You were once again in your favorite bookshop, looking for the next book to read. It was this dusty, cozy, vanilla-smelling shop almost in the middle of London. You had been going here for as long as you could remember. That feeling of running your fingers across a bookshelf, knowing exactly what you're looking for, was just what you needed. As always.
And there it was. The book you had been looking for. It had just been published, and you had heard all about it. Now, you just couldn't wait to let your eyes slide over each page and take in the story.

You were toying with the book as you made your way to the checkout. "Did you find what you were looking for my dear?"
You placed the book on the counter.
"Of course Mrs. Huttey," You smiled at the nice greyhaired woman behind the desk. "As always!"
"Well that's good my dear. That'll be 15 pounds."
You handed her the money.
"I hope you'll like it." Mrs Huttey gave you a genuine smile as she put the book in a bag for you. "I know I will." You took the bag and made your way towards the exit. "Bye Mrs. Huttey, see you next week." You said as you exited the store leaving the tiny bell to ring, announcing your departure.

Once outside, you quickly took the book out of the bag. It looked way too exiting. You just couldn't wait till you got home to read it.

Once upon a time there was a wonderful land called Athiopea.
It was where everyo-

Suddenly, you had run into someone, and you found yourself on the snowy ground with the book lying beside you.
"Well hello there!" The person chuckled. "Didn't have to fall so hard for me." A warmhearted laughter erupted from the man.
You looked up, completely forgetting about the book.
The laughter belonged to a tall, redheaded man. His eyes were brown, and you felt yourself sink into an awkward yet comfortable eyecontact. You just couldn't stop staring apparently...
"Need help getting up?" You finally managed to break away, as he sent you a compassionate smile asking the question. It was now you realised that you were still sitting on the ground.
He reached out offering you his hand to hold on to, and you took it.
It was now that you noticed his clothes. He was wearing a striped suit with an orange tie, and a small pin depicting a big 'W'.
"Thank you." You smiled. After all, you hadn't said anything to him since you met.

"I'm George. Weasley." He shook your hand.
"Y/n L/n." You mumbled. Books were really your only friends so, naturally, you were a bit shy.

"So... where does such a beauty come from? Diagon Alley?" George smirked.
You could immediately feel your cheeks turning a shade of crimson at the word beauty. "Where's.... uhm... where's Diagon Alley?"
The man suddenly seemed utterly interested in the sky above you. "Err... I meant Devon Avenue..." He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck.
"Sounds nothing like that, but alright..."
"Oh shoot..." George looked at you apologetically. "I have to go."
"Well, bye then." You sighed. The man was already on his way. "Have an absolutely amazing day Y/n!" He exclaimed before disappearing behind a corner.

George's pov.
As I made my way towards Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, I couldn't get Y/n out of my head. I simply had to tell Fred about her. She just seemed so... wonderful. Too bad I probably won't see her again. I frowned.

Once back at the shop, I rushed up to my twin who was currently restocking some of our lovepotions. 'How convenient' I sarcastically thought to myself. "Oi, George! Took you long enough." Fred commented pulling me out of my thoughts. "So, did you get that muggle book about magic tricks?"
I sighed. "Sorry mate, I completely forgot... Got all the other things though..."
Fred chuckled. "Where was your head at? The bookstore is literally right next to The Leaky Cauldron." I shrugged, trying to play it off cool.
"Unless..." Fred came closer. "You met someone. Didn't you?" I blushed. Fred erupted in a roaring laughter before putting his hand on my shoulder. "You did! How amazing! I didn't think a girl would ever fall for you, seeing as I obviously am the more attractive one."
I chuckled a bit. "It's not like that." I groaned, suddenly in a more serious demeanor.
"I probably won't see her again."

"You don't know that." Fred acknowledged.
"Yeah I do." I shrugged. "She's a muggle."
"SHE'S A MUGGLE?!" Fred exclaimed.
I shushed him. "Not so loud! Now the whole shop knows!"
"You're right. Sorry."
"And I'm not sure... but when I asked her about Diagon Alley, she didn't know what it was." It surprised me how serious he could be if he really wanted to. Normally it would be like prank there, joke there, inappropriate line there, but now all that was pretty much gone. I can't say I'm better though... There's a reason we're called the The Troublesome Twins.

"You do realise that if you two were to date, you would have to tell her about the wizarding world. Right?" Fred noted.
I nodded. "Yeah, and I would also have to obliviate her if we broke up. Which is why I won't ask her out. Ever."
Fred sighed. "Listen mate, I know you. If you don't ask her out you're gonna be all sulky and sad all the time because you miss her. Now I know that you've only just met her, but I insist that you ask her out even though she's a muggle. It's not only what's best for you, but also for the shop. Trust me."
Fred finally breathed again, as I played with his words in my head. Maybe I should ask her out. "Alright Fred." I blushed a bit. "I will ask her out. If I ever meet her again that is..."
"Great!" Fred gave me a quick hug before going back to stocking the shelves. "And you know... If she says no, we could always sneak her one of these." Laughing, he handed me a box full of small heart shaped bottles with First Love Beguiling Bubbles.
"Definitly not!" I exclaimed. "Besides, I don't know if it even works on muggles." Now it was Fred's turn to shrug. "Well then she'll be our test-person."
I shook my head. "Merlin's beard Fred! You are such an idiot!"

He smirked at me.

Y/n's pov.
January 18th 1997
You quickly walked into the bookshop again. It had only occurred to you yesterday, that you lost your book! Stupid George, in your head all week! You didn't mean that of course. In fact, you found him very cute.
On your way over here, you had even been hoping to meet him again, but no luck. He was nowhere near the shop, so you found yourself feeling rather disappointed.
But to avoid thinking about him again, you chose to just go on with finding your book.

The tiny bell above the door rang as you walked into the store. "Mrs. Huttey?"
The woman quickly came into the room. "Yes dear?"
"Did someone turn in a copy of the book I bought a few days ago?" The old woman nodded. "Yes. I figured it was yours. A redheaded man turned it in the same day you bought it. Actually just a few minutes after you bought it. He was rather good looking if I do say so myself." The chubby lady chuckled to herself, as she found your book and handed it to you. A blush crept up on your cheeks. "Thank you so much." You were relieved about the reunion with your beloved book. But another reunion was still missing. "Have a lovely day Miss L/n." She smiled genuinely at you before you headed out the door again.

"Finally got your book back eh?" A familiar voice came from behind you.
"George?" You turned around to see the redheaded man smiling at you. "I turned it in to the woman in the shop. Figured you were the owner." He chuckled a bit. "Well nice to see you too." You said sarcastically.
"Yeah actually." George responded. "I'm glad I finally have a day off, so I could see you again."
He smirked, obviously flirting.
"Uhm... See - See me?" You stuttered. Great. Why did you have to be so darn shy all the time? So nervous...
"Yeah... I actually wanted to ask you out." George said sheepishly.
You felt a blush coming, seeing as he clearly chose to be upfront with you. "That, uhm, that sounds good, actually."
You were relieved as you finally got out an answer to his question. "Err... Do you know this café, Marquel's?"

George's pov.

"Of course I do." I replied. "They love me over there!" Of course I was lying. But I figured that a little white lie wasn't going to do any harm. I wanted to seem as muggle-like as possible. Didn't wanna scare her off with my magic before she even got a chance to know me. Right? I remembered what Fred had told me this morning. Don't tell her you're a wizard until you know it's serious. Alright? Fred was very particular about that. And in a way, he was right.

We were walking down the street talking about the bookstore, and I could feel that Y/n became more and more comfortable with me. She didn't stutter as much now. Only when I was flattering her, or teasing her a bit.
It felt nice.
Being by her side, walking together as her h/c locks gently moved in the wind,
I almost took her hand.
Almost.

Y/n's pov.

You were sat at a table in the corner of the small café, near a cozy, cluttered window.
"So, what should we order?" George asked, looking at the menu. "I think I'll order the hot chocolate, since y'know, it's cold outside." "I think I'll take the same then. I'll go up to the bar and order." You smiled as you gave your answer, and you stood up, but George quickly interrupted. "Why don't I pay? I mean, I was the one who asked you out. Right?" You nodded. "Yeah, but I'll pay anyway. It's the least I can do for you after you were so kind to return my book." You chuckled.
"I guess you're right."

***

"Wait..." You exclaimed. "You're a twin?!" George laughed as he nodded along to your words. "I am. Probably should have told you that before I began this whole story eh?"
"Yeah probably. Alright so tell me about yourself."
George smiled as he began to formerly present himself.
"George Weasley's my name, but you know that already. Uhm... I have five brothers, Bill, Charlie, Percy, my identical twin Fred and Ron. Also have a little sister, Ginny."

"I'm assuming that that was in chronological order. Right?" You asked.

"Of course, otherwise it would just be way too confusing for you. Anyway; Fred and I own a prank-shop and we've been earning quite a lot."

"Wow, sounds fun!" You added.
"What sounds fun? The siblings or the shop?"
"All of it!" You couldn't help but giggle at his joke.

"Now it's your turn." George stated. "Tell me about yourself."
You blushed a pink shade before talking.
"I'm an only child, I love reading and err... my Dad ran away when I was little..."
George sighed. "I'm sorry... must've been hard."
"It's not that bad, I don't really remember him. And I'm super close with my Mum now, so it doesn't really matter."
You smiled reassuringly.
George looked into your eyes before taking your hand across the table. You blushed as you felt your hand in his.

***

"I had a great evening George." You spoke. "Me too Y/n." He had both your hands in his.
The two of you were standing outside of the café, under the dark nightsky, as the owner actually had to kick you out at closing time. "Maybe you would like to go on another date sometime?"
"Sounds great!" You giggled.

Suddenly you couldn't help but take in his features. His big brown eyes, his outlined jaw and his happy smirk that was plastered upon his lips.
You wished for this moment to last forever. Even more when you felt a pair of soft lips lightly pressed against yours. The kiss was short, and before you knew it, over.
"Could-uhm- could we do that again?" You shyly asked. George smirked at you before once again making your lips meet.

This time it was more passionate. You quickly kissed back letting out a slight gasp as he placed his hands on your waist. You on the other hand were running your hands through his hair, as your lips slowly found a rythm to move in sync.

Damn you hated breathing... You broke apart before too much happened, and smiled. This had been the best evening of your life.
"I have to go," You mumbled. "My Mum's probably worried..."
George chuckled a bit. "You're right."

He leaned in kissing your cheek and whispered. "Can't wait to see you again."

You wandered home with a permanent blush on your cheeks, as the memory of the kiss seemed to play in your head on repeat.
