OCTOBER 10, 1995|
Bogota, Colombia
5:27am

Rain. It was dark.

I remember. I remember.

The clear liquid passing
through my brown-fingertips,
straighten hair becoming
damp for not a care in
the world.

I remember. I remember.

Sirens fell behind my small frame,
the array of fire gusted the tight—
but spacious sleek narrow rode.

Several screams hitched through
the Forest grounds causing my frail
frame to willow and whimper. See,
I didn't know what was going on and
who were the people reaching their
hands out the vehicle, begging for help. For God himself. They'd looked
familiar. Too familiar.

Shadows under the car peeked.

"Get him out the car!"

"Nooo."

The woman that held the same
eyes as me cried louder.

"Lena I'll be fine, look at—"

A man. An evil unknown man.

Pushed the dark skinned man on
the muddy ground with a sharp kick,
took me by surprise. Following a
double kick to the head shaking and pushing the body upward; the evil
man pressed his gigantic boot over
the lower back brutally. Finally
dragged him around the car with
a struggle, since the hostage man
didn't wanna corporate.

I was frozen.

"Beat him." One deep voice
crashed the forest.

"No don't hurt him. No."

"Shut up!" A loud smack echoed.
The woman head whipped backwards
in the back seat. She was tied up, hair matted with crimson colors that fell beyond her full lips.

"We'll give you anything. Please!"

"I said shut the fuck up."
Unraveling a box like object that
he held in a duffel bag, fixing it, he seemed focused. Somehow my ears perked as the guy told the other one
that it was dangerous, but the outraged one didn't care to hear. The guys meaty fingers covered in blood clicked a
way in a timely manner. Planting
the ticker toy on the steel
car.

"Tick tick. Tick. Tick tock."
The Evil doer sung in upbeat
rhythm, clapping his hands,
synchronizing the direct ticks
in symphony. Hiding behind the
Tree was my many suits when I
was only Three. Papa said I was
good at hiding. He thought I
was the best hider.

"Zöe!" A quick screech sounded
before a large explosive erupted
in front of my eyes, I could react
to the sudden name. My body
collided against muddy grass.

Ouch that hurt. Hopefully,
the bad guys didn't see me.

"Leeennnaaa! N-Nooo!"
A person cried over the powerful
thunder.

"Where is your daughter?"

Gulping, my eyes bulged not understanding the commotion.
Is he looking for me. Is that
my Papa. I can hardly tell.

"You leave her out of th—" a hard
crack alerted my ears. I couldn't see
what was going on behind the car.
Since they'd placed the scared
man on the other side.

"Run!" A familiar voice spoke. "Zöe!"

BOOM

Orange and Red flames gathered
the Black car. My eyes burned along
with my smoky lungs and it didn't do
me any justice that I only had a thin raincoat on—backing up farther, squishy noises gathered with movements. I look up over on my left, heaving chest and
all catching a person with nothing but Black attire. The individual was tall, slender, no face. A simple mask.

"Come here. Come here."

"Don't you touch her!" Scooting
away from the stranger, the voice
grew silent after one fist to their cheek.
It was my Papa. No. He was getting
punch in the face, so that means
Mama was in the car.

"I said come here." The demon guy reached for my now dirty White
adidas. He tried dragging me, but
I kicked him with my other foot.

"You little bitch." He yell as my
foot hit his finger over and
over again.

Scurrying off the muddy ground,
taking all my strength to run wasn't completely hard. After I heard a
distant pow, it didn't take me no
time to find my way around the
tall Trees. Papa always taught me
the Forest routes, down to the Spanish markings on the tree barks. Where
the main rural grounds of everything
was, it was like he was giving me
his own personal Map.

A Map to a secret Safeway.

He knew this day would come.

My tiny Eight year old feet, pattered
against the bent twigs. Not looking
back, not breaking a sweat.

"We're loosing her, catch that
little bitch!"

"I'm trying Jefe (Boss)." A out of
breath guy shivered. The rain
chasing his energy.

POW

A sudden bullet caught the tree
ahead of me. Not freaking out, my
little body gathered around vines
that hung along a massive hill ahead. Pushing my body forcefully out there,
a low screech escape plump
lips.

"Did you get her!"

"No, I think she jumped over, the ledge."

"You think or you know?"

I finally landed safely on a Yellow
vacant car. Hopping off the hood,
and quickly hiding inside it without making sure the creaks of the
old rusty car wouldn't hear.

"I think the cops are coming, where, where did she go?" The evil man
shouted over the loud sirens, "We
need to find her before they do."
Making sure my body is hidden
in the back seat on the carpet
floor. Dark skin glisten with rain,
shivering from the cold and
fear.

I had to stay quiet. Dream
of a happy place.

"Who does?"

"The cops. You fuckin idiot."

Scoffing. He voiced his opinion
on the situation.

"I told you Rico, that you should
not have went after them."

"They owed Carlos money, it
was a—"

"Sssh. You hear that?"

My fearful eyes grew, body
stop shaking. I had to get
it together.

"I don't hear any damn thing."

"I do."

"I do not."

A Helicopter captured through the
semi-dark position. Catching a hint
of light, my foot accidentally hit the
dirty abandoned carpet material.

"You want me say it in Spanish
for you? Escuchè algo Idiota."

"Quiet. Wait, I do hear something."

Brown haunted eyes glanced through
the thick wet window glass. Shoving myself further along the seatings,
the man backed his hands away.
He didn't acknowledge my
small frame.

"—It's the sirens, we have to go now."
I couldn't see their face, just a mask, suddenly one pulled their facade
down. Revealing a disorientated
face, his hair was brown, skin
was medium and crooked teeth
were almost Black. Oral Hygiene
wasn't in his daily routine for
sure. Yuck.

I caught a good glimpse of
one of my Parents killers.

Well at least one.

That night. Well Morning?
Was a nightmare.
