hi! i thought it'd be kinda fun to show you guys how my graphics have changed since i first began designing.
i first discovered wattpad in may 2018 and i started making graphics in august 2018. my designs were all made with canva at this point in time. my covers were... yikes.
⋯
not long later, i discovered the wonderful world of pinterest, and i was able to find better photos. i also learned how to erase text so it appeared as though the text was behind the image, and i still use that "technique" relentlessly to this day.
⋯
in fall 2018, i made my very first acc theme. before, my book covers were all over the place. it isn't the most cohesive, but i still really like this theme. i also began doing hand lettering around this time and joined a graphics community. this was also when i started getting more requests.
and i learned how to make gifs. not great ones though haha
⋯
january/february 2019. this is my second theme. i also branched out a lot and tried some new things. i learned how to do the white doodle effect (idk what to call it but it's in the last pic)
and... i tried making a manip for the first time. i had absolutely no idea what i was doing. i've since unpublished the chapter containing these covers because they are atrocious. i can't look at them without cringing. honestly, what was i thinking? 😂
⋯
in spring 2019, i was doing a ton of cover requests. most of my designs ended up being pretty simple. one of my favorites from this time period is the waffle cone. i also put up a new theme bc i got bored again haha
⋯
in june 2019, i closed my cover shop because i was kind of getting stuck in a rut. these are some of the last requests i made (why am i making this sound so final lol)
⋯
in summer 2019, i decided to join some graphics contests around this time, which was a really good decision. i was able to expand my skills a lot from trying different challenges. i also kida figured out how to make better manips (thank god). and i made another theme too.
most of my themes have been pretty simple (like this one), so i'm looking to trying more creative theme ideas later on.
⋯
it's fall 2019 now. these are my most recent graphics, which are all part of one series (i have yet to watermark these so please don't steal them!) i've been working with typography more lately. i'm looking to try making vector graphics and better manips in the future; i'm also taking more inspiration from actual book covers so i can change up my style.
⋯
it's been a little over a year since i first began making graphics, and i'm pretty happy with my progress. i obviously have a lot to learn, but i'm really glad i'm here. sooo yeah, that's all.
