My heart has been forgotten,
Much like a broken toy.
My heart has experienced too much pain,
And not nearly enough joy.
My heart's been overlooked,
rejected, and thrown away.
But I try to hide the stitches,
And pretend that it's okay.
My heart keeps on beating,
Much to my surprise.
My heart's favorite companion,
is my pair of crying eyes.
You may turn up your nose,
And judge by what you see,
But inside still beats a loving heart,
This heart, inside of me.
