Maddy's POV
Oh god. What am I gonna do? If the public and the media finds out, people are gonna me crawling at my feet to get details, and some organization is gonna steal my boys away from me to do tests.
No one.
And I mean
No one.
Is going to take my boys.
I will fight to keep them here.
No. I don't have to worry. Maybe he's just pulling some stupid stunt. But he has more than one reason to be pissed at us, and I don't see why he wouldn't sabotage us. Ugh! He's ruining our lives.
I got out of the car.
"Get the guys and meet me back here, we need to talk."
They nodded and drove off. I walked in my house and slammed the door. This time I didn't try to stop myself. Who knows what's gonna happen with my boys?
Kicking off my shoes, I raced up the stairs and down the hallway. I almost made it to my room but Ponyboy grabbed my waist and pulled me into his arms.
"Welcome back, beautiful, where are you going?" he asked sweetly
God, do I love him.
I sighed heavily. "My room."
"You don't seem yourself today, your jumpin around everywhere." He brushed my hair out of my face.
"It isn't my day at all, Pony." I sighed.
"Why not?"
"I'll tell you when everyone comes down. Were all gonna talk about it."
He took my face in his hands.
"Okay, but if there's anythin else wrong, you tell me."
I stared into his beautiful hazel eyes.
"I will."
Steve walked up
"Don't start. I don't want to barf up this cake."
"Steve you have no reason to talk. We all know you want to kiss Ellie again." Darry retaliated, watching some stupid show on the tv. I was glad they changed the movie.
He got red and looked down.
"You don't know anything"
I chuckled and continued back to my room. I was still pissed and scared and everything. I don't know. Maybe I freak out too much. But I really do hate the world. It's a terrible thing. That's why I read books. It's so much better. That's why the gang is so special. They are like 102988401% better than the human race. They are part of the 2% of the population that is actually worth something. And of course, it's because they're from books.
I shut the door quietly and laid down on my bed. Maybe this isn't real. Maybe I'm just dreaming. There's no explanation for any of this. And why did it happen to me? Out of the 7 billion people in this world, it had to be me.
I felt myself slowly drifting to sleep. I needed it, I needed to get away from reality for a little while.
But it wasn't exactly as peaceful as I expected it to be. It turned out to be a nightmare.
Bob was there again, haunting me in reality and in my dreams. We were in Tulsa again. I was reliving the moment where he jumped me, this time, a whole lot worse.
"Don't fight with me, broad, I always get what I want." he hissed. His arm wasn't broken this time, so he didn't have to rely on his friends to hold me back.
He tied my hands behind my back, and my legs together. Then he cut my mouth again, to get me to shut up. But I still yelled, despite how bad it hurt when I did.
"Put her in the car." Bob demanded, and his cohorts picked me up.
I struggled to escape their grasp, but 1 weak girl against 3 strong guys wasn't going to end up well. They threw me in the backseat of their blue mustang.
I yelled for Ponyboy, mostly, but I just wanted someone from the gang to save me.
It wasn't any use, no one was around, and they drove away with me.
Bob ran his finger down my cheek, filling me with rage and fear.
"You asshole, you'll never get away with this." I scowled.
He put his finger on my cut lips, his breath chilling every bone in my body.
"Shhh, calm down girl."
I wasn't going to take any of his shit, and I bit his finger with all the strength I have.
"Fuck!" he yelled, shaking his bleeding finger. "Your gonna regret that, broad."
We reached a place where the houses were huge. I knew it was the West side, where all the Socs roam. We wouldn't have problems if they stayed in this side of town instead of invading ours.
Bob shoved me out of the car and I felt all hope leave me. This was the west side. The gang wouldn't be here, just people who worship Bob.
At least, that's what I thought.
He was about to shove me through the front door, and I heard yelling. I immediately recognized it as Ponyboy's. He started running towards me, but Bob threw me inside and locked the door. I was scared now. There was banging on the door. Then more voices. More banging.
Bob just laughed and pulled out his switchblade again. I gulped.
But then the door suddenly collapsed. The gang was standing there. I knew all of them had to kick it, because this is a door to a Soc house. They are made well.
Ponyboy ran up to me and threw his arms around me. He tried to calm me down and Johnny was uniting me.
"It's okay, I'm here."
The rest of them, Darry, Soda, Steve, Dally, and Two-Bit were beating the Socs.
Two-Bit was the one who got Bob. I swear, he beat him so bad that it looks like he could have died. Two looked relentless, and I hardly ever saw him that angry.
Then I finally woke up from that horrible dream.

Ponyboy's POV
I'm really starting to worry about Maddy. She's becoming more and more jumpy and nervous about things and I don't know why. We must have really left a mark on her life. She really must need us. I can understand that. She's had tough problems to deal with before she met us, and she seemed so worry-free. Now, it seems like she's turning into another wreck, and I hate to see her like that.
I wonder how the other girls are doing with Dally, Johnny, Two-Bit, and Soda. I can't believe that Dally and Two-Bit haven't shoplifted or got sent to the cooler yet. But then again, they probably won't want to make a bad reputation to the girls and their families. Not to mention that serious things could happen if they get exposed to the public too much.
It's been a while since Maddy came out of her room. I hope she's doing okay.
I walked up to the door and knocked a couple times. She didn't answer, and I got a little worried. I opened the door quietly and saw that she was sleeping.
God, she was so beautiful. I'm the luckiest guy alive, I swear.
I watched her for a while, it would probably seem creepy, but I couldn't take my eyes off of her.
She slept so peacefully for the longest time but she started shifting in her sleep, and I knew she wasn't having the best dream.
I brushed the hair out of her face. She stirred a little bit and started shaking.
She mumbled a low "Ponyboy" and "help"
Aw. Poor thing.
I laid down next to her and wrapped my arms around her.
"It's okay, I'm here."
I don't know if she heard me or not, but she nestled her head against my chest. It was unbelievably cute.
After that she stopped thrashing around. It was nice to know I stopped the nightmare she was having.

Maddy's POV
I opened my eyes and looked around. Ponyboy was next to me, to my surprise.
"Ponyboy" I whispered.
"Yes." He replied quietly.
"What are you doing here?"
"You were havin a nightmare, and you were askin for me, so I came to comfort you."
"Oh. Thank you."
"Your welcome."
I got up and checked the time. It was 4:00. The gang will be coming soon.
"C'mon, Pony, they'll be coming soon, and I have to tell them what happened." I nudged him.
"Okay." He got up and took my hand.
We walked out, and to my surprise, the gang was already there. All their attention turned to me as I sat down.
"I'm assuming you didn't tell them?" I said. They nodded.
"Well, we have a problem." I sighed.
"Do I have to beat some ass?" Two-Bit snickered.
"No... Well yes. But it's worse than that."
"Spit it out." Darry said.
"Okay, so today we were with Ellie. I was thinking about going back to Tulsa again."
"Why, no one wants to go back to Soc town!" Dally mentioned
"Yeah, and I like it much better here, we don't get hurt." Johnny added.
"I have a horse now!" Soda exclaimed.
"Calm down, it was a suggestion. To show some people what it's like. If we can go back again, we can surely get back out. Anyway. Because we trust her, I told her how we actually ended up in Tulsa, and she wants to go see it." I looked over at Ellie and she nodded.
"What's the bad part already?" Steve said, bringing Ellie a piece of chocolate cake and sharing it with her.
"We were... Overheard."
"What? By who?" Ponyboy exclaimed.
"Stina's Ex." I sighed.
Soda scowled and held Stina close to him.
"And he's going to tell the public. The secret is going to get out."
"Great!" Darry paced back and forth. "Next thing ya know, were gonna be put into quarantine!"
"At least someone knows" I shook my head.
"He ruins everything." Soda grimaced.
"Believe me, we know."
The news interrupted all of us.
"Book characters coming to life, sounds like something that can only happen in books right?"
A chill went through my spine at those words and the anchor's shitty humor.
Everyone froze and turned their attention to the tv.
"A local 8th grader, Danny, is here to tell the story. He tells us that girls that disappeared and allegedly went inside the book came back out and are here today with some of the characters. Isn't that right, Danny?"
Okay, so first Chris, and now Danny, is planning to ruin our lives? I never liked the kid anyway.
"Indeed." The little Smartass replied.
"They had came into school with the boys from S.E. Hinton's "The Outsiders" and told us that they had been in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a month and came back."
"Did they say how they got there, to prove this isn't a hoax?"
"They had said they did not know how they got there and back, so no, we don't exactly know if that is true. We don't have any evidence."
"Well, you heard it here folks. There could be book characters roaming the Earth today. But without further evidence, this story is not yet proven true. We will attempt to contact the girls and will update you with any further information."
I tried not to let my emotions get the best of me. Everyone else looked either scared shitless or about ready to beat someone up. There was no in between.
Me, I didn't know what to think. But then it hit me.
"What are we gonna do now?" Ponyboy asked.
"I know." I replied.
Everyone turned their heads to me.
"C'mon with me. I need to write an email."
