Maeve Rosindottir was content with what she did. The granddaughter of refugees from a neighboring planet, she enjoyed her work as a groom in the royal stables, earning her keep alongside several other trusted stagehands, expected to supply the king's various advisors and officials with horses for travel and battles alike. She often attracted looks when receiving news of an injured steed or when a warrior returned a stallion's saddle covered in blood, thanking her for her services, for mourning over animals was not customary, everyone holding to the belief that they could easily be replaced.
There was one woman who Maeve couldn't help but notice, however; Lady Sif, the woman warrior who held her own proudly beside the Warriors Three and the crowned princes. As someone who was expected to be seen and not heard, only speaking when spoken to, it was a surprise when the woman took an interest in her, making a habit of making polite conversation that slowly became more fond and personal over time.
But just as the two became more involved, an accident leaves Maeve shaken and Lady Sif wondering how much she was willing to sacrifice for someone she deeply cared for, both realizing their blooming feelings for one another amongst a sea of others insisting they would regret getting closer. Just because they had faced everything alone before didn't mean they had to now, and doing so together would be the best decision they ever made.

I'll admit, I never actually planned to have a Lady Sif fic because I'm terrified to write anything set on Asgard, but we're here today because LAURAHARRIERS has gotten me into writing them, and her own Sif fic is to die for, so definitely go check that out!
So! This fic has actually been in the works for a couple months now and I never really did anything with it other than let it sit there, but we're back and I'm very excited, you have no idea. I have (more or less) everything planned out, as well as the ending which is pretty important and which I hinted at above, but it's gonna be a wild ride and I love it.
