"Where are we going?" Clara asks, as she walks toward her destination blindfolded.
"You'll see...." Lane replies. She could feel his unforgettable smirk, hidden by the blindfold.
"Here we are! You can take off your blindfold now."
"SURPRISE!" the whole room shouts. Clara embraces Lane with a long hug and a peck on the cheek.
"You didn't!" Clara smiles.
"Of course I did. It's your Sweet Sixteen Clara! I had to make it extra special." Lane smiles.
"I love you." Clara says with the biggest grin in the world.
"I love you more!" Lane pulls her into a bear hug. The crowd surrounds the two, while the DJ plays a slow song.
"Let's dance." Lane twirls Clara around and places his hands on her hips. Clara wraps her arms around his neck as they begin to sway back and fourth.
"You know, I've been meaning to ask you something important." Lane winks.
"Oh yeah? What?" Clara asks, wondering what would be so important on the night of her 16th birthday. Lane kneels down on one knee and pulls a Tiffany box out of his pocket. He opens it, revealing a bright, shimmering diamond ring. Clara is stunned. She stands there with her mouth hanging open.
"Will you marry me?" Lane asks with a glint of hope in his eyes.
"Yes!" Clara exclaims, jumping into Lane's arms as if she is as light as a feather. Lane pulls her into a long passionate kiss. At that moment, Clara knew it was the beginning of a new life.
