Emmet squeezed his eyes closed
"THIS IS THE END!" he screamed as he braced for impact, but instead he heard faint rock music and opened his eyes to see a blue astronaut with a jetpack on. "Who is that?" Emmet stared in amazement. The astronaut punched through the giant glassteroid then zoomed out of Emmet's sight. "Where did he go?" Emmet looked around
"Hey" the astronaut suddenly stood up beside him. The astronaut startled Emmet so much that he screamed and jumped out of his seat into his stuff in the back. "Mind if I save your life?" The man said, Emmet wasn't one to assume peoples gender but he was pretty sure the astronaut was a dude.
"Not at all!" Emmet said.
"Rad!" The man replied and then proceed to speed through space, avoiding the glassteroids and even doing a few tricks! Emmet heard the rock music get louder.
'He's so cool!' Emmet thought to himself as he saw the guy nodding his head to the music, so Emmet decided to copy him. They started to head towards a weird portal, Emmet started screaming again as they got closer and closer, he saw visions of weird beings, like that of what he saw when he was tossed into the magic portal. They delved deeper and deeper into the portal when, poof, the appeared on the other side safely.
"And that's how you break on through to the other side" he turned around to face Emmet "of the stairgate"
"Who are you?" Emmet asked curiously. The man's helmet automatically came off, folding into his suit. "Woah!" Emmet gawked in amazement.
"The names Rex, Rex dangervest! Galaxy defending, Archeologist, Cowboy, Raptor Trainer, who likes building furniture, busting heads, and having chiseled features previously hidden under baby fat!"
"Woah!" Emmet was amazed at this guy, HE WAS SO COOL, but then Emmet looked through the window behind him and screamed "ENEMY SHIP!" Pointing towards it
"That's a negative" Rex reassured Emmet "that bad boy is my ship! I built it myself out of spare pieces"
'oh my gosh!' Emmet thought to himself as his ship landed and was being lifted up by the platform it was on. 'this dude is awesome!'
"Let me show ya around!" Rex said, punching the table, the whole ship promptly fell apart.
"Hey, you broke my ship" Emmet said, a little bit offended
"Listen kid, you can build anything, but there ain't nothing you can't break!" Rex said, laughing afterwards. Emmet started laughing too.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha- I don't get it." He said with a deadpan face.
"How about a tour?" Rex said. Emmet agreed, they got to a big metal door. "Behold! The Rexcelsior!" Rex said as the doors opened to reveal a huge room full of velociraptors.
"WOAAH!" Emmet was amazed "are those, DINOSAURS?!!" Emmet asked excitedly. Some of the dinosaurs screeched but Emmet couldn't tell what they were saying. "Woah, cool!"
"Tell me, what's a scrap-about like you doing, trying to get through the stairgate?" Rex asked
"Aliens from the systar system kidnapped my friends, I'm going to get them back!" Emmet said proudly.
"You don't want to go anywhere near the systar system, trust me" Rex scoffed "it's ruled by an alien Queen and she'll try to brainwash your friends so she can use them in a matrimonial ceremony to bring forth-"
"Ourmomageddon?" Emmet finished Rex's sentence
"Bingo!" Rex turned around
You've been to the systar system? You can help me!" Emmet said with glee
"Forget it kid! That place is too terrible, but I don't like to talk about my backstory so don't even ask!" Rex said
"Oh oka-"
"THERE I WAS!" Rex jumped forward, about to tell Emmet his backstory. "On a galactic mission! It ended up being more than I bargained for! I was blasted out of my ship and I landed in the desolate plains of the dusty planet un-dar of the dry-ar system. The winds were ferocious.the isolation intense. I waited for my friends." Rex's tone was now calmer, sadder "It seemed to last forever. And that's when I learned. There is no one I could trust but me." Emmet couldn't help but feel bad for Rex.
"I'm so sorry Rex.." He said sincerely.
"Don't be, my time alone was an awakening!" I learned how the universe really works!" Rex said as him and Emmet walked down the hallway full of velociraptors lifting weights
"Yeah, I know how you feel.." Emmet sincerely said as they walked into his, what could only be described as, his game room
"Ha! You couldn't possibly know how it feels!" Rex stated, chalking up his pool queue
"No, I do. You can't ever go back to the person you used to be, even though it was so much simpler, you've got to find your own way, but you just don't know how.." Rex was about to take his shot when he turned his head.
"Hold up a second, you have been there." Rex's eyes filled up with realisation, he turned to face Emmet.
"Yeah" Emmet turned around aswell.
"What's your last name Emmet?" Rex asked
"Brickowski?" Emmet answered, all be it a little confused.
"No way.." Rex said as he handed his queue to the velociraptor behind him "the visionary, double decker couch building hero, who stood up to lord business, and had the guts to take on the man upstairs! That Emmet Brickowski?!" Rex asked jumping up and down excitedly, shaking Emmet a little.
"Yeah.."
"Dude! Big fan!" Rex said as they started walking again.
"Wait, you are a fan of me?!" Emmet asked shocked that someone as cool and awesome as Rex could be a fan of him!
"Yeah! Your the reason I started wearing vests! Do you.. like mine?" Rex asked surprisingly shyly
"Yes I do!" Emmet replied happily.
Rex laughed happily, he liked his vest! One of the velociraptors screeched something again, but neither of them could understand it.
"And I started wearing chaps, which are essentially leg-vests!" Rex proudly showed Emmet.
"You are so much more cool and grown up than me.." Emmet then gasped of realisation "You could teach me! Rex, help me rescue my friends, stop ourmomageddon, and teach me to be like you, someone Lucy would be proud of, and I'll be the brother that you never had!" Emmet said as Rex raised an eyebrow "unless you do have a brother, I-I don't really know you that well.." there where a few seconds of silence when Rex broke it.
"Alright, you listen here kid! You go soft, you're playing their game, you're gonna have to grow up, and grow up fast!" Rex said, inching closer to Emmet "are you ready to do that?" Rex intimatingly said, making Emmet have to lean backwards
"Yes I am!" Emmet said as he leaned back upright
"I can't hear you!"
"Really? I was speaking at normal volume"
"Sorry man, I'm just a little hard of hearing from listening to my mixtape super loud with no regard for my future hearing because I live in the now! Rap-tors! Recordinate!"
"R-really?" Emmet happily asked
"Set a course for the systar system!"
"Rex, I promise, you won't regret it."
"Kid, I invented the phrase 'no regrets' " Rex said placing a hand on his shoulder "I do have one regret of not trademarking it."
"Oh" Emmet said as Rex walked over to the controls
"Space cannons! Hyper Light Speed Combuster!" These things turned on as he said their names, it was as if they were in a movie..
Awesome. "Super Rad Ejector Button!" Emmet was about to sit down on a chair, when the button suddenly popped out from the seat.
"Woah! Isn't there a better place to put that?!"
"Raptors, Power up!" Rex said, completely ignoring Emmet's Statement "crank the warp drive up to eleven, TIMES TWO!" one of the raptors screeched and the engines turned on
"Yeah!" Emmet said putting his hands up.
"To the systar system!" Rex had his hand on Emmet's shoulder again. He then pushed a lever forward and the ship speeded forward. Rex and Emmet left the control room back down a floor to the living area. Emmet and Rex were sitting on a couch, Emmet was thinking about Lucy and the others. He missed them. Lucy was his special best friend. Rex noticed. "Hey kid, what's wrong?"
"Oh! Uh nothing.. can I go and explore the ship?"
"Yeah sure! Just don't touch anything that looks important"
"Important?"
"Yeah, like wires and stuff like that"
"Oh okay!" Emmet walked off to go explore the ship.
