I shivered some but then I realized that I was backed up against the wall. His face was close but not as close for our noses to touch, his eyes were boring into mine with such an intensity that I got lost in those beautiful depths.
"Are you sure about that?"
Wait, could this really be happening? Is this Greg that is standing in front of me even real? Did I already melt into a gooey puddle?
"I know that you like Greg bunny."
I scoffed at the words rolling my eyes. Yeah right. What could Greg possibly see in me?
But anything could happen. Expect the unexpected.

...Present
I woke up with a start. I rubbed my eyes, stretched my arms, and yawned trying to rid the grogginess feeling. What time was it? Cracking opening my eyes, shifting my position on the floor I looked around the room and was met with silence.
Muffling another yawn with an elbow I stared up at the ceiling thinking of nothing and everything at the same time. And now that my brain was somewhat functioning, why was I on the floor? My brows furrowed in thought. Did something happen...
"Is there anything you want to talk about that's on your mind?"
Oh, riiight. How could I forget something like that? What was hetrying to do? I groaned while chewing my top lip. Maybe, just maybe...
"Ah you're finally up," Greg peeked his head in from the doorway. I shifted my gaze over to the door, but it was now empty. Guess that was my cue to get up and get ready for another 'eventful' day. Pushing himself up to his feet, scratching his neck and stomach while heading to the restroom to relieve himself. A quick shower and the process of brushing his teeth in a change of clothes in under twenty minutes or so and he was ready.
Breakfast would be nice, and his stomach agreed with that statement in mind. "French toast with bananas or scrambled eggs and bacon...," Cameron opened the fridge rummaging for the ingredients to get started. Placing them on the counter and grabbing a bowl from one of the cupboards and a whisk, I prepared everything and sometime later everything was finished, and plates were placed on the table. There was French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sliced fruits.
"Greg, breakfast is ready," I hollered out. I began fixing his plate and placed it in front of him as he just entered the kitchen and sat down. I gathered food onto my plate, drizzling syrup on my toast and began eating.
Looking up after there was no movement from the opposite side of the table,Greg was just sitting there, staring. Beginning to open my mouth to ask whatwas wrong, my eyes widen just a bit at the sight of his cheek. It looked a bitswollen and there was a light discolouration that I hadn't noticed before.Standing up, walking around to the other side to where Greg was sitting, Iinspected his cheek and a faint bruise was forming.
Swallowing the lump in my throat, I moved closer and raised a finger to his face, "What happened to your face?" But before I could touch the spot there, he moved away a little, turning his head.
"It's not a big deal to fuss over something like this," Greg lightly rubbed is cheek but ended up just covering the swollen area with his hand.
Annoyed, I went to the freezer to grab an ice pack covering it with a rag, going back to Greg I slapped his hand away from his face and placed it softly over his sensitive flesh. "Idiot! How could I not make a fuss over this," it annoyed me that Greg would even think that I would just look the other way without asking what had happened, which reminds me, I need an explanation right this second.
I glared at the side of his head until he starts talking. I put some pressure on his cheek and he winced trying to move even further away but gave up and huffed.
He grabbed the ice pack from my hand, but I didn't move an inch, waiting for him to speak. Rolling his eyes, "It was from yesterday from that dickwad that punched me." Greg was thumbing the table with his other hand in irritation.
I stood there for a few seconds recalling what I missed from the day before until realization struck me. The reason why I couldn't really remember that specific detail was because I was in the middle of hyperventilating to notice what was happening.
"Fudge...," I sighed as I sat down in a chair next to me. Covering my face with a hand I exhaled again frustrated because now the guilt was taking over it somehow, I felt like it was my fault for not doing anything to help Greg. Stupid stupid stupid, I knew I should've done something to prevent this from happening. Stupid stupid stupid.
I felt another hand on top of mine that was on the table, I looked up frommy one eye that wasn't covered to see Greg shifting closer in his seat to benext to me. "Cam this is NOT your fault, don't you dare blame yourself forthis," Greg stared deeply into my eyes while giving my hand a light squeeze totry and comfort me.
I couldn't stop my lip from trembling, "But I- "
"Cameron listen and listen well, this is NOT your fault, that asshole loves to pick on those who seem weak and you nor I could have prevented this from happening, don't blame yourself, don't feel guilty because I got mildly hurt..."
"You're right I couldn't have prevented it from happening and it's all because I'm weak and hopeless..."
I didn't say that and don't put words in my mouth," he gave my hand another squeeze before letting go taking the warmth with him. "We should probably get going before we run late." Greg scooted out of his seat, threw the rag in the sink and placed the ice pack in the freezer before leaving the kitchen.
I looked at the hand that Greg held and curled it into a fist. Taking a breath, I covered the leftovers and placed them in the fridge. Leaving the kitchen as well Greg was waiting by the door holding my bag out for me to take and we left for school.

"How's your cheek?" I couldn't see it from my position in the passenger seat.
"I don't feel the throbbing anymore, so I think that it's getting better."
I sighed while nodding my head. The car ride was silent except for the lowhumming from the radio, I stared out the window letting my mind escape fromreality if only for a little while.
"Dude why so melancholy...stop your worrying already."
Mummering out a reply barely listening to what Greg was saying.
"I'm fiiine Cam trust me."
"Yes, I know you're fine Greg, but the question is, are you okay," snapping myself out of my daydream I didn't realize what I had said until it was too late. (But I don't think there's really anything wrong with the sentence, well unless it's interpreted in some other way...)
Silence heavily settling in the car after some time, looking over to myleft Greg's lips were twitching and then he bit his lip, but it looked like hewas going to burst at any moment now until the sounds of chuckling was heardthroughout the vehicle. Sitting there lost and confused I looked over again andwondered what was so funny to him. Backtracking of what was said I stillcouldn't figure out on what was so amusing.
"What's so damn funny," crossing my arms over my chest staring out the window again.
Coming down from his high, Greg wiped at his eye with a hand trying to regain his composure. A snicker here and there, "I know I have a nice physique and all Cam, but you didn't have to point it out so bluntly."
Still not understanding what he was talking about I did a gesture with my hand for him to continue. Point out? Physique?
Clearing his throat, "Okay I'll dumb it down since you can't comprehend of what was said."
My own lip started to twitch from the smile in Greg's voice and it irked me to no end.
"I know my body looks good and all and to answer your question, I am okay."
Squinting my eyes some, "I know my body looks good and all...," I was connecting the dots, "I know I have a nice physique...," finally understanding where he was going with this I crossed my fingers together and just sat there with a blank expression on my face.
"Get it now Cam?" In that same airy tone.
Would it be considered a crime if I stabbed this human beside me? Covering my mouth with a hand I just stared at the laughing buffoon. Greg glanced over and couldn't hold in the energy to not laugh again but miserably failed at the facial expression that Cameron had.
"Moron! I didn't mean it like that and you know it." A scowl on his lips as Cam faced towards the window yet again. (Sheesh, self-involved much)

"Bunny you okay, you look upset."
"Nope, I'm fi- I mean I'm good."
"You sure...?"
I sighed softly, "Greg was just being his annoying self again," Alex and I were exchanging our bags for books and supplies from our lockers and I'm not really sure where the baboon and Charlie went, said something about extra credit (shrug).
I felt an arm around my waist, "Well you can always hangout with Charlie and I," Alex squeezed my side.
Cringing slightly at the idea, "Umm...well...I kinda have things to do and..." I really don't want to be the third wheel and watch you two go at like animals in heat. (Scratches the back of head in embarrassment)
"Oh, that's right, you're too busy being Greg's little obedient puppy," Alex curled his hands in front of him close to his chest while his head moved side to side, sprouting a big stupid grin.
Why do I put up with these loons in the first place? I walked away heading to class. (Sigh) I'm nobody's obedient pet.

The hallway was crowded and loud as usual, walking was impossible since bodies were squished against each other, students standing in the middle of the damn way chatting and laughing it up. Oh, and what's worst, the students that takes their lovely time while they walk at such a slow pace that you just want to knock them aside and out of the way to get to where you need to go. Bumping shoulders and shuffling my way to my classes is a mission. Ugh.
Finally made it to class as the bell ringed with no time to spare. I trudged to my desk, plopped in the chair and dropped my books on top and rested my head beside them with a thud not really caring to catch some much-needed air. Why can't I just walk through walks or fly? Like is that too much to ask? (What can a guy do to get some non-existed powers around here?)
After a few more moments of catching my breath, I lifted my head and the teacher was lecturing us about something dealing with the evolution of the planet and the universe such. I drowned out the babble and wrote down the notes that were on the board.
I wonder if Greg is doing okay. Sighing into my hand, that big oaf can take care of himself. His hand doesn't need holding or anything. Hand holding. I curled my hand into a fist that was against my mouth and blew out air. Stop it Cam, just stop thinking and concentrate on the lesson. There really wasn't much left to write until the teacher told us to get into groups of two and answer the chapter questions and unfortunately, I was paired up with one of the Julia's.
Her name isn't really Julia though, I think it's Opal or something along those lines. She's one of the newest ones that joined the Jul Five. The most annoying and snobby bunch of populars in this school. But after some time working on the questions, she was surprisingly quiet and smart too. Now I'm kinda curious to know why she would want to join the Jul Five anyway, she could do so much better.
But that isn't any of my business to get involved in. Sneaking a sideglance at Opal, she looked really pretty, well if she didn't have on some muchmake-up I think that she would be beautiful. Brown-reddish wavy hair, shoulderlength. Skinny but not bony. Skin a bit tanned but not overly pale. I couldn'treally see her eyes since her bangs are shadowing them. Looking back at my workand scribbling down the answers, I think that maybe she could be something muchbetter, better than the Jul Five that is.
"Um, excuse me..."
Flipping through the text book to find the answer to one of the questions, I didn't know that I was being called upon until someone cleared their throat and I looked over to big hazel eyes.
"Do you know the answer to this question?" She pointed to one of the questions on our shared paper. Her voice was small and soft, unlike the piercing and over pitched wails that the Jul Five would have. For them to think that that was cute is just the most annoying thing ever. (Shudders)
I scratched my brow and looked it over, "Yeah, that's the question I'm on as well." I kept flipping through the book, stopped on a page, read over the paragraphs, and wrote down the answer.
"There you go." I gave a small smile and to my utter surprise, she gave a small one as well. It was a nice smile.
"Just one more and we're finished." She nodded and continued to read the chapter from her own book.
Curiosity got the better of me because I just wanted to know. I cleared mythroat a few times and slightly turned in my seat to face her a bit. Well heregoes nothing, "Hey... um, is your name Opal by any chance?"
She was writing the answer for the last question but then stopped when she heard what I had asked. I held my breath, waiting.
Licking her lips, she turned to me with this seriousness in her eyes, her mouth in a frown, and her hands curled in fists.
"Look, the name is J, just J gotit. Don't call me by that name, that was the old me."
She turned around, finished writing down the answer, got up and walked overto the teacher's desk, place the paper down, and walked out of class with herbelongings without so much as a backwards glance. Our teacher tried to stop herfrom exiting the room telling her to wait until the end of class but all he gotwas silence as the door closed shut.
Sitting there trying to process what had just happened in those few seconds left me a bit lost. One second, she gave a little smile and then the next I almost get chewed out by asking her her name. I really don't understand the female species at all.
Maybe I was wrong to think that maybe she'd be different from the rest.

Lunch was in session and this time I remembered to actually bring something to grub on than to eat whatever disgusting meal that the school is passing off as food.
"Smart for you to bring something to eat than the dump that they serve here, aye Cam." Greg and his usual smirk in place. His cheek healed up nicely if only a little bit.
We were headed towards the cafeteria to look for the others when, of course, suddenly I bumped into someone in the lightly packed hallway.
I rubbed my nose, "Sorry aboutthat, I didn't mean to..." And of course, out of all the students to bump into inthe hall, it was unfortunately one of the Jul Five. Oh, great and here we go in3...2...1...
"Ewww Jules, something bumped into you." One of the Jul Five said.
"Better scrubbed that spot off really hard before you become a loser!" Another one hollered with a snort here and there.
"Ugggh, watch where you'regoing you jerk." The one named Jules squealed.
"C'mon girls let's go before it spreads to us." The leader of the Jul Five named Julia commanded to the others in that piercing and high-pitched voice.
I rolled my eyes at their ignorance. I apologized, didn't I? And I'm not some kind of disease you knockoff Barbie dolls! Still rubbing my nose from the impact, I looked over and saw J by the lockers with her arms crossed over her chest, J stood there through the whole thing behind the other Jul Five not saying anything and then walked off with the rest.
Brief introductions of the Jul Five:
Julia: (What is there to say about this one...ah okay) You can say that she is the one who created the Jul Five. She's like the leader, the Queen B or J (Bitchy Julia [LOL]). Her name is really Julia. Average height. Long platinum blond hair. Blue eyes. She's all about that plastic life, there's always some part of her body that's changing (love going under the knife, eh). Has a different guy every month; aka Monthly Issue. (Hopefully she doesn't contract anything while swinging hips). Would her narcissism count for anything because everything has to be about her?
And moving on to the rest...
Jules: This one is the copycat of the group, whatever Julia does or says best believe that Jules will try to do or come close to it. She looks up to Julia and treats her like she's an idol. Her secret code name is Stalker Jules (well that's what it would be if it were up to me). Second in command (yeah, they have this ranking system or whatever). A bit taller than Julia. Growing her hair to be as long as Julia's. Same colour of platinum. Her eyes are a darker shade of blue. Real name is Margret. She likes sports. Also has this huge secret collection of pictures, all of Julia (creep alert).
ChJulee: Real name is Roxanne. Has a temper problem. With that temper she throws out slick remarks and whenever she laughs, there's always a snort here and there to fill in the gaps. Crazy does not even come close to describing her. Like can you imagine this little human picking fights with others twice her size. Loves to make grandpa jokes. Chocolate brown eyes. Placing in third within the Jul Five. More of a firecracker or a ticking bomb. Hair is black and has a bob style. Shortest one out of all the Jul Five. She loves to munch on soft ice. (She says she's not anorexic)
Jay: Fourth in rank. A few inches shorter than Julia. She has a pet iguana named Sweets. Changes the colour of her curly hair every four months, current colours of hair on one side is Persian Pink and the other side Charm Pink. Real name is Shannon. Totally hard core Fujoshi fan that sometimes has uncontrollable nosebleeds. Eye colour is bright green with an unusual ring of a golden yellow around her left iris. This female here is a loving bisexual. She may look young and has a cute face but underneath that exterior hides a monster of an unknown evil (she probably has a personality disorder but I'm leaning more to that she has an alter ego). Just know that if the beast is released, you'd wish it didn't.
Finally, onto the last of the Jul Five...
J: She is of somewhat at an average height, between Jay and ChJulee. The quietest and calmest of the bunch. Sometimes timid. Smart girl (not really smart enough to stay away from the Jul Five though). Attention seeker but at the same time an introvert. Enjoys reading books, preferably crime and biographies. A pyro to a moderate extent. Reddish brown wavy hair. Big hazel eyes that has a gleam of sparkles. Mainly the pushover, doorstep, but worst of all she has low self-esteem. Fifth and last in rank. Opal is her name (pretty nice, huh).
"Gosh Cam, I didn't know you were popular with the ladies." Greg snickered while heading for the doors to the lunchroom.
I ignored the comment and trailedbehind him to find our two friends in the crowded space of the cafeteria.
You would think that it would be easy to spot at least Alex in the surf of bodies that took up most of the space in the room, but yeah no, this won't be so easy peasy lemon freaking squeezy.
But then again, man did create the beautiful technology of the cell phone. Whipping out the object from my pocket, I dialled Alex's number and heard it ring.
"Yellow my little bunny." Alex sang into the receiver.
It sounded quiet on the other side of the line. "Um, hey Alex. Are you in the cafeteria by any chance because Greg and I are trying to find you guys." I had to shout out my response because the noise coming from the students was ridiculous.
There was no sound for some time until there was a small sound and then it got louder and then laughter erupted through the phone.
"Bunny are you crazy? There is no way in hell that we would ever be in that jungle gym of a cafeteria." More laughter.
I almost ended the call but calmed myself down, "Okay, so where are you all anyway?"
"We're outside by the big treebunny."
I ended the call and directed Greg outside where the others were surprising just sitting on a bench and eating in the shade that the tree casted. Walking towards them with Greg in tow, we sat beside and began eating our own lunch. It was nice and quiet; the weather was a little cloudy and the wind was breezy but other than that the sun shined bright overhead.
"I didn't think that the weather would actually be this nice." Alex cuddled up against Charlie now on the grass leaning on the big tree.
Nodding my agreement while wolfing down my banana and peanut butter sandwich, I looked around and there were a few students outside that shared the same idea. Some sitting in the sun drinking up the rays and some lounging in the shade. The wind picked up only a bit and with both the sun and the cool air, it was pure bliss.
{(Wipes forehead) To my favorite band: Tribal Ink, you will be forever missed...I still love your music though. ROCK ON! (*.*)/'}
