Vampires and werewolves have always been a common threat amongst the human race. Unfortunately for them, the humans evolved and bred rapidly, causing them to over populate and spread their species all over the world, destroying nature's beauty.
After the humans killed most of these magical creatures, the rare few that survived went into hiding. As their species spent thousands of years reproducing and keeping themselves from going extinct, they developed the ability to blend in with the humans and live peacefully among them.
Unfortunately, they had to disguise themselves, control their powers, and the worst of all was it was forbidden to fall in love with a human. The creatures who broke any of these rules, especially the third one, were sentenced to death in order to protect their kind.
Every spring, they held the biggest challenge of the year. All creatures who turn 16 are to face a series of challenges depending of their species and rank in order to prove their worthiness of being in their society. Those who fail these challenges, are either banished from their territory or sentenced to death.
These challenges are held on an island that no human has ever been to before. The island was split into four classes. The first class is the magic class. This class is the smartest of all classes. They are fairies, witches, wizards, etc.
The second class is the predator class. They are zombies, vampires, aliens, ect. They are the most dangerous class since they can manipulate humans and blend into them better than any other creature.
The third class is the changing class. They are the strongest class. They have the ability to shift between human and animal. Most only have one theriotype or kintype. Those who have two are honored with the alpha rank. It is rare for anyone to have more than two. Those who do are legendary and considered Gods or Goddesses.
The last class is the beast class. This class is the bravest class. They are ogres, giants, trolls, ect. This class is made up of all creatures who are far from human. They are very brave, but not very smart. All four classes are special in their own unique ways.
The mystical blue ocean surrounded each ship with an endless view of water. Many of the young onboard the ships were confused, bored, and even seasick. No one knew how much longer it would be before the large wooden vessels would stop rocking back and forth, dancing with the oceans small ripples.
A stern voice echoed throughout the thick humid air, loud enough for the neighboring ships to hear. The man to whom the voice belonged to stood on the peak of the main mast where everyone could see him. "Straight up ahead, there is a portal that leads to the island where all of you young creatures will be competing! The portal is strong and only allows creatures like us inside! Any and all humans who try to enter through this portal will be disintegrated immediately!"
He pauses for a second as he looks around at all the horrified faces. He clears his throat calmly before continuing. "Do not stick any body parts outside of the ships walls while going through the portal! Although it can not kill us 'non humans', it can severely damage your young fragile bodies!"
All the young creatures look around the ocean bewildered as they did not see anything but water for miles. Suddenly, without any warning, a strong force surrounded all the ships and living organisms onboard. The force of the portal was enough to make some of the creatures feel sick or even fall unconscious.
It wasn't long before all ships were successfully through the portal. on the other side, creatures were gasping in disbelief of the new world around them. The water was clear and you could see millions of colorful fish and plants underneath the oceans surface. The sky was like looking faintly out into the galaxy. Every colour swirled together beautifully like the perfect painting.
You could see small planets, hundred of miles away, from where the ships sat. Two bright suns embraced each other close as they sat far out in the galaxy, overlooking the creatures. You could describe the suns as sister love. The giant sun held her little sister close as they both spun together in the sky.
Even though it was day time, stars shone brightly from up above. Giant birds flew over the ships, glowing as bright as the suns as they passed. Small flames ignited on the birds backs, tail feathers, and the tips of their wings. A snake sat lifelessly within the tight grasp of one of the phoenix's sharp talons. The snake suddenly opened it's beady eyes. It looked horrified as they gracefully flew passed the ships and disappeared in the distance.
Suddenly the waters turned black like a shadow of a large whale was flying through the sky. A giant fin emerged from the water, in between two of the ships. As every creature looked closer in the water, they could see sharp teeth smiling at them and large menacing eyes staring straight into their souls. The giant shark, known as the megalodon, quickly swam back beneath the oceans surface, out of sight.
The island got closer into view as the ships sailed swiftly through the oceans thick, magical waters. The wind circled the ships, greeting the new creatures with joy. One of the ships stood out from the others. Onboard one of the many third class ships sat a lone wolf. He perched quietly on the main mast, hiding from the other kids.
"Maybe you should join them." A soft masculine voice said from above the little boy. He looks up to see a young man, probably in his early twenties. He seemed to be one of the crewmembers. He wore a uniform with the colours of the third class. His blonde hair spiked out everywhere like a lions mane. Around his neck is a tag carved from an emerald. Etched in the center of the emerald is a large print of a feral cat to symbolize his other half.
The young boy quickly crawls away from the stranger, startled by his presence. The man chuckled as the kid curled up nervously on the beam connected to the main mast. The man introduces himself, hoping to come off as less scary to the little boy. "I'm Jefferson. I'm a panthera leo." He says with a warm smile.
"H-hello... I'm Karmaa. I'm a- Canus lupus.." The boy says shyly, introducing himself in a quiet voice. "Canus lupus..?" The man repeats quietly. "Are you related to the arctic wolf?" He asks, looking at Karmaa's beautiful white hair. Karmaa nods quickly, not wanting to speak. Jefferson questions Karmaas silent answers.
Before their conversation could continue, the ship arrived at the island. Other crewmembers were getting out the board and gently placing it down at the bottom of the harbor for the kids to get off. Karmaa watched as all sorts of different third class creatures exited in a 'line' onto the harbor. He looked up at Jefferson who was busy helping prepare the ship for a long rest. Jefferson looked back at Karmaa and nudged him to go with the other kids. Karmaa sighed and climbed down, awkwardly disembarking the ship.
At the end of the harbor, soldiers stood intimidating, getting everyone in a single file line. Karmaa's eyes lit up as he watched the soldiers. He didn't want to join the army but was still fascinated by anything military related. The soldiers had stern looks as some kids were fooling around. Karmaa gulped, getting nervous. He didn't want to aggravate the soldiers so he kept his head down, being as polite as possible as he passed. One of them smiled at him. He quickly smiled back, not wanting to be rude.
Before entering the island, everyone had to go through strict security. Everyone always said it was just an easy little test to make sure you aren't human, and at the end of the test you get a cheap tag so everyone knows who you are. It's said that if you pass the games, you are rewarded with your very own real tag carved from the magic crystal. All creatures above 16 who live in this world have to wear one.
Karmaa always thought some of the ways this society works is a little controlling and unnecessary but maybe he's just too young to fully understand the meaning for these magic tools. His turn was coming up soon. He watched as other kids passed the entrance exam like it was nothing. Once it was his turn, he stepped onto the platform in front of the examiner.
"Name." The woman said in a loud stern voice. She didn't seem angry, just sounded like she's been doing this for a long time. "Karmaa Benjamin Grey." He responded in the most confident voice he could. She nodded, writing down the information. She circled him, writing down his height, weight, race, hair and eye colour, ect. "You may start," She said, still looking at her paper.
Karmaa took a deep breath and calmly let his body change little by little. There were four forms you had to shift into during this exam. Your human form, your half human form where you have your animal features, your anthro form where you're almost fully animal but stand like a human, and lastly your full animal form.
Karmaa was too scared to transform in front of anyone. Even so, he slowly let his body change from one form to the next. His transformation was much different from the other kids. After the exam, Karmaa was given a small black tag with a large paw print on it. The tag looked to be made from old wood. He slipped it over his head and let it rest around his neck; then he entered the island.
