(Y/n)'s POV
I woke up in my bed like every other morning before. I got up and walked into the kitchen only to find Amber sitting at the dinner table. I noticed bags under her eyes.
(Y/n): couldn't sleep, sis?
Amber: is it that obvious?
(Y/n): do I dare ask why?
Amber: mom and dad were...doing things. My loft is right above their room so I could hear everything that was going on.
(Y/n): yeah, I thought that might happen sooner or later. I'll see if I can put some padding in the walls to muffle the noise.
Amber: I would love it if you did that.
(Y/n): anyway, we should probably get dressed and head off to the guild hall.
We did just that. Amber was sitting face down on a table while I was browsing the quest board. After half an hour passed, Lyric and Stella came in. Lyric stood next to me while Stella sat with Amber.
Lyric: find anything yet?
(Y/n): na, to be honest there's not much here.
Lyric: what about this?
He took a flyer from the board and looked at it.
Lyric: 500000 JEWEL JUST TO GET RID OF A MONSTER?!
(Y/n): let me see that.
I took the flyer and read it.
(Y/n): a vicious monster terrorizing a desert village, huh? Yeah, this one sounds good.
We walked over to Stella and Amber.
Lyric: hey, we were just about to go on this mission, ya wanna come?
Amber: sure, I don't wanna get caught in one of Natsu's brawls again.
Stella: I don't see why not. Let's go.

We were walking across this vast desert, looking for this monster we were being paid to hunt down. Amber and Lyric were sweating like crazy.
Lyric/Amber: IT'S SO HOT!
(Y/n): WOULD YOU STOP SAYING THAT?! YOU'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THE HEAT SINCE WE GOT HERE!
Amber: do we even know what this monster looks like? How are we supposed to know when we found it?
Stella: the people in the village said we'd know it when we see it. So stop complaining and keep walking.
After a while I saw something in my peripheral vision. The sand on 1 the dunes was shifting, like something was moving underneath it.
Amber: what the hell is that?
Lyric: if I hand to guess, I'd say it's the monster we're looking for.
Stella: well, let's go after it.
(Y/n): no, we need to make it come to us. Lyric, would you mind?
Lyric: not at all. APOCALYPSE GOD JUDGEMENT FIST!
Lyric punched the ground and the move began making it's way towards us.
(Y/n): get ready.
Lyric requiped Ziel, Amber made her warhammer, and I took out Meliode. Even after a month, I've never seen Stella's magic in action, I was pretty excited to see it.
The monster quickly approached us and leaped out of the sand.
Stella: SCATTER!
We all ran in different directions like rats in a kitchen. Seeing the monster spark familiar memories, this wasn't the first time I've gone up again 1 of them.
(Y/n): aw crap, it's a sand viper!
Lyric: this thing looks tough!
Amber: what should we do?!
(Y/n): just watch out for it's tail and aim for the head!
Unfortunately my advice was a little late. The sand viper moved and almost hit Amber with it clubbed tail. She dove for the ground in order to avoid it and got sand all over her. Sand was in her hair, pocket, even her mouth. She began spitting it out.
Stella kept running around the monster in an attempt to make it dizzy. The sand viper started to stumble as Stella's effort were actually taking effect.
(Y/n): SERIOUSLY, THAT WORKED?!
Lyric: your mom knows how to hunt monsters like a champ. She likes to exploit there weaknesses in order to catch them off guard. She also knows their strength so she can avoid them.
Amber suddenly ran over, pulled some of the sand out of her pocket, and threw it into the monster's face.
Amber: POCKET SAND!
Throwing sand in it's face had absolutely no effect.
Stella: um sweetie, sand vipers have special lenses on their eyes to prevent sand from getting I. Their eyes while digging.
(Y/n): huh, she sure knows her stuff.
Lyric: yeah, she used to read all types of monster books and she's memorized every word she read.
(Y/n): we should probably step in.
Lyric: agreed.
Me and Lyric ran over to the sand viper. I was on it's left side while Lyric was on it's right.
Stella: what are you planning?!
Lyric: you'll see.
(Y/n): APOCALYPSE DRAGON ROAR!
Lyric: APOCALYPSE GOD HOWL!
Our breath attacks collided with the monsters body, causing it to roar in pain. It ran away and started digging.
Amber: oh no you don't!
(Y/n): Amber, wait!
Amber grabbed onto the sand viper's tail only to be pulled under with it. The sand shifted again as the monster retreated with Amber.
(Y/n): Amber doesn't have much experience with fighting monsters, does she?
Stella: nope.
(Y/n): figured.
Lyric: well, let's track them down.
(Y/n): already on it.
I sniffed the air an caught a whiff of the sand viper's scent.
(Y/n): found em, follow me.

As we were tracking down Amber and the monster, we saw it again as it was entering a cave with Amber still hanging onto it's tail. It didn't seem to notice her, so we didn't need to worry about her being eaten.
We followed the sand viper into the cave. It was deep and got darker the further we went. Soon we began to see light again. We saw the sand viper sleeping with Amber pinned under it's tail.
Stella: sweetie!
Stella and Lyric ran over to her and pulled Amber out from under the the sand viper's tail.
Stella: are you ok?!
Amber: yeah, I'm fine, just a little shaken up. Let's just get out of here.
(Y/n): the jobs not done yet.
I looked about the monster and saw a large stalactite hanging from ceiling that seemed to be on the verge of breaking off. I picked up a large rock that was about the size of hand and chucked it. The stalactite broke from the ceiling and landed on the sand viper, killing it instantly. I walked over to the monsters head and ripped out 1 of it's teeth.
Amber: what are you doing?
(Y/n): collecting a trophy.
I walked over to them and showed it off.
Amber: well, if you get a trophy, I get 1 too.
(Y/n): fine, grab a few scales off of it and meet us outside.
Amber ran over to the sand viper while me, Lyric, and Stella walked outside of the cave.
I was kinda disappointed that Stella didn't use her magic during that whole fight, so I decided to ask her about it.
(Y/n): hey mom, why did you use your magic for that fight.
Stella: oh, I just prefer to rely and skill instead of magic.
Lyric: and by that she mean, she's only able to use her magic when she's mad.
(Y/n): aw man.
Lyric: trust me, kid. When she DOES use her magic, you better hide behind something.
After awhile, Amber came out to join us. She adjusted her bag on her back and looked kinda suspicious.
(Y/n): so did you get those scales?
Amber: uh, yeah.
I thought nothing of it and we made our way back home, but not before getting paid for the job.
We arrived back at the treehouse and practically collapsed from exhaustion.
Lyric: I'm so tired!
I sat down and felt like every part on my body was about to fall off.
Suddenly, I noticed something Amber's bag move on it's own. I questioned her about it.
(Y/n): hey sis, what's in your bag.
Amber: n-nothing.
Noises started coming from her bag, like some sort of animal was inside.
(Y/n): that doesn't sound like nothing.
Amber tried to back towards the door, but Lyric grabbed her bag off of her back and reached inside. His eye widened and something bit down on his hand. He lifted hand out of the bag revealing a baby sand viper gnawing on his hand.
Lyric: thank God for immortality.
Amber grabbed the little monster and it released it's jaws.
Amber: *guilty laughter*
(Y/n): you brought a baby sand viper home with you?
Amber: his name is Speckles.
(Y/n): aw great, you named it, now you're gonna get attached!
Amber: please, I'll take care of him. After we killed his mother there was no way he was gonna survive.
I looked at her, then to the little monster in her arms, then back to her. She started giving me puppy eyes.
(Y/n): mm, fine, but he's your responsibility.
Amber: thank you thank you thank you!
I walked over to her and looked down at the little sand viper. I reached my hand down and pet him. He made a noise to indicate it's joy and I smiled.
