I was still driving around in my car with no known destination in mind. I looked down at my phone in my lap to look at time and it read 12:20am. Almost a hour of driving and still nothing , nurse Ally hadn't called about Kody yet so I was just stuck wondering what really was going on and why it was taking so long to get information on him. At this point , I didn't know what to think but I knew I had to stay strong for Kody and make sure he was gone be okay.
As I kept driving along 110th and Parker , I couldn't help but see this short girl who looked about 4 feet. She was wearing a tight light gray body suit with black sneakers and her hair was going everywhere. It was a mess if you asked me and she looked real familiar from behind to , not that I was looking at her ass and shit like that but I recognized her and I couldn't tell where from so I stopped the car and got out to talk to her for a minute.
" Excuse me , don't I know you lil shawty ? " I said gently grabbing her arm so she could stop walking.
" Aye I know you hear me talking to you. " I said a little forcefully as I spoke up again.
After I said that , she stopped suddenly with her back still facing me and finally spoke up.
" What do you want Priest ? " She said turning to look at me.
Shocked to the fact that she knew my name , my eyes suddenly got wide like they wanted to pop out of my head.
" Uh how do you know my - " I said pausing as I walked up closer to her.
As I got closer , I finally realized who the girl was that I was talking to , it was Kody's girl Kryssi.
She was struggling trying to walk , she looked confused and discombobulated and not to mention she completely smelled of nothing but alcohol and weed. I wanted to help her out so I walked her to my car and put her in the backseat then I turned around to take her back to the hospital to get help.
I made a sudden u turn back to the hospital and I couldn't help but to think about how and why she ended up walking around like this late at night. I was pretty certain it all had something to do with that argument I heard like 2 days ago between them. I knew it was bad but I didn't think it was gone end up like this where both Kody and Kryssi would end up hurt and needed help.
10 minutes later , I pulled up at the hospital and called for someone to help Kryssi out of the car. I gave the nurses everything I knew about her and how I found her then they rolled her back inside on a stretcher. I stayed outside a little longer to get my head straight till I felt my phone ring in my pants pocket , I looked at my phone to see who it was and it was Ally , the nurse that looked after Kody , maybe she finally had some news on him. I picked up the phone anxious to find about his well-being.
" Uh hello , this is ally , the nurse that's looking after Kody um I have some information for you about him. " She said with hesitation in her voice.
" Yeah wasssgood wit him , is he good , is he okay ? " I rambled out nervously.
" Well I have some good news and some bad news for you. " She said with hesitation still laced in her voice.
" Uh well I guess I can handle the bad news first. " I said putting my hand on top of my head.
" Okay well Kody was placed in a medically induced coma due to a light stroke during his first few days in the hospital but after some overnight observation and medication , he improved way faster than what we excepted so he should be out of the coma and awake later tonight .. which is the good news but we also want to observe him some more once he's fully awake and alert so we can see how he does then. That's all the information I have on him for you right now. " She said calmly.
I let out a calm breath of relief as I heard the good news about Kody.
" Thank you so much for that Ally I really do appreciate it. " I said slightly pacing back and forth.
" You're welcome Priest , I'll be sure to let you know when he's awake and when you can go in and see him. " She said slightly blushing.
" Okay thank you so much again , I appreciate ya help for sure. I said more cheerful this time.
" Well talk to you later. " She said.
" Okay. " I said hanging up the phone.
I hung up my phone and put it back in my pocket as I turned around to go back in the hospital but I saw this car pull up by the door and waited to see who it was. I waited until I saw someone get out of the car and they did but I could see was long black hair and a bright yellow outfit so I knew it was a girl.
I saw the girl go to the back of the car and take out a big suitcase and two other bags then I saw other girl get out on the driver side and give the other girl a hug and then the girl that was in the driver side got back in the car and left.
The girl from the passenger side started walking towards the front entrance of the hospital with the big suitcase and bags in tow. As she got closer and closer , I started to recognize more and more of who she was. As she finally made it to the entrance , I knew right then who she was once she looked up at me with sad , droopy eyes like she was crying.
She put her bags on the ground and left her suitcase where it was and she just looked at me like all she wanted to do was just hug me and never let go. I finally said her name to break the ice.
" F - Faith , W - what are you doing here ? " I said suddenly stuttering.
" I - I mean I did tell you I was coming right ? " She said softly.
" Oh shit , damn I forgot , I been having a lot of shit on my mind ever since - , I said pausing as faith put her finger up to my lips.
" Priest , I understand you don't have to tell me anything trust me. " She said taking her finger away from my lips.
" I appreciate you for keeping ya word and coming out here to be with me and help me through this for real. " I said gently grabbing her hand to kiss it.
" You know I always got you , whatever you need , whenever you need it I'm here always. " She said gently touching my face as I closed my eyes to embrace in her touch.
" Thank you. " I said as I grabbed her suitcase and bags to take to my car and put them in the truck.

As Priest and I walked back into the hospital , we were both quiet until we sat down in the lobby area downstairs waiting on Ally to come back so he could know when to see Kody. I shyly grabbed his hand and held it rubbing my fingers against his knuckles. I knew that he knew that he was stressing about Kody but just me being here with him right at this moment , I knew it made things a whole lot better for him.
I laid my head on his shoulder as I briefly closed my eyes , as soon I closed them he leaned in and kissed my forehead as he softly spoke to me.
" Thank you for being here with me beanie. "
My eyes shot open as I heard him say the nickname he gave me ever since our 8th or 9th grade year of high school. I laughed softly so he wouldn't know I was blushing and I pulled my head up to look at him in surprise.
" Wait ... I know you just did not call me my nickname from high school ? " I said as I laughed surprisingly.
" I'm shocked you still remember dat' name I gave you. " I lightly chuckled.
" Of course , how could I forget it. You called me that every single chance you got. "
" I couldn't help myself. " He said as he leaned against me and laughed.
" Yeah whatever. I knew you were just doing it on purpose though. "
" Maybe a little bit but I also gave you that name cause it fit you and it was cute. " He said as he tapped my nose.
" Do you still remember the story of how you gave me that nickname right ? " I asked blushing.
" Of course I do. You wanna hear it ? "
" Yes please. " I said cheerfully ready to hear him tell me the story of my nickname again.
" Aight so , we were both in like the 2nd grade and the whole class was outside at recess and I saw you sitting in the sandbox with some lil girl friends of yours and y'all were laughing and giggling. I just sat and watched you for like 5 to 10 minutes maybe then I decided to walk over to the sandbox and talk to you so I got up from the swing and walked over to the sandbox. You was laughing and you had this beautiful smile and smooth, silky , black , long hair. You had a big ass bag of jelly beans just sitting in ya lap so I went over and tapped you on ya shoulder and asked you if I could have a few and at first you was like " ew no these are mines " you was holding dat' damn bag like I was gone take you from you wit a mean ass look on ya face so I turned to walk away but you stopped me and gave me some jelly beans and I started cheesing and laughing like hell cause I was so happy you gave some jelly beans and da' name just ended up sticking with you from there. " He said as he kissed my forehead.
" You know , I love it when you tell that story , gets to me every time. "
" It never fails , I know. "
" So how's ya mom and everybody doing ? I asked with concern.
" Everybody's been doing good , I jus been chilling and working , my mom's been - . "
" Been what .. what's wrong Priest ? "
" She ain't really been doing all dat well since the last time you been to New York to visit honestly. " He said with sadness filled in voice.
" What's been going on wit her ? "
" Every since my dad died and me asking questions about him and plus her drinking problem on top of all that."
" Wow , I didn't know. " I said sounding shook up and shocked.
" Of course you didn't , how could you have known ? But it's okay though. "
" If you eventually wanna go back to New York and see her and visit for a little while we can do that. " I suggested.
" Maybe I - I don't know yet , I jus wanna make Kody's gone be aight first then we can go from there."
" Whatever you wanna do priest. "
Hours had passed , which didn't even feel like that long. The nurse had came in the lobby area to tell us that we could go up and see Kody if we were ready. Priest asked me to come up with him for moral support.
" Uh Fay , you mind coming up wit me to see Kody? "
" Of course , sure I can. " I said grabbing his hand.
We both walked down the long , cold hall to Kody's hospital room. We looked around for the room number , #110. I found it and softly knocked on the door.
" You ready to do this ? " I asked him still holding his hand.
He let out a nervous breathe before answering. "Yeah , I'm ready. "
" Alright , lets go. " I said turning the door knob to walk in the room.
As I opened the door to Kody's room , I could instantly feel Priest's hand grip tighten around mine , which I didn't mind because I knew at that moment he was scared to see his friend with a tube down his throat and basically still fighting for his life even though he was gonna be okay. He sat in the chair by Kody's bedside and rested his hand on Kody's shoulder with his eyes full of sadness and grief.
" I can leave and give you two some privacy if you need me to. " I told him as I put my hand on his shoulder.
He looked up at me. " Uh yeah if you don't mind please. "
" Not at all , I'll be right outside the door if you need me okay ? "
" Okay. " He said as I walked out of the room and stood by the door.
Hey guys ... I apologize for being M.I.A and not updating but I've been having writer's block unfortunately and a whole bunch of other things going on.
I want to update and post as soon as I make it to chapter 20 that's my goal for this weekend and as soon as I make it .. I'll be sure to post all the chapters I haven't published yet.
