I wake up so freaking tired that morning and it's all thanks to Jade. She kept on moving around and hitting me, I think I even got some bruises from her sleep abuse. I try waking her up but she doesn't. I decide to get up and just shower leaving her there on my bed. I do my whole routine; lather, rinse, dry off and change. By the time I get out of the shower Jade had finally awoken. She rubs her eyes and plops down face first into the pillow and groans. "I don't want to go to school." She mumbles into the pillow.
I glance into my full length mirror and scan my outfit. I have white loose knit sweater on and some dark blue jeans. I place my black fedora onto my straighten hair and twirl around realizing how cute I look like today.
"Only a weirdo like you can be this happy on a morning." Jade says to me as she walks by and into the bathroom and slams the door shut. Well then miss grumpy pants. Meanwhile Jade is showering I go down the stairs to see what I am going to have for breakfast. My mum is slaving away making some delicious pancakes.
"Morning mum." I greet her.
"Morning Perrie. Want some pancakes?" She places a small stack onto a plate and I sit down and eat. I pour a shit load amount of syrup on top and beginning slicing up the pancakes. "Do you know if Jade would care for some breakfast." My mum asks and I just shrug my shoulders.
"She's still getting ready." I say with a mouthful of pancakes.
"Mm okay then." I get up and grab a cup from the cupboards and pour myself a refreshing glass of milk. "What are girls planning to do for Halloween?" My mum aks.
"You know the same old same old. Going trick or treating and then coming home to watch scary movies all night." I say in between bites of my pancakes.
"You guys are going to be okay being home alone for Halloween? Dad is going to be working late, I'm going to spend the night with my friends and Jonnie is sleeping over his friend's house."
"Of course mum it won't be the first time we've been alone." I roll my eyes.
"I know but it's Halloween and there's going to be a full moon. The lunatics use this time to come out and play."
"Mum if your trying to scare me it's not going to work." I huff.
"No of course not. I'm just trying to tell you to be careful." She says to me.
"Then why not say 'be careful' than trying to scare me."
"Because it wouldn't be as fun." She laughs.
"See mum you were trying to scare me."
"Morning." We both glance up to see Jade walking into the kitchen. She yawns and sits down in the empty chair next to mine.
"Here honey looks like you need it." My mum places a nice warm cup of coffee. Jade looks like she hasn't sleep all night. There are deep dark circles underneath her eyes and just looks plain tired.
"Thanks." She quietly says. She blows on it and takes slow sips.
"You look like crap." I tell her.
"Gee thanks. Yeah because that's what I want to hear in the morning." She rolls her eyes and says ever so sarcastically.
"Perrie language." My mum scolds me.
"Sorry." I softly mumble.
"Can we just go to school?' Jade shoots up from the table and leaves the kitchen. My mum has a confused look on her face and so do I. I mean Jade has never been the one to be rude or just walk away like that. I shrug my shoulders and go up to my room and get my book bag. I realize I have to return that board game. I grab a hold of it and a spine tingling cold sensation washes over me. I stuff it into my book bag and walk downstairs.
"Bye mum." I say as I walk to the front door.
"Bye Perrie. Have fun at school." Yeah cause that always happens. School is everything but fun. I walk down to the drive way and climb into Jade's car.
"Took you long enough." She says.
"What is with you?" I buckle my seat belt and look at her. She let's out a sigh and just stares at the dashboard.
"I'm sorry. I don't know. I just have this eery feeling that something bad is going to happen. I kept having these dreams last night and I know it was something bad but I just can't remember what they were." She lets out out another sigh. That reminds me of what she said in her sleep that night. I meant to ask her about it but the way I see her now, maybe I shouldn't. She did say she doesn't remember and there's no use in alarming her more.
"I'm sure it's nothing. They were just stupid dreams." I rub her shoulder and try to console her.
She nods her head. "Yeah your right."
"Hey do you think you can drive me to the costume store after school? I want to return that box." I get the box out of my book bag and place it onto the floor. I don't want to be carrying it around all day at school, so I might as well just leave it in her car.
Jade nods her head once more. "Yeah sure."

We arrive at school earlier than when we usually get here. There's a few students roaming about and Jade and I just decide to sit on the front steps of the school waiting for Jesy and Liegh to arrive. A few minutes go by and I see Jesy's white Camry pull onto the school's parking lot. Jesy quickly finds a spot and parks her car. Soon enough both Jesy and Liegh come up to us and greet us. I guess everybody but me deiced on wearing their hair curly today.
"Jade you look like your half asleep." Leigh says and sips her cup of Starbucks coffee that she has. "Here." She hand her coffee cup to Jade.
"Thanks." We sit up from the steps and we all walk to chorus class.
"What's wrong with Jade?" Jesy whispers to me. I just shrug my shoulders. I mean Jade is just tired. There's nothing actually wrong with her. We sit down in our usual seats while Jesy, Leigh and I just talk about random topics. Jade stays sits quietly listening to our conversation. Maybe her dreams got to her more than I thought. They were just dreams I had one, it was scary but it didn't really bother me. I admit it did scare me but it was just a dream.
The bell and class starts. We do the usual; vocal exercises, Mrs. Gertrude yelling at me for something, and practicing our song and so on. As the day drags on I notice Jade being ever so quite at lunch time. She jusy picks at her food and doesn't say a word. The girls notice too and they are worried. They keep asking her whats wrong but she just replies with 'I'm just tired.'
School finishes soon and Jade drives me to costume shop. The drive is quite and Jade doesn't mutter a word to me.
"Are you alright?" I finally ask her after ten minutes of silence.
"Yeah why?" Her voice is low and I barely heard what she said.
"You just seem so I don't know." I pause to think what I'm about to say. "Just so weird. I mean this isn't like you." I fiddle with my fingers as I speak.
"I'm fine. I'm fine." She says. We reach the costume shop and she parks the car right up front. We are greeted by the same mechanical skeleton that cackles and eyes light up. Jade goes off into the store to browse I guess but I go up straight to the cash register. There's a nice looking guy with light brown hair and has the most gorgeous blue eyes ever.
"Hi, how can I help you." He smiles widely and takes me out of my starring trance. I feel a little blush creeping onto my face.
"Uh hi." I look over his name tag. "Louis. Um I came to return this." I slide the box onto the counter. Louis knits his eyebrows in confusion.
"Uh I'm sorry but we don't sell that here. I've never seen anything like that in the store before." Is he serious?
"I came here yesterday. I bought it yesterday. You can't possibly tell me that your store doesn't have this here."
"What do you mean you came yesterday? The store was closed yesterday. Nobody was here." What the hell is this kid talking about?
"The store was open. This old lady made me buy it because she thought it was broken and it's not so I'm here to return it." I slide the box closer to him.
"I'm sorry but the store was closed yesterday and we don't sell that here." He pushes it towards me. "I don't know if your trying to rip me off but no I can't take this. Plus no old lady works here."
"I'm not tryng to rip you off. I just don't want it." I say a little too loud. He slightly flinches and arches and eyebrow at me.
"I'm sorry but I can't help you." He says. I groan and I just take the box with me. I spot Jade at the front entrance and I pull her out of the store. He must be insane. The store was open yesterday and this old lady was here.
"Weren't you going to return that?" Jade asks.
"Yeah but he wouldn't take it back." I sigh. Jade drives me home and she leaves. I get the box and toss it into the trash bin outside. Whatever I still got rid of it.
