Marguerite's parents have always called her their late bloomer ("... and in the garden of life, Maggie, the late blooms are especially beautiful!") and that is all anyone has ever seen her as ━ unremarkable, untalented, and underwhelming Marguerite Blumenthal; the world's latest bloomer. So imagine her surprise when the Harry James Potter (the Boy Who Lived, the Chosen One, Wizard Jesus Reborn, etc.) approaches Marguerite and says: "Er, so, I really need a date to the Yule Ball and I heard you haven't got anyone to go with yet ..."
It might be the absolute worst proposition that she's ever heard, but Marguerite has always had a soft spot for lost causes (birds with broken wings, bees drowning in swimming pools, mice caught in traps) so what else was she supposed to do ━ not say yes?
