CAT

'cat? why are you up already, it's saturday.' says james yawning, walking into the kitchen and putting the kettle on.

'i've got some work to do that's all.' i say looking up from my computer screen at him.

'you rarely have work to do on your days off, you've been acting all strange since you came back from liverpool yesterday. did something happen?'

'no nothing happened.'

'i know you're lying, come on you know you can tell me anything, i'm your boyfriend.' he says sitting down opposite me and taking my hand in his.

'well something happened yesterday and i can't stop thinking about it. i think it might have affected my job.'

'wait what? what happened?'

'you know i was meeting some liverpool players right for interviews. i met alex oxlade chamberlain jordan henderson and virgil van dijk, alex and jordan were really chills and nice whereas virgil, he was how do i put this? a prick. he was being all nice throughout the interview, i did notice him looking at me up and down a lot but i didn't think anything of it you know me, always professional. but then when it finished he was just being quite sexist? so i called him out for it, not in a bitchy way but in the most professional way i could be but i think i might have been a bit too you know, bitchy.

'babes, you can never be too bitchy when it comes to sexism. you've worked so extremely hard in an industry that is mainly white males and you're a woman who's also half hispanic, you've created so many opportunities at your work place due to your state of mind and your voice. and please don't apologise or ever think you're in the wrong about situations like this. he was being a sexist dickhead and you just stood up for yourself, you have every right too.' he says looking at me squeezing my hand slightly.

'if people don't talk back to sexists racists homophobes or whatever, they're going to keep doing it. don't worry about losing your job, you did the right thing and if you hadn't said anything it would have been against your values. if i ever see mister van dijk, i will tell him to meet me outside.'

'you know he's really tall right?' i say laughing.

'i'm tall as well?'

'yeah but he's like a giant.'

'well sorry we can't all be six foot four can we?'

'you're such an idiot you know that right?'

'but i'm your idiot.'

'that was so cringe oh my god.'

-

after i had finished my work and started to relax more, james and i decided to go out for some breakfast at one of our favourite cafés down the street.

james and i have been together for a year and a half and we moved in together just over three months ago. we met at one of our mutual friend's party because she works as a nurse alongside him. when we first met, we got on like two peas in a pod. i was twenty three when we first met and he was twenty eight and we both had similar childhoods. my dad is from england but my mum is from argentina and his mum is from nigeria but his dad from england.

my parents want us to get married but i'm not ready for that kind of commitment. i couldn't imagine doing that then getting married and having kids, it all seems to be the perfect happy family lifestyle. i want to live my life to the fullest before any of that crap.

do i love james? of course i do. do i think he's the one i want to spend the rest of my life with? not so much.

VIRGIL

'can i ask you a question?' i ask alex as i'm sat next to him on the bus.

'yeah sure. what is it?'

'you know that really hot interviewer we had yesterday. do you remember her name? and who she worked with?

'don't really think i can call her hot because otherwise perrie will kill me but yes she's pretty and i remember her name. why? oh don't tell me you're gonna try and find her.' he says shaking his head.

'i just want to find one of her social media accounts to message her.'

'no offence virgil but you're a bit of a dick when it comes to women.'

'just tell me alex.' i say sighing.

'fine her name was catalina and she works for the bbc. i can't believe you didn't even before to remember her name and who she worked with. do you ever listen to the media staff when they don't talk you?'

i ignore what alex says and open up google and type in "catalina bbc" and just to my luck numerous articles come up. at the bottom of the articles, the name "catalina jones" is shown so i quickly go into instagram and type in her name. i go on a couple accounts to eventually find hers, which is on private to send her a message.

virgilvandijk: hey sweet cheeks remember me? i just wanted to apologise about yesterday, i know i acted like a dick and it wasn't right. you deserved to be treated with nothing but respect and i deeply am sorry.

hopefully she'll buy my lame apology and message me back. people call me a "man whore" or a "fuckboy" but i just call myself a man who has a way with the ladies.

'you should just leave her alone mate.' says alex looking over at my phone while shaking his head.

'mind your business.' i say locking my phone and putting it in my pocket.

'i just don't understand you. can't you just be normal and invite her for a drink or for a meal and just generally have a nice time? why do you always have to end up sleeping with them?'

'what do you think i should do? settle down, have a relationship then get married and have kids.'

'now you're just being over dramatic.'

'what's going on lads?' says joe from behind, popping his head through the seats.

'virgil's at it again.' says alex rolling his eyes.

'who is it this time?'

'this interviewer from the bbc.'

'the bbc? wouldn't she be like really old?'

'no, she was quite young.'

'she was definitely early twenties, she was wearing a red suit with a white shirt tucked in, it looked so professional but so sexy at the same time.' i say turning around slightly to face joe.

'no offence virgil, but it's actually exhausting just listening to you speak.' says joe sighing.

'i'm just glad we've arrived so this conversation can finish.' says alex quickly grabbing his bag and leaving the bus.

shit ending but anyways, it might seem a little weird about vvd's characterisation but it'll be better as it goes on

can't believe it's flopping alright
