He ran.

I could see him, all red and sweaty (not gorgeous, no, pfft), running behind us.

I had only looked up because there was a racket going on and I couldn't hear my Of Monsters and Men.

He shouted.

What?

"Wait up!" He practically screamed.

I whipped my hastily made braids against my face as I turned towards the bus driver.

"Stop!"

The bus driver did, and whether it was it of shock, or surprise, I couldn't tell.

The boy caught up with us as we stopped across from the little coffeeshop a couple blocks away from my school.

Dave (or at least I think that's his name) opened the bus door.

Boy clambered up the steps.

"Thank," he paused for breath, "you."

I raised my eyebrows. "Any time, Derek."

"No, no, no, Avan, not 'Derek'!" 

Dave gave us the evil eye. "Stop flirting and sit down!"

I blushed.

I think the boy did too.

But, in any case, he sat down next to me.

Too close, Avan.

He smirked at me.

We left the bus some time later, my house looming resolute in its disapproval of the boy who stood next to me.

We studied for a while.

He left.

Nothing too abnormal, truly.

Except for right when he left.

"Hey, Rosie?"

"Don't call me that."

He harrumphed. "Right. So, Rosie, um."

I looked towards him.

"Um... What?"

"I can't do this."

I furrowed my brow. "Do what?"

"The TA thing. It ends in a week."

I looked up from my book. "Okay."

He then stood up and left. I think I saw him look sad. 

He didn't say goodbye.
