Chapter 27 – LoganPOV

Alpha I heard in my head, from Masen.

Yes?

I'm looking at some of the files from the seize and I'm not too sure but I'm fairly certain that Anna – he continued as I stewed, angrily, wanting to rip Anna and Adinas' head off.

"Mrs. Fox," Tallon stopped glancing at Caelem, "Mr. and Mrs. DeLuca, the complaint made against you, by Mrs. Fox, Henrys' mother, Mrs. DeLuca is that you helped Mr. Fox with the kidnapping of a child and now he is missing. When that was brought to our attention, we held this trial to get at the truth for Mrs. Fox and since the kidnapping was mentioned we wanted to get that out of the way as well."

"That being said, Mr. DeLuca, we can't dismiss signed documents because you signed them when you believed that your mate was innocent, but it turns out she is involved and might have information on Mrs.Fox sons' whereabouts. And we certainly can't dismiss your part in the kidnapping of a child," I glanced at Derrick, his eyes full of sorrow and even worse was Martin, I'm not even sure Adina knew what was coming at her but by the looks on Martin and Derrick they did.

Adina noticing their faces, the pained look on her mates' face, the shaking of his entire being, his glare on the Elders, she blurts out nothing I would have expected.

Her words gave me entrance to her thoughts, "Derrick relax," she sobbed, "we might be separated but it won't be for long, do-don't bring-g m-m-more t-trouble," Adina took their faces – Martin and Derrick – to mean that there was no way out, she would be punished for her crime.

Child kidnapping – a crime that she believed the sentence was 30 years in either the prison of the pack in which the victim belonged or the Elders'.

Derrick was literally crying, silently, and Adina was trying to bring him comfort, not understanding.

Rogue. Adina.

Obviously not only did she not know what made her mate behave this way, but she didn't know of ethic of reciprocity either. I – over the years – in looking for Rainy had begun following and adopting, living the proverb, 'What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.' Adina... not so much.

Tallon sat down, "Actually," Tallon said carefully, slowly... trying to avoid my eyes, "in 2000 after many pack children kidnapping by rogues," I turned to Adina, "the punishment for such a crime is no longer confinement, but death."

Her eyes grew to the size of quarters her mouth hung, body immobile, I'm pretty sure everything dawned on her at that point, the reason why so many people left after watching her hand over Rainy drugged.

No amount of testimony from anyone would change the punishment she would be receiving.

"That rule is – my mate isn't a rogue Elders and Rainella isn't a wolf that is able to procreate with just anyone, this rule doesn't apply to my mate," Derrick said weakly.

Werewolves had become increasingly humanized over time, and no longer Feral and a danger to society, however for that to have happened the Elders had to be to wolves what the justice system was to humans. And what better way to ensure that we could live amongst humans than to adopt their laws and regulation. So they did. Still, child kidnapping, especially young girls still occurred more frequently especially when an individual sought authority and believed in the power in numbers.

Nonetheless, no matter how Derrick tried to play this Adina was guilty.

"Elders, how – how do we even know if that child is even Chris'?" because that would make a difference, I rolled my eyes.

"Whether or not Christopher DeLuca is the mate of the child or not is not relevant," Caelum said nipping that right in the bud, "Your mate drugged and helped in the kidnapping of the child." Done.

"The law doesn't state what type of wolf has to be kidnapped for any wolf to be put to death Beta DeLuca for said crime," Tallon completed.

"Death?" Adina said pale, looking awfully green.

"That is correct-"

"Elders I must ask that the victim be allowed to speak her peace on the matter of sentencing as she was the one kidnapped," I cut Caelum off; he conferred with Tallon, before nodding at me.

I don't want everyone knowing that all the children were abused I hear from Chris over the link, his eyes focused on the camera that Grant was holding in the back, worried this was being broadcasted on the Elder Log.

I could see where he was coming from, but how fair was that... to Keith, Cole, Sarah, Hannah, Lily, Michael and Bailey? Did they not deserve justice for their crimes as well? Still I could see Chris' point on this, he was trying to protect them, and he didn't want their captivity to follow them for the rest of their lives. I respected that.

Opening the file, playing the video to my left, 'I want Adina to spend a year imprisoned for each act of abuse,' I stopped the file, before the rest could be played.

"As you can see, she doesn't want Adina to be put to death, she'd rather Adina be kept a lone-" I stopped taking the top of the papers that was of Rainy and Kayla's files, plus the meticulously organized documentation Seth kept of each and every injury, he or any one inflicted against the child and Rainy, only handing Elders Tallon and Caelum Rainy and Kaylas' files, "one year for each injury and act of abuse."

Before they can even answer, I start packing my laptop up, gathering my documents, Tallons' face was a mask of horror as he skimmed the almost 30 pieces of paper, "Alpha Logan, there are over thousands-"

"Rainy was the one hurt, you heard what she asked, there are the documentation it's either one year for every transgression or death," I said bluntly packed and ready to get out, Grace was crying and Chris was vibrating in anger, I cared for no one else, not even Martin who wouldn't face Derrick, but also couldn't get Chris to focus on him.

I stood waiting for whatever the decision would be, but knowing it wouldn't be enough.

Death or a year for each wrong, it all still happened, but now I was setting my sight on Anna, she was truly selfish. Adina may have 'thought' that she was doing a 'good' thing by giving Seth his mate, but Anna was a whole new kind of bad.

I kept my face blank, waiting, and then both Elders Tallon and Caelum stood.

Everything seemed to be happing in slow motion; the Elders sped past me, "Nooooo!" Derrick roared, trying to push Adina behind him, knowing – expecting – what was coming, surprising me. Tallon tackled a roaring, fighting Derrick off the stage, flying and crushing Derrick beneath him, their security helping him hold Derrick down, while Martin lay flatten below him and Caelum charged for Adina, savage-like, growling, his hands around her neck, there was a crunch, and Caelum twisted his arms, pulling, ripping Adinas' head from her body, dropping her head unceremoniously to the ground.

"Oh god! Addy!" Derrick cried out in pain, the audience wide-eyed and in shock, as Tallon lifted his self from Derrick. On stage, seven feet away from me, Caelum turned to face me, walking past me, her blood – Adinas' – covering his arms, shirt, face and all.
