When I think about happiness, I picture the sun. I picture the sun glowing bright in a pale blue sky. When I think about sadness, I picture myself, crouched in a dark corner. No sun. Just darkness.
Depression hurts you know. It feels like a thousand knifes digging into my body. I wasn't always like this. I wasn't always so depressed. At one point in my life, I was actually quite happy. I had a family, friends, a life. But then it all changed.
My family and I went on a road trip to Denali. We were going to visit our family friends who moved there recently. Of course I didn't want to go, because nothing is more fun then listening to adults blabber on and on about things that I don't care about. So they dropped me off at a mall nearby. I didn't buy much.
I texted my parents to pick me up. No answer. I called. No answer. I called our family friends and they said that they hadn't come yet. A wave of shock and anxiety ran through me. What I didn't know is that when I said goodbye to my mom as I ran into the mall was the last time I was going to see her...
