Peter's POV
This was probably one of the worst days of my life, first of all, I was late for ALL my classes and got detention, Flash punched me in the face and I got in trouble for it and when my detention was finally over I went on patrol. I couldn't even focus and I let all the robbers and muggers getaway and I ran out of web fluid so I was walking to the Stark Tower while it was pouring with rain.
I looked down at my phone expecting to see a message from Tony or May but I had nothing, I frowned but didn't think much of it.
I opened the door to Tony's lab and I saw another kid sitting there, he looked to be around my age but he made my spider-sense buzz.
"Uh, hey Mr Stark," I said uncertainly.
"How many times have I told you to knock Peter!" he snapped.
I was taken aback, he's never told me to knock before and when I did knock once he told me not to. I frowned but brushed it off, maybe he was having a bad day as well.
"Sorry, um who's this?" I asked.
"This is my NEW intern Vincent, if you don't mind could you please leave and shut the door behind you," Tony replied coldly.
"Uh, yeah sure, sorry," I mumbled.
I closed the door and walked back upstairs confused, should I go? Tony was obviously busy. I turned to leave when my spider-sense buzzed, I dodged to the side as Clint came tumbling out of the vents, I rolled my eyes.
"Hey Peter!" he said cheerfully.
"Hey Clint," I replied glumly.
"What's up? Usually, you'd be rambling your head off,"
"Nothing, I just had a bad day," I mumbled.
"Has it got to do with Stark's snobby new intern Vincent? Don't worry, I was shocked as well and I hate him," he agreed.
"Well, I don't know much about Vincent so I can't say anything about him but Mr Stark was acting kind of weird," I sighed.
"Anyway, where are you going?"
"He doesn't need me here right now and it's getting kind of late,"
"Okay? Well stop by tomorrow, if Tony's still weird than you can go to the lab with Bruce or hang out with me," he offered.
"Yeah, thanks, I'll see you tomorrow,"
That night I couldn't concentrate, it was midnight so maybe that intern guy would be gone by now. I called Tony but it went straight to voicemail, I sighed and climbed into the covers and stared at the ceiling. What was going on?
The next day I went to the tower and hesitated at Tony's lab, I gently knocked and pushed open the door, my heart dropped when I saw the Vincent guy sitting next to Tony.
"H-Hey Mr Stark," I said.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I uh just w-wanted to see if you n-need any help," I offered.
"I'm fine, don't bother me again," he snapped, "If you do then I'll blast you,"
I opened my mouth to argue but sighed and closed the door a little harder then I had originally meant to. The handle snapped off and I sighed fighting back tears, there was a heavy feeling in my chest that I got when Uncle Ben and my parents died. I took a deep breath and went down to Bruce's lab, I knocked on the door and slowly pushed it open.
"Hey, Pete!" Bruce greeted with a smile.
"Hey Bruce, I was wondering if you need any help? I mean it's fine if you don't, I-I just wanted to know. Actually, my question was stupid, I'll go I'm sorry for bothering you," I rambled.
I went to close the door but he held it open and frowned at me.
"First of all, you don't need to knock, second of all you never bother me at all and third of all I love your company," he said.
"Sorry, I just thought you'd be to busy or whatever," I mumbled.
He opened the door wider and I went inside, his lab was amazing and Bruce explained what he was working on and what his current problem was. We were brainstorming ideas and formulas on pieces of paper and I was staring into space while my brain was working.
"Peter?" Bruce said.
"Hm?"
"Why are you down here? I mean, I love having you down here but I thought you'd be with Tony," he continued.
"Nah, he has a new intern or something like that, he told me not to bother him again or he'll blast me with his repulsors or some shit," I replied distractedly.
"What! He said that!" Bruce exclaimed.
"It's fine, he's really stressed so I don't blame him," I lied.
"He has been acting weird ever since that Vincent kid showed up, I think you should talk to him one day if things don't improve," Bruce suggested.
"Yeah, I'm waiting for two weeks and then I'm going to see if things improve or not," I explained.
Bruce nodded and we continued working for ages and we solved multiple problems and Bruce was a lot closer to solving his problem.
"Thanks, Peter, if see you tomorrow,"
"Yep! See ya!" I replied.
I left the tower in a better mood than yesterday but I still had that empty feeling inside me and Mr Stark's words kept echoing around in my head.
2 weeks later
Things had gotten a lot worse, Tony would yell at anyone and everyone he saw even the other Avengers. I was standing outside his lab ready to confront him, I knew it wasn't going to go well but I was prepared.
I opened the door without knocking and slammed it shut behind me catching his attention, he glared at me, he stood up and walked towards me slowly.
"I thought I told you not to bother me ever again!" he shouted.
"Well when you become a complete ass hole for no reason then someone has to find out the reason behind it," I replied with all my confidence.
I saw Vincent sitting at the bench and it looked like he was smiling which made me furious.
"Are you going to tell me why you've become an ass hole or is it just a natural thing?" I snapped.
He did something I never expected, even my spider-sense didn't warn me. His fist came in contact with my face where my eye was, I stumbled back a brought up a hand to my eye and pressed it gently and hissed, luckily I could still see and I wasn't bleeding.
"If you don't leave right now then I will blast you," he threatened.
"Go ahead!" I shouted.
He grabbed his Iron Man gauntlet and aimed it at me, he fired and I did a few flips back and dodged them. Was he really firing at me? I was expecting him not to, I thought he wouldn't have the guts. Suddenly, my hand slipped and I fell, I felt a burning pain hit my shoulder and I crashed into the ground. I blinked a few times and that's when I saw the burning patch on my shoulder, I was shocked and when I looked up at Tony he was smirking.
I stood up and I wanted nothing more than to punch him in the face or throw something at him but I resisted and slammed the door behind me shattered it into a million pieces. I grabbed my bag and ignored all the Avengers as I jumped out of the window, I swung through the city and climbed into my bedroom window. I changed into my suit and swung around New York with a wave of new anger and fury, Flash was right, Tony Stark wouldn't want to be around someone like me, he was only doing it because he felt sorry for me.
I was hopeless to think that Tony Stark was my father figure, he might've been for a second but like always, all my father figures leave...
