Sam drove us to beach insisting that I take off my hoody. I had worn it as I looked a state and someone I knew was there. He pulled up, I grabbed my bag and we walked to the beach. The beach wasn't crowded as we were at school but there were a few people there.
"Hey Rhi & Sam, Sam mind if I speak to you?" Nate asked as he walked over to us smiling.
"Back in a bit. Go find somewhere to sit" Sam smiled as him and Nate walked off together. I strolled along the beach and pulled off my flip-flops. The sand felt nice on my feet, it felt nice to get out again. Ash was sat on the lifeguard stand, watching people intently while drinking a bottle of water. I tried to speed walk past him but he noticed me and called me over.
"Hi" I said turning around to see him. I tried to avert my eyes as he looked hot in his red lifeguard trunks, a white v neck t-shirt and wearing his black aviators. His black hair was messy and he had had a side fringe cut in. He towered above me, wow, lots happens in 3 days!
"Hey, you feel okay?" He didn't smile. Oh no, this isn't good.
"I'm getting better. I thought it would be good to get some fresh air. You've had your hair cut" I tried to make small talk and hopefully Sam would be back soon.
"Yeahh, Lot happens in 3 days. You contagious anymore?" Ash asked raising his eyebrows. He's mad!
"Nope" I replied popping the 'p'
"So, what was up?" Ash asked seriously but his eyes were showing laughter. He didn't believe I was ill. He'd known me since I was 4. I couldn't lie to him and get away with it.
"Oh, you know...just...tonsillitis" I coughed when I said tonsillitis at the end. Ash smirked and looked at my outfit.
"So, tonsillitis is contagious now? Brook said you had the flu" Ash looked into my eyes and I tried not to laugh.
"As a matter of fact this kind was...Sam nearly caught it. Brook hardly knows what time it is, so I doubt she would know what was wrong with me!" Ash laughed then started to pull of his top.
"Whoaaa, what are you doing?" I asked shocked as his six pack and toned figure came into view.
"It's hot, is there a rule where I can't take my top off?" Ash smirked while putting his top on the lifeguard stand.
"No but there's little kids here. You don't want to be the one to disturb them for life, do you Ash?" Ash laughed and then looked at me.
"Oh, you love it. Admit you do Rhi" He said grabbing his water and drinking. He offered me some but I refused pouting.
I then realise I hated Ash, he had done this to me. He was the reason I cried for 4 nights straight and ate my body weight in ice cream. I hated him. Why was I laughing with him then? I couldn't hate him for long, I liked him.
Sam pulled me out of my trance when he came sprinting towards us. I notice that he had changed into his lifeguard trunks. Joy - note the sarcasm.
"Sorry, Nate asked me to cover but only for half an hour. I'll hang out with you when he comes back. I think I've seen Brook around here somewhere" Sam told me while Ash smirked behind me. Stupid smirk!
"Okay, see you after" I said to Sam and ignored Ash. Ash seemed upset that I didn't say goodbye to him but he deserved it.
Sure enough Brook was lay on a beach towel on the golden sand, soaking up the sun. She was wearing a pink bikini and white ray bans. I walked over to where she was lay, placed my beach towel on the sand and lay next to her. She finally realised I was next to her.
"God Brook, I could have been an axe murderer" I joked while she looked as me as though I was an alien.
"Yes and there are many axe murderers wandering the beach, aren't there?" She sarcastically spoke, pulling her sunglasses off. We laughed, talked and she asked if I was alright.
"How you holding up?" Brook asked me squeezing my hand.
"I'm okay. Thanks to your brother I have had the worst 3 days of my life" I sighed, turning around to see Ash watching me. He winked at me then turned back to my brother and they started an in depth conversation.
"He likes you, I hear him talking about you on the phone. He may be a stupid player but he's my brother and I know when he likes' someone" Brook told me while pulling her sunglasses back on.
"He had his chance Brook. He didn't take it though, I'm over him" I smiled. I had just said I was over Ash, but I knew it wasn't true. Deep down somewhere I would never get over Ash.
