to turn him, which he gladly did.
So Ashton was a fairly new vampire.
I was happy for both of them. But coming home from school and seeing them on the couch...wasn't always pleasant. Plus, seeing them making out and hearing them sleeping together constantly, wanted me to find someone I could love.
I was sure that Calum would be that person.
After we moved to Seattle from Sydney a year ago, I was the only one that decided to go back to school, for the next, countless times I've gone, while Michael and Ashton decided to stay home, and make out with each other, all day long.
They shared one last kiss before Michael climbed off of Ashton and sat down on the couch.
"Why are you home so early? I thought you didn't get home until three," Michael told me, fixing his hair.
"Well, I decided to leave early," I replied, sitting on the couch next to theirs.
Note to self, don't sit on that couch until Ashton and Michael sanitize it.
"Did something happen with Calum? Is that it?" Ashton asked, smirking.
"Well kinda...actually, don't worry about it," I finished.
"You use your power on him didn't you?" Michael asked. "Okay okay. I did. Don't give me shit like Hayden did," I sighed.
"No I won't, promise. But Luke..we're vampires. We can't be exposed to the world. We should leave Calum out of this," Michael told me.
"I know. Hayden told me the same thing. I'll be careful next time, promise," I promised.
"You don't have to promise anything Luke. Just be careful next time. We're suppose to stay a secret," Ashton reminded me.
"For a newbie vampire, you sound like you a lot older, way older than me," I joked. "He was a genius when he was human," Michael replied, kissing the top of Ashton's nose.
"You were a genius, for having and finding a way for me to fall in love with you," Ashton told Michael, who kissed Michael's nose.
"Yeah yeah I know. I get the point. Don't use my power on Calum. Don't do anything that will expose myself as a vampire. I shouldn't be the one being told this. I'm technically the oldest one here," I groaned, before Ashton and Michael went further than that.
"You don't act like it. You act like the newbie vampire. Ashton's like the older one," Michael told me.
"I know I know. I just...I get out of control when I'm in love. I can't control any of it. I'm driven by it. Even though I may be the oldest vampire, I can't control it," I replied, looking at my palmy hands.
"We know. It's a vampire thing. It's fine," Michael told me.
"Thanks for your sympathy guys. Hayden is nice and all, but he has his way of...convincing people that he means what he says," I replied, rubbing my leg.
"I guess he and I have something in common. I'm good at telling Ashton that I love him...and I'm good at meaning it, by kissing him," Michael whispered, leaning in more towards Ashton. "Prove it Mikey. Kiss me," Ashton whispered against his lips.
"I'm gonna go take a power nap," I said, walking down the hallway towards my room, before I could witness anything happen between those two.
I got to my room and quietly closed the door. I climbed into my bed and pulled the blanket over me.
Calum and I were going to be together one day.
And I was determined to make it happen.
_______
Hayden is my character so far. He's just so amazing and cute, in my mind. (Help I've fallen in love with a character I've made up.) Anyway, picture of him on the top/left.
