Chapter Nine

As soon as they were out of sight Tony turns on Steve and grabs him by the uniform. "How could you just let her go!" He shouts, his eyes red with rage.
Steve understood his anger but he wasn't going to allow Tony to push all over him. He grabs the metal arm and pries it off his chest. "I did what I had to do to insure Alyanna wouldn't be harm."
Tony scoffs, his suit groaning as he steps back in disbelief. "She was right there. Literally just a few feet away. And you just let her go." He felt so betrayed both at the fact that Alyanna just stole from them and didn't remember who they were and that his best friend just stopped them from rescuing her.
Steve wasn't backing down. "We need to do this smartly. Firing at each other will only cause harm to Alyanna."
Tony feels a rush of frustration as he grips his forehead before throwing his hands in the air. "Are you even her soulmate?! Or did you just lose any ounce of care for her when your mark disappeared."
Steve felt super offended as he gawked at Tony in disbelief. "Excuse me?"
Thor, Clint, and Natasha couldn't help but look back and forth between the two like a tennis match.
Tony was sweating and Steve was beginning to get on that level. "You heard me old man. If you truly were her soulmate than you wouldn't just let her walk away with that psychopath!"
With clenched fist, Steve threw his shield directly towards Tony, missing by mere centimeters. "Oh it's going to be like that now?" Tony scowls, his protective mask falling down onto his face. He steps forward with his hand raised, glowing with the anticipation of firing. "Bring it on asshole."
Steve holds a defensive stance, daring Tony to fire at him. But before either could make a move, Thor sends his hammer towards Tony gently, knocking him into a tree. Natasha and Clint step in between them, their hands raised to stop the unnecessary fight.
"Enough of this!" Thor booms as his hammer makes it safely back into his hand. "You fight like children!"
Tony groans in pain as his body recovers from being slammed into a tree. Steve's jaw tightens as he stares at his teammates.
Natasha frowns as she looks between Steve and Tony. "I hate to admit it, but Steve did the right thing," she says even though it pained her.
Tony gives her an incredulous look. "You can't be serious," he mutters sarcastically.
"Hey guys, instead of arguing, why don't we follow the helicopter to their base?" Clint suggests, motioning towards the direction it had disappeared too.
Everyone stares at him for a bit before springing into action. Before they could get a move on, they heard a snap of a branch from behind them. They all turned, weapons raised, as a out of breath Bruce comes barreling through the trees.
"Was she-re-really here?" He gasps for air, clearly winded from the sprint.
Tony doesn't respond as he glares through his mask, his feet igniting as he takes off into the sky.
Steve grabs his shield and straps it to his back before taking off full speed in the direction where Tony flew off to. Thor swings his hammer and he was gone as well.
Clint and Natasha give each other a look before they begin to head back to base.
Bruce looks around in confusion as his team disassembled into different directions. "What?" He says outloud. "Was it something I said?"
Next Scene
On the helicopter with Alyanna and Bucky
Once they were a good distance away, Bucky felt his nerves begin to relax. But unfortunately for him, the woman next to him was a different story.
Alyanna sat in the passenger seat, arms folded and fuming silently. She hasn't once said a word to him nor did she feel like it. Bucky could tell she was angry with him, and every part of him wanted to reach out and comfort her. His mind goes back to the night before...
During the days of training Bucky couldn't help but have his feelings grow for Alyanna. She was funny, strong, but also had this sweet side to her that he just couldn't get enough of.
He admired her every time she moved, spoke, hell, even breath! He couldn't explain why he felt this way, and he couldn't understand it either. It made him question whether or not she would have been his soulmate had it not been removed.
Luis and Pepper kept their distance since the incident in the hallway. And he made sure he was close enough at all times that she wouldn't run into any trouble. He wish he could break the collar off his neck and run away with her and live out in the middle of nowhere, far from anyone else.
He wanted to know what she felt like, tastes like. Bucky found himself holding back from kissing her on multiple occasions, and he constantly wondered what she was thinking. Did she feel the same way? Or did Erik suck any feeling out of her when he wiped her marks and memories away.
Tomorrow was the day they were going to infiltrate the Avenger's Headquarters as a test to see if they would fight against their soulmate. It was very risky and Bucky protested against it. However, Erik was determined to test his theory, even if that means to risk losing her. But his master was confident in him bringing her back.
It was night time, and Alyanna has retired to her quarters already. Bucky found himself standing in front of her door, having a mental battle of whether or not he wanted to see her.
His hand raised and he was about to knock when the door slid open. Alyanna jumps upon seeing Bucky standing right outside her door. Bucky was also startled and he took a step back while his mouth drops open to spit out an excuse.
"Bucky! You scared me, what are you doing outside my door?"
Bucky bites the inside of his cheek and cursed inside his head. "I just wanted to go over the plan with you again," he speaks sounding almost like an automated voice.
Alyanna smiles and steps aside to allow him in. Bucky feels his heart race as he steps into her room. He wondered what her room back at her home looked like; did she have stuffed animals, weapons, or even posters on her wall?
This room was plain, and definitely not a representation of who Alyanna was as a person. It was identical to his and he couldn't help but frown.
"So, the plan," Alyanna starts as she sits on her bed. She pats the space beside her as an invitation for him to sit. If she had been anyone else, Bucky would have shook his head and refused...but...
The bed dips as his heavy body places itself at the end, next to the smiling brunette. Bucky clears his throat as he realizes what she had said.
"Right, um. I'll drop you off at the edge of the forest, a few miles from the compound. You will use the devices to go undetected through their security. You'll make your way down the—"
"Bucky, I know the plan like the back of my hand. That's not the reason you are in here is it?" She speculates causing him to look away.
Stop being a pussy, his mind screamed at him.
But this wasn't just any girl. This was Steve's girl.
Not anymore.
Bucky felt like his metal arm was heavier than usual. The nerves that scrambled in his stomach reminded of when he had his first kiss almost seventy years ago. He felt a hand on his thigh, causing an eruption of goose bumps to explode along his skin. Looking up into those gorgeous brown eyes, Bucky felt himself tingle to the bone.
"Fuck it," he mutters before wrapping his arms around her and bringing her in close to smash his lips against hers.
He kissed her greedily, memorizing every inch of Alyanna's lips. Alyanna responds by kissing back with just as much passions, her hands wounding around his neck as she pulls herself up to straddle him.
He couldn't believe this was happening, and it was even better than he could ever imagine. His hands grab her bottom as his tongue invades her mouth. They continued to make out when a loud banging on the door startled them.
Bucky jumps up from his bed, his heart racing as he looks around the room. The girl in his arms were gone and he realized that he was in his own room.
The knocking on his door continued but he needed a moment to collect himself.
"What?!" He manages to bark out.
"Come on Bucky, we have to be at the flight pad in twenty minutes!" The sweet voice of Alyanna filters through the door, causing Bucky to grind his teeth and wipes his mouth from the drool.
"I'll be out in a minute!" He calls back, feeling like utter shit at having a pathetic wet dream.
He needed to get himself together.
He wanted nothing more than to have that his reality. Even as she sat there, faced away from him, he wanted nothing more than to kiss her senseless.
But instead he settled for an apology.
"Aly im sor—," he starts was cut off by a raised hand.
"Save it," she snaps. "I don't care what your excuse was. You could have killed me back there."
The words shot through Bucky and he felt his hands tighten against the cyclic.
"I would never put you in harms way!" Bucky shot back, feeling offended.
Alyanna turns to him with a glare. "So holding a gun to my head doesn't count!?"
Bucky scoffs and shakes his head. "I knew what I was doing."
"And why the hell were they calling me by a different name!? And I thought they wanted me dead, how did threatening my life get us to escape?!" She questions heatedly, not backing down.
Bucky felt like throwing himself out of the helicopter. He knew this was a bad idea, but Erik insisted on testing his theory. And it had been true, the Avengers wouldn't engage in a fight with their beloved soulmate.
"They're confused. They thought you were dead, they probably didn't expect to see you," he half lies, not looking in her direction.
She narrows her eyes at him, her mouth forming a tight line as she essessed his demenior. "Why do I feel like you are not telling me something," she speaks out loud.
Bucky swallows but remains calm. "Probably because you took another hit to your head."
Alyanna rolls her eyes before looking down at the monitor and noticing a very fast object moving towards them. But then it began to slow down till it was off the radar. Maybe it was a bird, Alyanna thought to herself. Bucky didn't seem to notice so she assumed it wasn't important.
Next Scene
Brotherhood hideout
The Helicopter landed steadily in the middle of the grassy field. Alyanna, carrying the backpack, hops down onto the ground. Bucky shuts off the aircraft before pressing a button that made the chopper turn invisible. He then leads Alyanna to the hidden passageway that was the entrance into the compound.
They disappear down into the ground and the field was left empty and completely normal.
Meanwhile, two pairs of eyes watch them from a distance.
"They've been close by all this time," Tony miffs into the communication device. "Jarvis get me a scan of the area."
"The base seems to be guarded by a force field of some kind, I can't get a read," the robotic butler replies.
"That's probably why it wasn't able to come up on the satellite scan," Tony concludes to the others.
"We'll be there in 5," Natasha remarks as Clint and her were loading in the quinjet.
"Are we going to wait for them?" Steve asks as his eyes never left the spot where Bucky and Alyanna just were.
"Oh now who's concerned," Tony remarks as his face piece lifts up.
Steve rolls his eyes and glares at Tony. "You can't possibly think that I don't care about her. I did what I thought was--"
"Right, I get it," Tony cuts him off. "But something is telling me that you have a connection with that metal arm freakizoid," he says as he turns his eyes to him. "So either you tell me now, or I'll find out later."
Steve's jaw clenches as he stares at Tony. Tony could find out almost anything within seconds, and how would he feel if Steve kept it from him?
"He was the assassin in D.C," Steve finally answered him. "And he was also a friend of mine."
Tony lifts an eyebrow. "A friend?" He questions almost harshly.
"Was, back in the day. But he's different now. Erik turned him into a weapon, but the real him is still in there."
"And you trust him enough to let him leave with Alyanna?" Tony asks in disbelief.
Steve shrugs his shoulders. "He helped us back in D.C. Whatever control Erik has over him it's not by choice. He knows Alyanna is my soulmate, he's probably keeping an eye on her."
Tony activates his face mask again, his robotic voice filtering through. "Well for his sake, he better not have harmed a single hair on her body or else your friend is going to know what metal really taste like."
Next Scene
Erik's Lab.
Bucky and Alyanna track down the hall towards Erik's lab. This would be the first time Alyanna has met Erik since she woke up and she was slightly nervous.
"Address him as Master and never talk back or question him," Bucky informs her.
Alynna nods in agreement and prepares herself mentally.
The two guards open the door and they step inside the dimly lit room. The door shuts behind them and Alyanna couldn't help but jump from the sudden noise.
"Ah, what a pleasant surprise. Come in, come in," A voice ushers and Alyanna looks up to see the outline of Erik walking towards her.
He was older, but had this powerful aura around him that made Alyanna definitely not want to be on his bad side. She takes a step forward and holds out the piece of technology she stole out towards him. "The item you requested Master," she speaks as she lowers her head.
Erik couldn't help but smirk. He reaches out and grabs the item. "Good girl, I knew you wouldn't let me down."
Alyanna felt her stomach twist at his words and she felt disgusted being under his stare. But she pushed the feelings away. Her eyes come up and she watches as he attaches the item to what looked like a ray gun. Something about the machine made her cringe.
"We are one step closer to spreading equality over the whole planet," he muses.
"What does that thing do?" Alyanna finds herself asking and Bucky tenses beside her. His arm wrapped around her and began to pull her away when Erik holds his hand up to stop him.
"Don't worry son, Ms. Young can ask questions," he tells him and Bucky reluctantly lets her go. His scowl deepens as Erik motions for her to come closer.
Alyanna was wary about going to him for he sent a bunch of creepy old man vibes but she obeyed since he was her 'master'.
Erik gives her a smile and hold out his hand to her. When Alyanna places her hand in his, he pulls her tightly to him and moves her in front so she is facing the controls of the machine. Alyanna's whole body was vibrating from how uncomfortable she was and she sends Bucky alarming stares.
The Winter Soldier on the other hand wanted nothing more than to kill that son of a bitch who dared to put his hands on his girl.
Wait...his girl?
"You see my dear, this machine is capable of making everyone in this world on equal playing grounds."
"W-What do you mean?" She asks timidly.
"Not everyone is born with a soulmark. Luis, Pepper, Bucky, and you don't have one. And you see? This limits to who you are allowed to love. Luis fell in love with a girl with a soulmark and he was heartbroken. Pepper dreams of a man she could never have because he's destined to be with someone else. I find it all completely unethical and unfair. So this machine has the power to erase all the soulmarks on this planet," he explains with a dark tone.
Alyanna's mouth drops open. "How is that possible?"
Erik's eyes motion to the mind stone that was embedded into Loki's scepter. "This stone has special powers, powers that a human would never understand," he whispers into her ear.
Goosebumps exploded up and down her arm and she found herself pulling away from him. "Okay, well if that is all you need from me, I'll just be going," she says as she pull away from his embrace and makes her way back towards Bucky who looked to be having an internal battle.
Erik smirks, pleased with himself. "It will be a better world dear, and with you by our side, we will be unstoppable."
Alyanna gives a fake smile before tugging on Bucky's arm, letting him know that she was ready to go.
But before they could walk out of the room, a guard come busting through looking panicked and out of breath.
"Master! The-they're here!" He gasps.
"Who?" Erik questions through gritted teeth. Before the guard could answer there was a sound of an explosion.
"The Avengers!" He finally says and Bucky looks straight at Alyanna with worry before looking up at Erik who looked pissed.
"Which ones?" He barks out as he pries the Scepter off the machine.
"All of them!"
