as expected, minseo opened the door with a bag of belongings and ran to johnny's car, tears visible in her eyes. she opened the car door, throwing herself inside and slamming the door shut.
"jesus, minseo, what the hell happened in there?" johnny didn't think she was that serious, as minseo was already a dramatic person but to see her in this state made him genuinely worry.
"dude i really think my house is like actually haunted," she breathed. johnny began to pull out of her driveway and drive off. "things were falling, and lights were flickering, and this stupid storm wasn't making anything worse and i think i'm just being a big fucking baby-"
johnny already knew that his friend was terrified of thunder storms. ever since she was a kid it was her worst fear, and on top of that she was home alone and having strange occurrences, so easily he understood why she was so scared.
"okay, it's fine, you're out now you're gonna be okay." he went into his 'baby voice' or the voice he used when he tried to be comforting.
minseo breathed in and out heavily, wiping her tears from her face. "i feel so stupid making everyone come out so late and in the pouring fucking rain."
it was reaching 10 o'clock and the rain was still pouring down like no tomorrow. in the moment she wasn't thinking about anyone else and now she just felt plain guilty.
"i'm sure it's fine, no one complained about it and they all seemed excited." neither of them imagined their first hang out with almost all of the gang to end up like this.
they pulled up to johnny's house and there was already a car sitting in front of his home. the two could hardly see the two figures hop out of the car but soon recognized them as taeyong and jaehyun. johnny and minseo got out after them, minseo using her bag to shield herself from the rain.
"hey!" johnny called out. they quickly greeted each other and while jaehyun and johnny chatted for a second, taeyong and minseo made eye contact before she looked away quickly and sped up to the front of johnny's house.
johnny tossed the keys to her in which she quickly unlocked the door and flung herself inside of his house, sighing of relief as she set her bag down. the guys followed behind her and the light was turned on. minseo was given a chance to see taeyong and jaehyun clearly. in pictures they were already god's but in real life it was a whole different story, their damp hair made minseo flush slightly as it made them 10x more attractive. meanwhile, her face was still puffy and eyes still read from the crying and there were probably tear streaks down her face.
taeyong looked at her again and chuckled, "well isn't this an interesting way to meet."
jaehyun ruffled his hair, droplets of rain splashing everywhere. "yep. totally didn't imagine it would be like this."
minseo didn't know what to say but she was embarrassed they were meeting like this. because she was too much of a baby to stay in her own house and bare with a little thunder storm.
"aha.. totally," she replied awkwardly. over the phone she may have been a social butterfly, but was the complete opposite in real life.
before things could get anymore awkward, she slightly pushing past them into johnny's living room. she sat down and sunk into the couch, feeling relieved that she wasn't alone anymore. it wasn't long until the others came and joined her, taeyong taking the seat right next to her while johnny went on the other side and jaehyun went to the love seat.
taeyong playfully slung his arm around minseo. "she sure is quiet and real life, huh?"
minseo rolled her eyes and forced his arm off of her. jaehyun chuckled while johnny scoffed, "just wait till she gets comfortable with you. she never shuts up."
minseo's mouth gaped open as she hit johnny on his arm, him just laughing in return. the room got quiet then and the only sound was the pouring rain outside. minseo was shy but she also didn't really feel like speaking. she wanted to calm down first and find some comfort in being around people, which is exactly what she was doing. taeyong on the other hand was ecstatic to be in the same room as her, even if he wasn't showing it. neither of them still couldn't believe that they hadn't met sooner seeing as minseo's friends were already friends with taeyong and jaehyun.
there was a knock at the door, breaking the silence and signaling that someone just arrived. johnny went to get up but minseo pushed him down and said 'i got it' before jogging up to the door.
she opened it and was faced with taeil, who was also a little damp. he smiled slightly after seeing minseo and she smiled back, pulling him into a quick hug before moving aside to let him in.
"fyi, i will only leave my house this late and in the rain for you. feel special." minseo chuckled and nodded showing him that she definitely understood. just as she went to close the door she was stopped by yelling coming from outside.
"don't close it! we're here!!" she looked around and finally spotted two boys with hoods up running towards her. she recognized mark but not the other boy, she thought it must've been haechan since she didn't know what he looked like. they caught up to the door and stood for a second trying to catch their breath.
"hi minseo!" mark greeted happily.
"hey, mark. you must be haechan?" she questioned.
the other boy nodded, "yeah," minseo couldn't help but notice how the two came together, despite their little feud they had just a few days ago. "aw, you guys came together. did you walk here?"
"no, we took a bus and ran from the bus station now please let us in it's cold and we're wet." haechan complained, slightly jumping up and down in an attempt to get warm. minseo didn't expect anything less from the whiny boy she met online.
she moved aside so they would walk inside, hearing johnny yell for them to take off their shoes before walking fully inside. they did as he said and slipped their hoods off their heads before strolling into the living room where minseo followed right behind them.
haechan and taeyong immediately glared at each other as he walked into the room.
"seriously? you guys are still gonna act like that with each other?" jaehyun chuckled.
mark and haechan sat on the floor in front of the couch as there was no room left for me. "you know what? we got off on the wrong foot, let's start over."
haechan turned around and held his hand out with a mischievous smile on his face, but minseo couldn't tell whether or not he was being serious because of the way he said things.
taeyong narrowed his eyes and did a 'bro' handshake with haechan. "i don't trust this kid one bit."
"wise decision." haechan replied. the rest of them laughed and began to start a conversation. minseo wanted to get to know them as they talked to each other online everyday, so it only made sense. her friend group grew so fast but she didn't complain nor did she mind, she felt having all these friends meant she could always rely on them for anything. she was just a still shocked because after all this time her friends had never introduced them despite being just as close.
as minseo was thinking about eunha, the door busted open and she walked into the house with open arms and a canned soda, "i'm here bitches!"
the others laughed at her entrance and she greeted everyone before sitting on the arm of the couch and sipped her soda.
"why do you have so much energy at 10:30 pm?" jaehyun asked. she just shrugged, "i'm just cool like that." putting the can up to her lips and taking a sip.
jaehyun scoffed causing eunha to throw up her middle finger at him only for him to throw one back.
"i'm already bored. you really dragged me here just to sit here and do nothing." haechan complained, again.
minseo squinted her eyes as she looked at him in disbelief, "you came here on your own will, no one forced you."
"nope i definitely recall being forcefully dragged out of house, you weren't there so you wouldn't know."
minseo rolled her eyes and shoved him with her foot as he was sitting right in front of her. he turned around and slapped her thigh, "ow!" they then began hitting each other back and forth before johnny told them to cut it out and that they weren't 10.
"i won." haechan triumphantly smiled. "no you didn't-"
"why am i not surprised? the two most stubborn people in our group. stop arguing." johnny once again interrupted. they both crossed their arms and pouted like children while minseo pulled the 'he started it.'
"yeah, argue with me instead, minseo." taeyong, sitting up straight, ready to feud with minseo.
minseo looked at him with confusion, "you don't wanna argue with me, trust me."
the door bell rang and this time johnny went up to get the door. he spent a couple seconds chatting and in walked jungwoo, a smile on his face and his hair damp like the others. he shook his head, water going everywhere just like jaehyun. must be a guy thing. the people closest to jungwoo shielded themselves from the water and he chuckled from their reactions.
"hi guys!" he said. he went up and gave minseo a quick hug and greeted everyone else before sitting on the floor with mark and haechan.
"the whole gangs here, except the chinese ones." said taeyong.
"we're still missing doyoung."
"who? oh, him."
minseo turned and looked at taeyong, knowing exactly what he was thinking. she rolled her eyes and turned away, not saying anything else. it was weird to say but she was already comfortable with the atmosphere. mainly because she wasn't home alone terrified and fearing for her life, but also she was surrounded by her friends and even the people she's never met before didn't freak her out. easy to say she was extremely shy in real life but it didn't take long for her to get over herself.
there was a knock on the door, specially the last knock of the night. minseo got up so fast she almost tripped over mark but maintained her posture and sprinted to the door. she then realized she was looking a little rough so she jogged back into the living room.
"do i look okay?" she whispered.
"who do you need to look good for?" asked taeyong, a slight attitude dripping from his mouth. minseo made a mocking gesture at him and jungwoo made a signal with his hand for her to lean down to him.
she did and he fixed a few strands of hair and wiped her face with the sleeve of his sweatshirt, then nodding in satisfaction. "perfect!" minseo smiled and thanked him and ran back to the door and opened it.
like everyone else, he was damp but he couldn't have looked better to minseo. just seeing him made her stomach turn and a big smile appear on her face. as soon as he saw her he smiled too.
"hey, can i come in?" he asked politely. minseo couldn't say anything but just allowed him to come in. they walked into the living room together and he greeted everyone in the room. even taeyong, who for some reason acted normal around him but she knew his thoughts weren't the same as his actions.
everyone was gathered and relaxed in the living room, talking amongst themselves.
"now we need something to do." johnny spoke up.
mark gasped slightly as if an idea popped into his head, "can we bake cookies?"
haechan turned to look at him in utter confusion at the boys suggestion. "who the fuck makes cookies this late?"
eunha's smile at marks idea was disrupted by her scoffing at haechan remark, "um, does baking cookies have a bedtime? i don't think so, bitch, you're outnumbered so we bakin' cookies whether you like it or not."
