Tony's POV
'Shut up!' I yelled at the thought in my head.
'I didn't even say anything, Seriously Tony?' Steve replied.
'Oh My! Steve I didn't tell you that it's just that, it was just me talking to my mind. I didn't tell you to shut up.' I looked into his eyes.
I first saw him giving me a very unconvincing and confused look but then eventually his eyes became soft and he looked carefully at me, you know just like he used to do before, before all of this didn't happen and he didn't misunderstand me or I wasn't being the sarcastic ass I am.
'It's fine Tony. Anyway I should probably head back to my room.' Steve replied looking away from me.
I didn't want him to leave and I know like it was late but I even know that Steve would never sleep this early and he was probably leaving so that he could avoid me but I wanted him to stay. Oh! He even called me Tony so this is my cue!
'Steve!' I said.
'Yeah?' He asked as he stopped.
'Stay? Umm well! I just had to discuss few things with you.' I said.
Damn! Who will say that I am the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist as here I was thinking twice before talking to this tall, blonde, idiot, charming, beautiful man infront of me.
*Okay Tony Stop!*
I can talk to him, it's just Steve.
'About?' he asked.
This man gets on my nerve sometimes, like what on earth are these one word replies? He is damn lucky that I love him.
'About Peter and before you start with your one word questions again can you just sit with me for sometime or am I asking for too much because I know that you are not sleepy and you are completely free now.' I said in one breathe.
'Ofcourse Tony! I always have time for Peter.' Steve said.
It made me really happy that he has time for Peter but a bit upset too that he is free for everyone but me.
'Okay so I have the most amazing and crazy plan.' I said being quite excited.
'What is it?' he asked maintaining the straight face.
'Well basically we have to travel to the timeline where we can save him which will eventually bring him back. Basically in short you can call it time travelling.' I said.
'And how exactly can you do that?' he asked being confused.
'It will include simple time travelling but we will need Strange to help us.' I said.
'Well, then let's just contact him and then we can start off with your plan because it sounds very effective and convincing.' he replied.
'I already did! I mean Nat did! So probably he will be here by tomorrow.' I replied smiling.
'Oh! Fine then.' he said and was about to leave.
'Steve! There is something else even I want to talk to you about.' I said.
I saw him tense up a bit. He tried his best to avoid eye contact but where else could he even look when me! The Charming Tony Stark was right infront of him.
'What do you want to talk about?' He stammered.
'Well it is about Barnes and Nat.' I said.
'What about them? Well, they don't even talk much.' he said.
'You think so? I saw them having a really cosy conversation here right before I kind of interrupted them.' I replied.
'Must be something about work or important, Tony! How does it even matter? Even if they talk, that is just fine.' Steve said.
'Yeah I know but I was just a bit curious.' I said chuckling.
'I should leave now, Tony.' Steve replied.
'Umm one more thing!' I tried my best to stop him.
Why is this man so stubborn? I was trying my best to have a healthy and nice conversation which we couldn't have in all this while but he just won't follow the script. I guess this is why my dad liked him. Stubborn as a small child.
'Whatelse Tony?' He asked.
I couldn't understand whether it was annoyance or disturbance written all over his face but who even cares? I decided I will have a conversation with him and I would, afterall I had to prove the point that Tony Stark is much more stubborn than Steve Rogers.
'You know what? I have a strong feeling that Bruce has a crush on Thor!' I literally whispered.
'Oh! And your point is?' He asked.
'Come on Capsicle! Don't you ship them?' I asked really annoyed.
'Tony, not with the short forms! Plus I know Bruce has a crush on Thor!' He said with a 'I know it' expression.
'How?' I asked curious.
'Nat told me, basically she had a bet with me so yeah!' he replied smiling.
'Oh and you know..' before I could say anything further he said.
'Tony! I probably should head back now.' He cut me off to say this.
'Okay.' I said being really upset.
I tried my best to hold a conversation, the mood was being cool and casual and I even saw him smiling. We were even having a normal conversation like we used to have before all these complications happened. Damn! He was right there infront of me yet he was so far from me. I was talking to him and yet I miss him so much. Everything was just there and seemed normal yet I knew everything was so, so different.
I was about to leave the room and return to my lab when I stopped by his voice again.
'Umm, Tony! Don't go back to the lab tonight, try and get some sleep as it will be a really long day tomorrow.' He said and looked the other way and left.
He didn't wait for my reply but still I made my mind to not go to the lab even though I knew I wouldn't sleep even a bit.
Steve's POV
I don't know what Tony was really upto but yes I could understand that he was trying his best to have a conversation with me, probably he felt too guilty about what happened between us or too embarrassed about what Banner said in the lab. I tried my best to avoid him and I tried most of the times to leave the room and go to my room but everytime I tried he stopped me.
I was fine with everything he was saying but when he said he wanted to talk to me about something, I could literally hear my heart beating extremely fast. I wasn't really expecting him to say something about his feelings or maybe I was but how could I even think that when I know he has no such feelings for me.
And now tomorrow Strange will be here, till now I could still see him and talk to him even if I was trying my best to ignore him but from tomorrow I would get very little time with him as he would get too busy with his work and I know it is really important for Peter but I feel I just wanted sometime with him just so that I could tell my heart that he means a lot to me too.
I didn't even realise that I fell asleep while thinking about Tony.
Next Morning
I woke up a bit late but still before anyone else in the tower.I went for my run and then the workout and then eventually I headed towards the kitchen and decided to prepare breakfast for my lazy teammates. Tony must be still working in his lab and obviously he didn't listen to me.
I was so engrossed in my own thoughts that I didn't realise someone was there at the sitting area.
'Nat!? Is that you?' I yelled from the kitchen.
No reply came but instead I could hear footsteps approaching me.
'Oh Goodness Gracious atleast someone is up! Each one here is a sleepy head I swear.' The voice spoke up.
'Hello Doctor Strange! It is really so good to have you here.' I said.
'Captain! It's so nice to be back here again, and how is everything here?' Doctor Strange replied.
'Everything is just as usual but just dull without Peter.' I replied sadly.
'Captain! No worries! He will be here soon!' He replied.
We were having this weirdly awkward conversation when I saw Tony entering the kitchen with his eyes half closed. It made me smile at the sight as I understood that he did listen to me yesterday and slept. Plus how does he manage to look so gorgeous right early in the morning! Damn! This man is Perfection.
'Tony! Doctor Strange is here!' I said calmly.
'He is?' He asked and turned and opened his eyes and looked at the man standing infront of me.
The next thing I saw was Tony hugging Strange. At that moment I couldn't understand what was more strange, his name or this sight. As far as I remember they never really got along but here the scenario seemed quite different. Well I even knew that this hug meant nothing more than a friendly way of welcoming him but still my heart ached a bit looking at them hugging.
The last time we hugged, it was a sudden and more forced one and mostly because we were too upset and Tony wasn't really smiling like he is smiling now.
Either they hugged for too long or I was in my thought process for too long.
'You should have made a visit before Strange! You know if you were here we would have figured stuff much more before.' Tony said.
Oh! So Strange was all he needed! I too was right infront of him and with him for a long time but he still couldn't think that I could help or be of some use.
'Hey! Tony! You know that I couldn't with all the work I have on my shoulder after what happened to the Ancient one.' Strange replied.
'You should have been here but yeah I completely understand and it doesn't matter as you are here with me now.' Tony replied to Strange.
I blankly was staring at their faces, specially at Tony's face I suppose. I really don't know why I was feeling like this because I know this was just a friendly conversation between Tony and Strange still this knot in my stomach went on increasing. I was literally hating the scene infront of me. I just realised then that seeing Tony with someone else was affecting me much more badly than I ever imagined. This feeling is influencing me so much and is working on my head. I thought that it would be the perfect time to leave the kitchen as I would probably go unnoticed but I was too late.
'Ah! The beer refilling magician! I missed you so much!' Thor half yelled.
'Good to see you God of Thunder' Strange replied.
'Thank you for being so fast.' Nat said as she smiled at Strange.
'Am not called the time traveller just like that' Strange replied laughing.
'Welcome back!' Clint said shaking Strange's hand.
'Thank You Barton!' Strange shaked his hand back.
I felt really out of time now. It wasn't like I wasn't happy about Strange being here, I was, really very happy but then I never saw everyone so happy around me normally. It felt as if he carried some kind of weird power with him that made everyone happy. And the weirdest part? Tony couldn't stop smiling and I couldn't even manage to make my lips curve.
'Everything okay there Steve?' Nat asked.
'Huh?' I asked blankly looking at her.
'I asked if everything was fine?' She asked again.
'Oh! Yeah everything is fine. Umm Nat I prepared breakfast, just tell everyone that I just need to go for my run, I skipped it today as I was late.' I said.
'You sure you're fine?' Nat asked.
'Yeah I am, Thanks Nat.' I said smiling and left the kitchen.
I already went for a run in the morning but I think I was too bothered to stay there. And about Tony? He didn't even notice that I left the kitchen.
I was about to leave the tower just when I saw someone waiting for me at the main entrance.
