(Y/N)'s POV
I woke up around 7am on a Saturday morning, because today is my 18th birthday. My parents planned a debut party for me and the venue is at a hotel where we are currently checked-in, so I have to get ready because the party starts at 5pm.
I walked over to the luxurious bathroom to wash my face, brush my teeth and have a shower. Lou Teasdale, the hairstylist, will come around 9am in my hotel room after I eat breakfast.
I looked at my phone to see a lot of notifications from all of my social media accounts, greeting me a happy birthday. But I didn't see Niall's.
“Maybe he is still sleeping.” I thought to myself
After tucking my pastel blue and white striped long sleeves into my jeans, I paired it with my low-cut white CDGxConverse, then I went downstairs to go to the restaurant to have breakfast with my family.
I had scrambled eggs with avocado toast, hash brown, and an iced coffee. My parents left after they ate to check
if everything is going alright on the venue. Since it was still early, I decided to stay and kill my time in the restaurant by reading a book on my phone. While I was too busy reading, if Lou didn't text me that she's on her way up, I didn't notice that it was time for me to leave. So I stood up from my table and went straight back to my room.
When the elevator opens, I saw Lou standing on the foyer, with a luggage that I'm pretty sure that is full of make-up and hair stuff.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, I lost track of time.” I said opening my hotel room and letting her in
“It's okay, I just got here like 2 minutes ago.” She said and hugged me “You look beautiful as always and of course, Happy birthday!”
“Thanks, Lou.” I said and pulled away “We could do the hair and make up here. Is this okay?” I said guiding her to the living room
“This is perfect, hon.” She said putting her stuff down “Before I forget.” She added giving me a present
“Gosh, Lou. You didn't have to.” I said and hugged her again
“What kind of friend I am if I will not give you a present on your birthday.” She said smiling at me waiting for me to open it
I smiled and said thank you. When I opened it, it was a charm bracelet that she got from Italy.
“This is beautiful. I'm going to wear it today.” I said “Thank you so much.”
“You're welcome, hon. Now let's get ready.” She said and I sat down on her 'director's chair'
After an hour or so, my hair and make-up is done. I looked so beautiful, Lou did great.
“You look so gorgeous, (Y/N)!” She said admiring the work that she has done “I didn't even know you could look even more gorgeous with make-up.”
“Oh shut up.” I said blushing at her compliment
“Niall's going to be shookt when he sees you.” She said and I giggled
I just realized that Niall haven't greeted me yet. It's already 11am and he should be awake by now.
“Did I say something wrong? Because your face dropped all of a sudden.” She asked
“Oh no.. no. I was just worried because Niall hasn't texted or called me yet.” I sighed
“Maybe he's just busy or something. Niall would greet you if he wasn't, right?” She said and I smiled and nod
“You're right.” I said and stood up
Then there was a ring on my door. Lou opened it for me while I was looking at my phone waiting for Niall to call or text.
“Look who's here.” Lou said and then I see my parents entering the room all glam-ed up
“My baby girl is a woman now.” Mom said hugging me
“Mom..” I chuckled hugging her back
“Happy birthday princess.” Dad said hugging me also “Here is your present. I know that you've been wanting to have this.”
It was a necklace from Tiffany. It's the necklace that I've been saving up for.
“Mom, dad! You didn't have to.” I said tearing up “Thank you so much!” I added, hugging them again
After getting ready and doing the film stuff. It was time for me to wear my dress. When I was about to wear it, my phone rang and it was Niall. I excused myself from the person who is about to help me wear my dress.
I swear I felt relieved when I saw his contact picture on my screen. I walked over to the balcony and closed the sliding door behind me to have some privacy.
“Happy birthday.” He said once I answered the call “I'm sorry I called late, I was in a meeting and I woke up past my alarm and then-”
“It's okay.” I said “I'm just happy that you didn't forget.”
“Why would I forget my girlfriend's birthday huh?” He chuckled and I smiled
“I can't wait to see you. I'm actually about to wear my dress now. The party is going to start soon.” I said “You're still going right?”
“Yeah, of course. I'll be there. A promise is a promise.” He said
Due to his busy schedule, we barely hang out and I totally understand that, because it's his job and his life. He's been touring all around the world and he is in Seoul, Korea today. He is flying to the States just to attend my birthday.
“Well, I'll see you later. I have to get ready now.” I said “Love you.”
“Bye, love you too.” He said and I hang up
I went back inside and told the person who's in charge on my dress that I'm ready to wear it. Before taking me a professional shot, I walked over to the mirror to wear the necklace that my parents got me.

The party has begun and there a lot of people who attended my party. I saw all of my cousins, aunts and uncles and my other relatives, also my friends from school and Niall's friends that also became my friends.
I was mesmerized from the place. From floor to ceiling, the venue was fully decorated. The theme is inspired from my favorite disney princess character and I really felt like a princess tonight.
While my cousins are performing, I looked around the venue to see if Niall has arrived. Then I asked Lou if she already saw Niall. She shook her head and said no.
After my friends and relatives performed there dance and song number, it was time for the 18 roses. This part is where I pick 18 guys to dance with me and give me one rose after we dance.
I was really hoping that he'll walk to those double doors with that baby-I'm-here smile.
I asked Lou, once again, if he is already here, but she said no. He should be here by now because he is one of the 18 roses.
I asked the organizer to move the segment after we eat. The organizer nod in approval. I asked Lou to get my phone so I can call Niall, but after contacting him about a couple of times, I got no answer.
“Maybe his flight got delayed.” I thought to myself
After an hour, people have finished eating and it was already time for the 18 roses, but Niall haven't arrived yet. My heart dropped when the emcee called my name and said that the 18 roses is about to start. I smiled at him and nod.
I've got my eye on the door just waiting for him to walk in, but the time is ticking. While me and my partner are dancing, asking me how have I been, but I wasn't paying attention, I was too busy listening to Niall's voice saying that he'll be here.
“I'll be there. A promise is a promise.”
When the segment was done, I went to the bathroom. I was literally about to cry, but I told myself to keep my shit together because I don't want to go outside looking like shit. Once I walked out of the bathroom, I saw Liam standing on the hallway.
“Hey Liam, what are you doing here?” I asked
“Well I saw you going through these hallways and I got worried.” He answered “Something wrong?”
“I'm fine. You should be out there.” I said and he offered his arm to link mine with his like a gentleman
I linked my arm around his and we walked out together “You should be the one out there. You are about to blow your candles, birthday girl.”
When we entered the venue, people are all standing and smiling at me.
“Okay one.. two.. three.. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..”
It was like slow motion standing there in my party dress in red lipstick, with no one to impress. And there all standing around me singing, 'happy birthday to you', but there was one thing missing..
After the party, we packed all of our stuffs in our hotel rooms and got back home around 12am.
Once we are settled in, I went straight to my bedroom and ran over to my bed to pour all of my emotions.
He called me later and said “I'm sorry I didn't make it.”
and I said “I'm sorry too.”
..and that was the moment I knew.
