Late night kind of flirting
Just the way it was so long ago,
But possibly better.
Humming songs about respective crushes but both secretly thinking about old 'i love you' jokes.
Back when I loved you,
I didn't see the bad parts.
And it's like somehow those dark sides are fading away again.
But it won't be the way it was.
I'll get a boyfriend,

And the hour we go to bed each night will get later and later,
Until one autumn night after we've fallen out of love I will realise what you meant to me.
I look forward to us being near almost as much as I look forward to being near to him.
But it's not the way it was.
This isn't love,
Platonic or otherwise.
This is nostalgia.
And whirlwind one night stand of happy tears and reliving old friendships.
Except it happens more nights than not.
And anyway, I have him to remind me what love really is.
He is love.
Big smiles and laughter that means more than what it sounds like. Wanting to hold hands. Sharing looks when the jealous one isn't busy being jealous.
This one is just nostalgia.
Burying old feelings under fresh love like concrete over ruins. Both thinking about previous years, and neither one bringing it up.
I'm glad nostalgia cane back to visit though.
I didn't realise how much I missed him until he was here.
