New Girl. New Manager

Red.

The only thing that can be deciphered in this empty room. Red splattered and covering the white tile walls and floors.

A girl with short wavy brown hair in a plain white sleeveless dress that stops at her knees.

I can't make out her eyes with her long bangs acting like curtains.

I look around the room. There's no door... No windows...

Just a hole in the ceiling with metal bars sealing it.

I felt a tug on my hand and look down to see the girl, her head pointed down. "Can you... please.... GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!" The girl's calm, quiet, and gentle voice morphed into one akin to a dying raven.

I suddenly lose all feeling in my body, I'm frozen in place as pain emits from my arm that the girl latched onto. "You're a bad girl...." she mumbled while ripping my dark sleeve.

My eyes widen as she began carving on my arm with her sharp nails, blood trickling down to the floor...

~~~
Shooting up with a sharp gasp, I looked down at my left arm-the arm the little girl was mangling. I let out a scream at the sight.
Scott came running in with a bat. "What's wrong?!" He shouts. "Oh shit...." He breathes; lowering his bat and walking over to me.
My arm is covered in blood and so are my purple pillows. "What the hell... happened?" He manages to ask, touching my bloodied arm. I wince and take in a sharp breath and he quickly retracts his arm.
"I was having a nightmare... There was... this little girl... a room with no doors... and... I don't know..." I was trembling for the first time in years.
Scott helps me into the bathroom in his room to help clean the blood off. He was silent the whole time-not knowing what to say-but I understand. In his situation I would be the same.
Once we washed off all of the blood, there was no cut. No wound. Just... a scar.
I stared at it intensely. "What... the hell..." is all I can manage to say.
The scar isn't pretty. It ran up my arm-from the underside of my wrist, to all the way up to my collarbone.
My arm no longer hurts but from the look Scott's giving me, he's worried as hell. "Does it hurt?" He asked softly and I shake my head. "No but, how did I get this?"
He gives me a worry filled look. "I... don't know..." he answers sadly.
I can't stand that look so I change the subject. "How's the bite?" I ask, pointing to his side. The very side where his wound was bleeding from, which I had to help him clean. "Fine I guess, still hurts if I touch it. Come on; let's hide that bloody pillow of yours before mom wakes up. It's 3 in the morning."
Scott helped me wrap up the scar with gauze and I hid it with a long sleeve black and grey flannel. 'I'm going to have to buy make-up to cover up the scar on my collarbone now... great...' I mentally grumble as I jog alongside Scott-who's on his bike.
"Are you sure you don't want to sit on the handlebars?" He asks for the tenth time. "Yes Scott, I'm good. Plus we're here already." I roll my eyes as we made it to school grounds.
I walk over to my baseball coach while Scott goes to lock his bike. "Hey coach, when's tryouts this year?" I ask the tall blonde teacher. "Hm? Oh, McCain. Sorry sweetie but the team's been cut this year." She apologies sadly.
My jaw falls open for a few seconds. "WHAT?! Why?" I question the emerald eyed woman.
She let out a bitter sigh. "Because all of the males on the team graduated and none of the other girls want to continue." She gripped her clipboard tightly. "The other teachers also said it was pointless to encourage new students to try out... seeing how we only won three games, thanks to you." she nearly hisses as a sharp glint shines in her eyes.
I take a step back from her as her grip on her clipboard tightens further. She takes a calming breath before flashing me a sad smile. "I did mention you to my husband one too many times and he told me that you could try-out for his team next year." She gave me a flyer with her messy handwriting scribbling a phone number at the bottom. "Just call the number I wrote at the bottom the day before the date written on the flyer next year and you'll be all set."
My eyes widen at once I took the flyer. 'Her husband is a coach for a professional baseball team?!!' I thank her multiple times before running over to Scott and Stiles.
English Class started and I take the empty seat behind Stiles, who's next to Scott.
"As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night..." The teacher began while writing on the chalkboard.
Stiles, me and Scott shared a knowing smile.
"... and I'm sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenario a as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody. Which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk, outlining this semester." The teacher continues and at the end of him talking, the whole class lets out a groan.
'I wonder who the suspect is...'
I'm brought back from my thoughts as a girl with dark curly hair and a thin, toned figure walks in. "Class, this is our new students, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome." With that said, the school administrator takes his leave and Allison takes the vacant seat behind Scott.
Scott wordlessly lends her a pen just as we all start with class. 'Looks like Scotty boy has a crush on the new girl!' I mentally gash as I finish the work sheet in front of me.
School finally ends and I'm now waiting with Stiles for Scott to finish up at his locker.
Scott's just staring at Allison, whose locker just so happens to be across the hall from his.
While he was in happy-daydream-crush land, a girl from our class asks Stiles how Lydia has already claimed Allison her 'new best friend' with in only a few seconds of meeting.
"Because she hot." Stiles answers casually with a shrug. "Beautiful people herd together."
That sends a pain through my chest. 'Damn you teenage self-esteem...'
Our class mate then looks me up and down before asking another question. "Then what about Amber?"
That question sends me spiraling. 'WHY WOULD YOU ASK SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!' I mentally yelled at her.
"Well....." he seems to start to hesitate a bit and now has a nervous look in his eyes. "... well... exceptions... are made every day... they say a gem stands out better alone then in the box." His face slightly red as he answers and I can practically hear my heart pounding in my ears.
"W-what?" I manage to yank out of my throat. "N-nothing! Come on, let's go!" Stiles grabs both mine and Scott's wrists and drags us off.
He drags me towards the change room. Just before he could drag me inside, I shift my entire weight to my feet. "I'm not going in there."
"Right, sorry." Stiles scratches the back of his neck. "I'll wait right here so don't take too long." I sigh.
They nod and walk inside to change. I pull out my phone and skimp through the pictures in my camera roll. "That you, McCain?" A loud voice calls out to me.
I look up to see coach Finstock staring down at me. "Oh, coach Finstock. You need anything?" I politely ask.
"Yeah. I heard about the baseball team, it's too bad to. You brought back a lot of wins for us." He rambles. "Anyways, since you now have some free time, I need a new team manager for the lacrosse team. Want the spot?"
"Yes!" I shoot up to my feet with excitement. "Good. You can start with listing the guys who make the cut and who's bench for me later. I'll give you the rough draft to type up later once the tryouts are done." With that he marches out to the field.
I jump up and down with joy. "What's got you so cheery all of a sudden?" Scott's voice asks as the two walk out of the change room.
I turn to them with a smile. "Well... since the baseball team was cut this year..... Guess who the new lacrosse team manager is!"
The two look at me with shock. "No way!" They shout at the same time.
"You have got to be kidding!" An angry voice shouts from behind me. I turn to see a very angry Jackson Whittemore. "You're the team manager now?" He questions bitterly. Jackson never really liked me. Nope. Not one bit.
I shift my weight to one side and cross my arms. "Got a problem with that, blondie?"
"Yes."
"Too bad." I smirked.
