During late hours that I can't sleep I like to listen to love songs.
I turn my back away from the music so that I can pretend it's you whispering the sweet nothings into my ears.
I know it's not you
because the warmth from your body is missing from my back
and your arm
is no longer nestled over my
stomach with your fingers
interlaced in mine.
During late hours that I can't

I like to pretend you're still
here by listening to empty
promises and lost dreams of what
we could've been.
