***Vince's POV***

Isang linggo makalipas ang announcement ng Student Council members for this school year, naging busy na ang lahat. Lalo na ako.

"First agenda natin for this year ay ang Miss Monte Carlo High 2015." I wrote it on the whiteboard. May ilang tumatango at may ilang nag-susulat sa notebook nila. I was about to proceed with the details of the activity nang biglang bumukas ang pintuan ng SC room at pumasok ang hinihingal na si Dawn-- ang bagong Senior Representative ng SC.

"Sorry, Mr. SC President.

"Take your seat, Dawn. I'll have a word with you after this meeting." "Going back, this year's Miss Monte Carlo High will be a little different from the ones that we had in the past. Kung noon, kung sino lang yung gustong sumali 'yun ang kukuning contestants, this year hindi na ganoon. We will require all levels, all sections to have at least one representative."

Asked Jenny-- the third year representative.

"As I've said, it's a requirement that all sections in all levels to have a representative."

Asked another member.

"No problem with that. Kasi ang sistema natin ngayon-- elimination round, semis and then finals. We aim to let our ladies showcase their beauty and talent.

Another member asked.

"One day lang ang eliminations. Talent at question and answer lang. It will not be shown to the student body anyway. For semis and finals, which will happen days after the eliminations, doon na sila mag-susuot ng gown. Ito na yung ipapalabas in front of the entire student body."

"Paano ang judging?"

"We will have a set of judges-- I have people in mind, pero syempre, I want to hear your ideas. For the eliminations-- talent, intelligence and beauty criteria. For the semis and finals, idadagdag natin ang audience impact at stage presence."

"Suggestion. If we have audience impact on the criteria, bakit hindi tayo gumamit ng social media and text votes to help with this criteria?" I liked the idea, too.

"That's actually a great idea. Sige, let's add that on the criteria." I looked at Rhea-- the SC Secretary from class 4-2. The meeting continued at nag-brainstorming na kami sa theme at division of labor for the said event.

I knew what my label was-- playboy, chickboy, casanova. My grades went up, with the help of Red, tapos ngayon, President ako ng SC. I want to prove to her at sa lahat ng tao na hindi lang ako superficial.

"Anong pag-uusapan natin, Mr. SC President?" I looked at her and noticed na may konting dungis pa siya sa mukha niya. I pulled out my handkerchief from my pocket at pinunasan ang pisngi niya.

I said that in my sweetest tone and I saw her blushed.

"S-Sorry. Eh kasi naman sila..." I held her chin at ini-angat ito para matignan ko siya.

"Ayoko nang masaktan ka ulit, in any way and form. I will protect you, Dawn, until my last breath."

***Red's POV***

Ano ba 'yan. I entered our classroom at dumiretso sa upuan ko. Finally, peace. I expected our class to have Melissa join the pageant. Siya naman ang class muse, eh.

"Before we start the class, I know that you are already aware of the upcoming Miss Monte Carlo High eliminations next week. And I assume that Melissa, will be in the competition, right?" Mr. Cabrera paused and looked at Melissa. She just nodded and smiled at our class adviser.

"Sir." One of our classmates raised his hand.

"Yes, Marc."

"I heard class 4-2 has a new student and she's...well, they said it's a sure win for them. I suggest we send more than one candidate, just to be sure."

"Are you trying to say that I can't do it?!" Sagot ni Melissa.

"Hey, Mel. I agree with Marc. I saw that new girl and no offense, she's really pretty." At nagsimula nang umingay ang klase.

"Okay, okay. Class, calm down." "We can have another candidate, no problem with that. And no offense to you, Melissa, but we have to give chance to the other girls who wanted to join. I think that's fair enough, right?" "So, who's the brave soul to join Melissa and represent class 4-1 in the pageant?" Silence.

"Can I nominate someone?" Nag-taas ng kamay si Peter Castillo.

"That's okay. We'll ask her if she's willing to join. Who are you nominating, Peter?"

"Dawn Dominguez." Ano daw?!

"Don't be angry, Dawn. I'm just nominating. Hey, Campus Hearthrob will not like you if you're not pretty, right?"

"I agree. Please, give it a try, Dawn."

"You have to do it, slave."

"What do you want this time?"

"I need a talent for the pageant."

"So?

"I don't--"

"Bawal tumanggi." At agad siyang lumabas ng classroom. I had to endure a few days with her again.

Vince said two days before the eliminations.

"I'll do my best, the rest is up to her."

"Good morning!"

"Wow! Mukhang may maganda ang gising ngayong Sabado, ah?" Vince smiled at her and she replied with a smile, too.

"I'm here to get my guitarist. She then looked at me with that same smile still on her lips. It felt ike a thousand needles pricked on my heart. Bakit ka ba ganyan sa 'kin, Dawn?

"I'll just get my guitar."

"Okay, sige, pare.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Let's continue with the song, please."

"No. Her face soften and she looked me in the eye. 'Yun na ba yung signs and symptoms ng crush or love?

"I'm fine. I'm just... focusing more on studies."

"Studies?

I had always been calm, pero ipit na ipit na ako sa sitwasyong ito and I had no choice. "So-Sorry, Dawn. Stressed lang siguro talaga ako." I looked down at my hand at naramdaman ko at kamay niya sa balikat ko.

***Dawn's POV***

"Good luck, ate Dawn." I heard her voice while we were inside the dressing room changing for our talent presentation. It was the day of the eliminations at sobrang busy ang lahat mag-bihis at mag-retouch.

"Good luck din." She tried many times to apologize, pero sadyang bato ako sa kanya.

"Girls, one minute!"

I cornered him in the hallway after ng first class namin that day.

I told you to minimize being violent to others. Napag-usapan na natin 'to, 'di ba?" Sa lambing ng boses niya, nakalimutan ko na kung bakit ko inatake si Castillo in the first place.

"I'm sorry, Vince. Siya kasi, eh. Napahiya ako sa ginawa niya."

"Wala ka bang bilib sa sarili mo? He's actually right, alam mo ba 'yun? Hindi ako magkaka-gusto sa 'yo, if you are not pretty. Hindi naman sa 'yun ang una kong nagustuhan sa'yo, pero nung tumagal, I just noticed kung gaano ka kaganda. Lalo na kapag ngumingiti ka." Oh, no. Here he goes again. "Isang smile nga diyan!" I blushed and I couldn't help but to smile at him. This person. He's special.

"Dawn, you're next." Kainis!

"Ready?" He asked when he approached me in the line backstage.

"Thank you for that very energetic dance, contestant number two. Next is contestant number three, from class 4-1, Princess Dawn Dominguez!" I climb the stage with Red behind me at naramdaman kong parang nanlambot ang mga tuhod ko. I sat on the monoblock chair and Red sat on the chair beside me. He looked at me and he started playing his guitar.

"The sun is filling up the room

And I can hear you dreaming

Do you feel the way I do right now?

I wish we would just give up

Cause the best part is falling

Call it anything but love"

"And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?"

Boses namin.

"Please don't stand so close to me

I'm having trouble breathing

I'm afraid of what you'll see right now

I give you everything I am

All my broken heart beats

Until I know you'll understand

And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?"

I looked at the people watching us at talagang attentive sila sa ginagawa naming pagkanta. Hindi pa ako nakakanta sa harap ng maraming tao kaya sobrang kabdo ako sa talent portion na 'to, pero for some reason, hindi ganun ang nararamdaman ko ngayon.

"And I keep waiting

For you to take me

You keep waiting

To save what we have"

I couldn't believe how good our voices were together. I never intended to sing this before, pero dahil hindi niya alam ang chords ng unang kantang gusto ko, we settled for the only Christina Perri song that he knew. I closed my eyes at inisip na walang nanonood sa 'kin.

"So I'll make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?"

I opened my eyes at nang mapalingon ako sa direksyon niya, there's something different in him. It's like the words of the song were his own.

"Make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

How long 'til we call this love, love, love?"

Applause. I finally remembered why I was here and singing this song. I stood up at nakita kong lumalakad na pababa ng stage si Red. I bowed to the judges and quickly walked down the stage.

"Red!" I was only a few feet away from him pero hindi ko na nagawang habulin pa siya dahil humarang sa daraanan ko si Vince.

"That's so awesome, Dawn! I didn't know you sing that great! You actually sounded ike Christina Perri, the judges were amazed by your performance!"

"Th-thanks. I need to go to the Girls' Room first. Excuse me." I'm now definite that Red is hiding something from me. And I'm going to find that out, by hook or by crook.
