Silence Reigns

Watching above in the infinite sky,

Silence looked down from his kingdom on high.

Crossing his arms and shaking his head,

He watched as us people all counted our dead.

Bloody wars and famines had ravaged the lands,

Stealing the life from our poor empty hands

And I, just like Silence, had witnessed this show,

And wondered who was guilty, would we ever know?

Around me, the people, they kill and destroy

And play with the world just like it were a toy

My heart screaming out and my eyes filled with tears,

I cried up to Silence, and knew he would hear.

I lifted my hands to the heavens above,

And softly dear Silence, he sent me a dove,

It carried a paper, and on it was signed,

"I sleep for the weary, and see for the blind."

But, alas, when the people all saw the white bird

They envied its beauty, and flocked like a herd.

They cared not at all for the message from Silence,

And didn't take time to hear out his guidance.

When the bird had been slaughtered and the people had gone,

I searched for an answer, but nowhere found one.

And so I looked back to the paper again,

And there saw the words that said "Silence Will Reign."
