The gravestones glistened underneath
the sun, illuminating the path to
lost souls.
Charlie pushed the stroller around
the cemetery, going in circles
to avoid the single gravestone
he came to see.
His fingers clenched the handle
and he looked down into the soil
of a thousand bodies.
He knew exactly where she lay,
where her soul had drifted away from,
but he couldn't bring himself to
see her name etched into rock,
as his own soul was not ready
to open its eyes.
