Chapter Eleven | Starcourt
I smiled big when I see Lucas and Will all standing out at our new hang out. A new mall has been built in the Hawkins and that's where everyone goes now.
Over the holidays, a few things had happened. Firstly; Eleven, Max, and I had all grown close to each other. Then, Lucas and Max are now officially a couple. Which blows my mind because I never thought I'd see the day that Max Mayfield got herself a boyfriend.
Then, Mike and Eleven had gotten together, they can't stop kissing each other, I swear. They spend every single day together, whenever I hang out with them I'm the third wheel which makes me super uncomfortable. And, whenever I hang out with Lucas and Max, I'm once again a third wheel.
So, what do I do when I'm not third wheeling with my best friends? Well, I hang out with Will, of course. Dustin had gone on a camp and his mother is going now to pick him up, meaning we couldn't spend time with him and he comes back tomorrow.
Will and I got extremely close over the past few weeks of this holiday, just because we can't deal the fact that we're third-wheeling constantly so we might as well just hang out with each other to make our holidays less boring.
"Hi, Will." I sand next to him and he gives me a smile.
"Hey, Aspen," Will greets back. "Have you heard from Mike yet? He's late, per usual." I chuckle, typical Mike. Always being late and I'm most definite this time it's because of Eleven.
Lucas gave Max a kiss in greeting. Thank the lord for Will. I shake my head. "No, I haven't, sorry." Will shrugged.
I then notice Mike, coming towards us on his bike and Lucas wasn't happy. "You're late." Lucas pointed out, annoyance linked in his tone.
"Sorry!" Mike apologised.
"Again,"
"We're going to miss the opening." I realised, my eyes widening. Awe, man, the opening is the important thing about the movies.
"Yeah, if you guys keep whining about it." Mike rolled his eyes and locks his bike on the bike stand. "Let's go!"
"If you guys keep whining about it, nyeh-nyeh-nyeh," Lucas mocked.
"Just please stop talking, dude." Mike sighed.
We then rushed into the mall. "Let me guess!" I say, catching up with the group. "You were busy-" Lucas then smacks his lips together, making kissy sounds.
"Oh, yeah, real mature guys." Mike grumbled.
"Oh, El, I wish we can make out forever, and never hang out with any of our friends." Lucas mocked Mike's voice, making it sound all romantic and shit.
"Lucas, stop." Max tells her boyfriend. I had fallen behind with Will. Max, Mike, and Lucas were at the front.
"Aspen and Will thinks it funny," Lucas smiled.
"Because it is," Will and I say in sync, laughing.
"Yeah, it's so funny that I want to spend romantic time with my girlfriend." Mike dramatically says.
Lucas pulled Max in for a side hug. "I'm spending romantic time with my girlfriend." We then made our way through the escalators, people getting annoyed at us because we were basically pushing through.
"Watch it!" A preppy girl snaps at us as we made it down to the ground level, Mike had accidentally bumped into another girl.
"Yeah, watch it, nerd!" A kid on the chairs wit her friends sassed us. Oh, that kid was Lucas's sister, Erica, eating icecream.
"Isn't it past your bedtime?" Lucas glared at his sister as he walked by.
"Isn't it time you died?" Erica sassed back she then smiled at me. "Hi, Aspen!"
"Hi, Erica!" I waved at her.
Lucas rolled his eyes. "Psycho!"
"Butthead!"
"Mallrat!"
"Fart face!"
Lucas then blew a raspberry and Max had enough of it, grabbing her boyfriends arm and dragging him away. "Oh, that was mature," Max tells Lucas.
We then entered the ice cream, where Steve worked at. He can get us free entrants, he agreed to it. We've been actually doing it for the past month now, ever since he worked here. We can sneak around the back.
We walked right over to the counter, where Robin works. Mike dings on the bell. "Hey, dingus, your children are here." Robin spits sarcastically.
Steve then opens the windows behind the work counter. "Again? Seriously?" Steve questions, annoyed. Mike then pressed the bell again. Steve leads us to the back. "Come on, come on." He tried to hurry us up. "I swear if anyone hears about this-"
"We're dead!" We all speak in sync, clearly knowing our consequences. We snuck to the entrance of the movie theatres.
"All clear," Mike says and opens the door. We act casual and walked through the entrance. We entered the right movie and sat down at the front where there were some spare seats.
I hope no one paid for these.
"See, Lucas? We made it." Mike then stated.
"We missed the previews," Lucas tells Mike. Which was true, we did miss the previews.
"Still made it. Fart face." Max bickered, Lucas sighed and shakes his head, smiling. Max smiled too and faced the movie screen.
I was between Will and Mike. I inch a bit closer to Will who clearly noticed. There's also something else that I got in the holidays. Feelings. Lots and lots of feelings towards Will.
Not in a friendship kind of way, no, but a crush is starting to come along. Will then got out the snacks from his bag and I hand Mike a can of sprite. Will hands me a plastic water bottle, which I was surprised. I'm not that big of a fan of soda, they taste gross.
I'm surprised that Will actually got me something to drink. I smiled gratefully and take the water out of his hands, he smiled back. I remember I told him once that I didn't like soda at all, he actually remembered that.
To be fair, I told everyone that I didn't like soda because we were all out for dinner one time. They all stared at me like I had something on my face.
Mike nudged me a little, a teasing grin on his face. I rolled my eyes. I might've spilt the beans to Mike that I liked Will. Mike had apologised to me for being a dick for the first months we've been friends, I accepted it because I believe people do get second chances.
The film begins, it was a horror film. I hated horror films back Max blackmailed me into coming. She loved horror films. She said that Will be here and she'll ask whether or not Will likes me back. I didn't want that happening, I don't want my poor heart crushed when he says he doesn't like me back.
The audio then stops, my eyes widening. Thank the lord!
I grinned and the others all looked annoyed, just like the rest of the crowd. "Right, lets leave!" I chirp, standing up.
"No!" Mike tells me, pulling me back down. "The powers probably temporary, ya know?" Then the power turns back on and everyone else cheered, while I groan and lean back in my seat.
Max laughed at me. I looked over at Will and he was touching the back of his neck, looking out of it.
"Hey," I slightly nudged him and he gasps a little before looking at me. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Will nodded.
"Are you sure?" Mike joined in our conversation, leaning over slightly.
Will nodded, smiling a little. "Of course."
"Okay," Mike nodded back and turned to the film. I slipped my hand through Will's, trying to make him feel that he's not alone.
Will looked down at our linked hands, my heart raised. Wait, did he not want this? I tried to pull back, but, he gripped onto my hand, stopping me. His grip loosens, leaving our hands linked together.
