We both were doing things behind each other's back that we shouldn't have done.
We didn't speak to each other anymore. Hours turned into days, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. We didn't officially break it off, we just stopped talking. Waiting for the other to make the first move. Waiting for the other to make it up.
Waiting for the other to apologise.
We held secrets from each other.
Things we didn't tell each other. It grew and grew. Trust between us began to fade, while the secrets began to build. We were both too stubborn to set our ego aside for our relationship. The others began to get suspicious, they asked us what it was between us.
Were we both single again?
We didn't know how to answer.
'No,' we both said. 'It's complicated right now.' It wasn't. We both just had a big ego and didn't want to be the "weak" one. If we just apologised, talked or just... did something, we wouldn't have ended up like this.
