The grass

danced

in the late-night breeze.

The cool air kissed them,

the light dew missed them,

yet they only had eyes

for those bright lights in the skies.

The grass,

as they listened to the thunder,

as the lightning cracked the sky like glass.

The grass looked in wonder

at the stars

they loved.
